Exactly 90 min later I pay and go to leave but my air conditioner was making a humming sound. I go back in and the same guy comes out to listen. Says oh its probably debris in the interior cabin filter or fan blower, we looked at it and it did have debris in the filter. Just drive it around it will go away. WTF? I said oh no, get someone out here now. The filter is just 18 months old, if there were leaves shouldnt they have shaken it out? And it wasnt making noise when I brought it in. They drove it back into the bay, cleaned it out and returned it to me. The manager, a female, spoke to me apologizing. I hope she adresses these issues. Apparently they are under new ownership in the past 3 months. Then I get home and get a text with their recommendations. 1 was that the under carriage splash guard was missing screws. Recommended replacing. Again WTF? Could you have told me and we could have addressed it? Biggest concern is that the splash guard was newly replaced early 2025. The only service I have had was an oil change here in late 2025. Why wasnt it mentioned then? Did they not rescrew them all back after the service? My last oil change there was $79, today was $96. Sal told me my vehicle would be looked at in "about a week," and I accepted that with patience and gratitude. Fast-forward more than a month, and my vehicle was still being held in what can only be described as auto-shop solitary confinement. During this time, I received exactly zero updates. Every call had to be initiated by me, as though I were checking on a long-lost relative rather than a repair job. Each time, Sal had a new story: a part "on order," a delay "out of his hands," or--my personal favorite--the week the computer was supposed to be programmed, when he responded, "What do you want me to do? The computer programmer works for Ford, not me." At one point, Sal even threatened (with all the maturity of a middle-schooler losing a video game) to tow my vehicle into the street. That was the moment I wisely followed my wife's advice and asked that the vehicle be towed to a different shop. Sal arranged a tow to Lamarque Ford, where it was discovered that no work had been performed whatsoever. No parts replaced, no repairs started--nothing. Strangely, Sal even paid for the tow himself, which would have been generous if it weren't so clearly an attempt to avoid charging me for work that never happened. In summary: my vehicle left Sal's Automotive in the exact same condition it arrived--except, of course, for the layer of dust it gathered during its month-long unplanned vacation.

That call never came. Only a call to tell me the diagnosis, another call when the part arrived, and a call to tell me the vehicle was ready for pick up. They even accepted payment over the phone, and left the car where I could pick it up after I arrived from my flight later that evening. Lord Help Me, I hate to report my experience, but it is what it is and hopefully this will may help some other person out. I was sent by a very trusted source, for a used car I had just bought with the suv chugging on an overpass. These guys are about as close to family as you can get and that's why I trusted them with my life, as well as my horse! 1st visit, truck stayed in their care for a week before they got around to looking at it. Then another few days to actually do the work. Not sure, if this is normal business??? ‍I was highly disgruntled, but chalked it up to a very busy, great mechanic shop! Seaux, I grumbled under my breath, and didn't bother to share my thoughts. I thought I was getting the Friends & Family treatment! Well the joke was on me! When I drove for Uber, I'd give my friends or family a nice discount to show my love for them, seaux I had hoped for a little extra care. This was Not exactly what I received here. Tho, I did purchase a new battery and they installed it free, I felt like I had gotten some special treatment. Tho, my bill came to $750 and I'm still unsure what that covered as vehicle ran the same after visit. The horse didnt make it back to the house because after making a pit stop, the truck refused to start. I was totally baffled, to say the least. Seaux, I called in and was told I had to have it towed back to shop. They found the battery cables werent properly connected. Seaux therefore: You guessed it, I got stuck using 1/5 Allstate Roadside Service events. I'm now wanting to learn automechanics myself to prevent such a nightmare! Cause if you cant trust such a trusted shop who is to be trusted? I was never offered reimbursement for the tow and I would think that would have been common courtesy or the very least they could do since their mechanic was at fault. Did they think I was made of money??? I was told by others that they shoulda paid for the tow not me. I don't understand, and can't quite get it! The first visit cost me $750ish for whatever & a new battery, with no maintenance charge to put in the new battery. Oh course, I was warned not to get any work done but, I felt the need to peck away at the long list, that me informed me should be fixed, seaux I picked a cheaper item. I do know, though I felt a little better for having it looked at, it really didn't act any different, afterwards! Mechanic mentioned it was probably bad gas, that it should self correct after I ran it abit and put new gas in it. A couple months later the battery dies and fortunately I was sitting in my driveway. Luckily it was within the 90 day warranty period. I get it towed in & they recharged battery for quite a long time and put their stamp of approval on it. Once again, I get it home and it won't start. I was told to get it towed back to shop seaux they can get to the bottom of it. I asked why they didn't replace battery instead of merely charging it and was told if machine deems battery good, they couldn't or wouldn't replace it? Well, imho it must be bad if it doesn't last more than 3 months! Sure enough I get it home and she wont start again. I could only laugh to laugh to keep from crying. I believe this time I was told she was ready,seaux I took a Lyft to geaux get her, and oppsie, they discovered she wasn't quite ready . I sat there for another few hours. Re-charging a new battery, only 2 1/2 months old??? Geaux figure! Not much later, i get the hot engine on dash, so i take it for oil change thinking it must be out of oil. I really would have thought all fluids should have been checked when seviced but, what do I know about cars & mechanics??? Seaux, the horse begins to overheat and was told to bring it in, they'd take a look. I had already gone thru almost 2 gallons of coolant. After 1st overheating, I had oil change. I believed that Walmart would check fluids/ coolant??? I guess not. They say it's not something they do. Coolant reservoir found empty. Seaux, I skip across the street to gas station for coolant. I have this sweet man- librarian fill the reservoir with coolant (after checking Google) and off we geaux. Of course, i keep a close eye on the meters quite religiously! I pulled over twice heading to Metairie as gauge neared boiling point. Sat for 10/15 mins seemed to be fine seaux away we geaux! It was the weekend and all mechanic shops were closed. Even with coolant full, it overheats, tho, I quickly pull over and allow for engine to cool. After checking coolant level, it seems to be fine. Couple days later that reservoir is empty. Contacted shop, sure enough they say, once again bring it in, they'll get to the bottom of it, lmao! I surely believe & took them at their word. I state my upset they tell me to chill in seaux many words. Seaux, I try to keep my cool!

Simply due to being a woman and not being taken seriously at any auto repair shop, I followed their suggestions and brought my '05 Ford Focus in for work. I was having serious issues with my brand new battery draining. It took me several visits to actually get the problem officially resolved--mostly due in part to the fact that the batteries I was buying from Autozone on N. Broad were all defective. I was informed "this kind of thing happens". I would say all in all it took me three different visits to R&S to rectify the matter, but I only paid once. The first two times were merely inspections that I wasn't charged for, and on the third trip I was charged for the labor to replace a deeply corroded battery lead. (The real problem!) A mere $40--in exchange for the headache I must have brought them I believe that to be fair. Also had work done here replacing a fan belt. Between the two brothers, I prefer to work with Sam. He's joyfully pleasant, upbeat and doesn't speak to you like you're some kind of retarded kid that's never operated a vehicle before. The receptionist is also very nice and really appreciates good handwriting--as she said when I handed her a personal check. "People don't spend the time these days with their penmanship. Yours is very nice." I don't care to work with Ray, who I perceive as the real-life version of Oscar the Grouch, just without the trash can which I assume is not too far away. He's grumpy, curt & generally seemingly growing tired with his work or tired with people. Either way 2 out 3 ain't bad. Quick repairs, decent pricing and informed throughout the process.

It got to the point where I considered calling the police on the painter who seems to have many issues going on and feels the need to threaten customers who are not satisfied with the work done or lack there of. It is my opinion that management lets their only painter get away with poor treatment of customers because they are short handed and he was the only one doing the painting. The painter complained about his job and bosses the entire time my vehicle was there. He kept pushing up the date my car would be ready up while working on other cars that were brought in later than mine. I truly believe that they work on the cars that come in from insurance companies they are possibly contracted with and/or get referrals from before private paying customers. If you want good customer service, your vehicle taken care of, painted and put together correctly then my opinion is, don't take it here. Do your research first. You will see other similar reviews for this company. I made my mistake by not reading the reviews first. The owner/manager is no help at all when customers have a problem because they have only one painter now (painter's helper got into argument with painter and quit while my car was in shop) and it seems the owner doesn't want to do the work himself to make his customers happy. I ended up taking my car without the work being completed because I was afraid the painter and others there would damage it further. Customer satisfaction, quality work and value for your dollar are definitely not priorities at Color Tech in Metairie.
