We were glad it was a cool week so we could leave the windows open. We had plenty of towels, to shower with. Beds a bit hard. Bring your own pillow. They do provide them, but old. We rented a pontoon boat for fishing...it was perfect. Everything worked, live well, fish finder. My husband has fished Lake Owen before and knew where to fish. We also tried some new spots. We were able to bring fish home. Otter Bay has a fish cleaning house right by the beach. It was clean and nice to use to clean our fish. Joe that is the manager (?) care taker is very nice, and very helpful. We ate one meal at the bar. We both had burgers that were very good. We will be back to Otter Bay!

Felt like a second home!…read more This is the second time I've stayed at Spider Lake Lodge in October and hope to continue the tradition every Fall. Last year and again this year, I basically had the lodge to myself for the majority of my stay. Delise the hostess is a gem, makes fabulous breakfasts and is always incredibly accommodating! I stayed in the Hemingway Room both times and it's perfect, couldn't ask for a nicer experience. I spent a lot of time in the great room in front of the fire in the evenings. For anyone considering a stay here who loves history and likes to read, I'd suggest "Return to Wake Robin" by Marnie O. Mamminga, she and her family spent many summers at the lodge and after spending time here you can understand and appreciate how special this place was to her family. My best friend and his wife own a home just down the hill and around the corner from the lodge. A few years ago I read the book at their home and last year one rainy afternoon sitting in the great room with a fire roaring, reading the book again (the lodge has a signed copy) and it really brought the book to life for me! Don't let the fact that they only serve breakfast deter you from staying, it's always delicious and there are a multitude of dining options within easy distance of the lodge not to mention that I had full access to use the kitchen if I wished. I can't say enough about the experience, I'm already looking forward to next Fall!

No breakfast of any kind at the hotel. It is quaint and rustic and has a very nice atmosphere. It is about 7 miles outside of Cable in a beautiful area of Northern Wisconsin. We were amazed at just how many of these very nice resorts are out here so far. The other resorts were much more pricey than this and for the money we spent this is very nice considering all you have to do is sleep here. The rest of our day is filled with sightseeing.
