The interior is lovely - nicely decorated with Persian themes - but not so fancy that it feels discouraging to bring the whole family. The tables are spaced well so it isn't too crowded or noisy. Great place for conversation. We ordered the Mast O Borani appetizer to start - a garlicky yogurt dish served with naan flatbread. It was cool, creamy and delicious. For our main dishes, we ordered mirza ghasemi (an eggplant and scrambled egg stew) and zereshk polo morgh, which was a slow-roasted quarter of a chicken with barberries. Both dishes were served with a generous helping of fluffy, saffron-infused rice. Everything we had was really delicious and had its own distinctive flavorings and spices. We were really impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we ordered a few more different dishes to go so that we could try more things when we got home. They prepared our to go order while we ate, and when we left, we not only had a whole bunch of leftovers from our meal, we had more fresh dishes to try - what a feast to look forward too. The lady who served us was really nice. She said the place had been there for a few years, and was run by her family, with special recipes that her family had developed. What luck they decided to settle in St. John's! I highly recommend Persepolis for a great meal and to support a wonderful family-owned business!

Likely the best falafels I've had in the city - crispy outside with beautiful chickpea filling that is soft and full of flavour. Try the veggie box, you won't be disappointed. Citrusy hummus, falafels, a little coleslaw, pickles turnip, and a light tzatziki sauce to soak your falafels in! It was delicious, if not a bit too much for lunch. (I'm pretty sure I have lunch for tomorrow, too!) Although I didn't need it, I ordered some of the beef kafta. Flavourful, just right tomato sauce kept the kafta moist. What they don't advertise, is that the beef is sourced locally, and ground in-house. A commitment to supporting local industry should be celebrated. Service was friendly, and pretty quick. The owners are attentive and want to ensure that whoever comes through the door leaves happy. Can't ask for much more than that.

You order and pay at the counter, fill your own water jug, and grab your own cutlery before taking a seat. It's a straightforward system and works well if you're looking for a quick meal. We ordered the Pineapple Taco and the Enchilada. The food was nicely presented and tasted fresh, but the flavors were fairly mild and didn't leave much of an impression. It wasn't bad by any means, just not as flavorful as we had hoped. The biggest disappointment was the value. The portion sizes felt quite small for the price, especially considering the self service format. We left wishing there had been either a bit more food or a little more boldness in the dishes to justify the cost. I can see why it may appeal to those looking for lighter fare. For us, though, the food didn't quite match the price point and overall, based on this visit, it was an average experience.

My husband and I went here for lunch while we were traveling in Newfoundland. The outside of this place is so colorful, and inside is like a cute small cafe. Definitely have had better vegetarian food on this trip. They even customize it to vegan if needed.

We looked at the menu on Yelp and the brunch menu looked very good. We arrived at this cozy restaurant (I think it was built in a house) and were greeted with a friendly server. We started with a very good cup of coffee. From the choices on the brunch menu I took the skillet: hash brown potatoes topped with eggs, cheese, mushrooms, onions and bacon with hollandaise sauce. Every bite was perfect. I even took the traditional toutons on the side. My boyfriend took the traditional breakfast and fell in love with the peameal bacon. The server always made sure that everything was ok and that our coffees and water were refilled. I recommend this place for brunch, but apparently it's even better for dinner!

I had walked by numerous times and found it odd but respectable that it was always closed during the day and only opened at 5pm. When I went to enjoy a supper with my parents one holiday evening, the interior was decorated nicely and had really kind service. I ordered the Pork Milanese ($28) which was a battered pork loin with creamy gnocchi noodles and mushrooms on the side. The dish was incredibly filling, but it did keep me wanting to continue picking at each noodle after I was already full. The pork had a lemon on this side to give it some extra zest. My dish was good, but my mom ordered the Chicken Parmesan which honestly looked and tasted better than mine. I also attached a picture of it as well. This place didn't have too many entrees to choose from but the chicken was great, and the pork was good. They have many pizza options, but I am not the biggest fan of fancy pizza so I personally would not come here for that selection. From what I ate though, I'd give this place a solid four for a kind atmosphere and filling meal.
