Being a parent of a special needs child is challenging in many ways; but, my family appreciates the kindness, support and care of his/her BCBA and RBTs. Because of their evidence-based practices, my child has had the privilege to experience things many other parents would take for granted: enjoyable vacations, successful (and necessary) doctor appointments, the chance to interact positively with peers and the opportunity to increase his/her interactions with the world. I encourage potential families to reach out to the company, tour the facilities and speak to other parents, making their own decision for their child.

It is absolutely not a place I would ever send my child and I want other parents out there to know and be warned. The children who would go to this place are very vulnerable and may not be able to express what's wrong or what happened there and parents should take extra precautions when entering this facility if they take the risk and allow their child to be in the care of that woman who owns it. The rbts aren't trained effectively and are put to work independently with clients before they've taken and passed their exam to be certified. They claim to be a hands off facility, yet they put clients in holds (improperly) when they deem necessary and since that's the case, they shouldn't advertise themselves as a hands off facility if they are not absolutely hands off. The owner is unprofessional and went as far as using the name of an individual she fired to write countless emails and left voicemails defaming this persons character to the parents. I've never known of any place where a boss or owner names a person they've fired and has gone out of their way to speak negatively about them to the clients parents, regardless of their reasoning behind it. It absolutely violates that persons right to privacy. Again, I want to reiterate that I'm exercising my first amendment right to voice my views and experience with this place. My advice, take your child anywhere else.

I looked high and low, scouring the internet for reviews of local language classes offered by IFLA…read more I didn't find any... and now I know why. Bonjour: Back in January 2013, I attempted to sign up for a French I class. I emailed the organization asking about what textbook was used and they said they could not give me any specifics regarding the curriculum. Additionally, even though IFLA had many courses listed on the website as being offered for the specific session, they in fact, informed me that only Spanish I and Sign Language I were offered. Marhaba: Not giving up, in mid-May I registered for an Arabic I class which was listed as an offering on the IFLA website. I was very excited about the class, I gave IFLA my payment information, cleared my Tuesday evenings, and received a confirmation of the course. About a week after I received a confirmation email, I received a voicemail indicating that in fact they were not offering the Arabic I course due to a lack of enrollment. From what I can gather in my experiences with IFLA; lots of classes, at all different levels, are listed as being offered by IFLA each session. However, it is unclear as to whether any of those classes are ever actually taught. No wonder there are no Yelp or other readily available reviews of this program. Don't waste your time.

The class moves quickly and is structured towards basic conversation - exactly what a tourist would need. I had to wait a few sessions before enough people signed up to offer the class, and it was worth the wait!

Today I am receiving the royal tour with Phil Edwards who is in charge of Champions Of Missions. There is a great need for volunteers here. If you have a heart for children and have thought about volunteering some time, you might want to look into Shepherd Community. You can spend as little as an hour a week or as much as you desire. Working with the children will require passing a background check. They have school for kindergarten through high school although not all classes meet here. Some of the high school graduates are the first in the family to graduate. There are classes for adults too. They can learn English, get a GED, learn to sew, and a list of many things. Since poverty is rampant food donations are always needed and appreciated. Shepherd makes sure the children have three meals a day which is a rarity. Churches make up baskets at Christmas time full of makeup and other things women would like and the children are taken to shop and pick out a basket for their mom for a Christmas gift. They are always so excited. Volunteers are needed in many capacities.Volunteer somewhere. You won't regret it. Helping others is one of the greatest feelings and rewards you will ever experience. The pantry is very low on peanut butter, Mac and cheese, Milk, and personal hygiene products. Anything a group or individual can donate is helpful. Go during their open hours or if you have a lot to donate, call them and ask when and where at the building would be best for the delivery. Thanks for reading and thank you if you pass this on to gain volunteers and donations for the children at Shepherd Community! God Bless You
