Using the address on the website or google maps will lead to a side of the station, but there's no Avis there. The roads around the station are a series of one way streets that make it impossible to hunt for where to drop off. The car return is just in the station's parking garage on the lowest (4th floor) so just get to the train station and follow the signs for the garage and take a ticket to enter the garage as if you're just parking there. What was more frustrating is once on the 4th floor there's no signs to indicate where to park the car. Europcar has designated/reserved spots but no such thing for Avis. Bottom line: just park anywhere on the 4th floor then take the elevator to the main hall. Avis has a reception in the North wing.

In our rental in Nimes France, we requested to include insurance that would cover any issues with the car, as we were driving in a foreign country to us. We had a scratch on the driver side of the car and months later, we receive a 1500 euro bill from Sixt for the damage. They claim it is not covered under the insurance we purchased. They had an attorney reach out to us because we would not pay this ridiculous amount for a scratch. Their employees lie to their customers and their contracts are unclear. I'd never rent a car from them again as long as I live.

Mia Casa Guesthouse

September 2011 I stayed at Mia Casa Guesthouse in Arles for 5 nights. The location is superb, in…read morethe old part of town, one block from the Rhone River, several blocks from the Arles Archeological museum in one direction, the Roman ruins in another. Delphine, the proprietor, is warm, knowledgeable, helpful, and interesting. While the rooms are somewhat "rustic," they contain all the necessities (bathroom en suite) and have their own charm. Be ready for stairs, tho Delphine was most helpful in assisting me in carrying my suitcases up to the 3rd floor! Breakfast (typical good and light French breakfast) is either brought to your room or served in Delphine's livingroom....the latter is best in that you have time to visit with her. I would have no hesitation in staying at Mia Casa again.

Train à Vapeur des Cévennes

This was a really great day, and apparently virtually unknown to people who live outside of France!…read more The trip is especially delightful if you go on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, as you will hit the street market in St. Jean (on Tuesday) or in Anduze (on Thursday), the latter of which is pretty massive. It's a fabulous ride through the French countryside, and the steam engine is a good show all in itself. Ride about half-way back in the train if you want the best pictures of the locomotive on the curves. (The train is so long in August, that the end is too far back!) The train was PACKED with French families, all of whom seemed to be having a wonderful day - especially when the train entered the tunnel and all the kids would holler. We had lunch at a Brasserie in St. Jean du Gard, which was just perfect for the two hour layover there. Just happened upon this attraction, and at 15 euros per adult (5 euros for kids, I think - 3 euros for your dog!) it's way more reasonable than a comparable excursion in the US. If you like steam train rides, this is a winner!
