Jocelyn has been cutting my hair on and off for about ten years. She is the BEST. She's the only person I trust to cut my hair shorter than shoulder length! I have lots of thick hair and she just knows what to do to tame it AND still makes me look cool AND teaches me how to style it so I can make myself look cool! My most recent cut with her was my best cut ever, exactly what I asked for. Also, I often hear Jocelyn teaching other stylists while she's doing my hair. She's SO good at her job! I'm always greeted pleasantly by someone at the salon as soon as I walk in, and Jocelyn is always so warm and kind. The atmosphere is cool but still welcoming. Wouldn't even give an approximate estimate for a coloring service, despite providing clear pictures. Not that it's any of their business (and I shouldn't have to tell them this just to get a cost approximation) but I just had major surgery so I was trying to avoid unnecessary pain and wasting my time to get myself over there just to have them tell me it's going to be out of my price range. I asked, "Is it ABOUT $200? $400? 600?" - wouldn't answer. Asked what similar clients have paid - wouldn't answer. Wow! Please know that the stylist Kriesten at the Lakeshore location is 100% untruthful. 3 visits just under $2, 000. Not a typo. Guilts you in to believing your hair is ruined and you need salon treatments. Put down my last stylist before she knew my gal works at their other salon on Pandosy. I have a medical disability that I made Kriesten aware of. When I became ill after yesterday's apt. I called to advise. When no one reached out I drive back down. This supposed professional stylist had the nerve to say "It's not my fault you are sick. What am I supposed to remember every time you come 6 months?" Wow ok, if that was not making me cry, I told her It is ever 2 months. To check the computer. They refused and kicked me out. Worst haircut and experience I've ever had at any salon! Senior stylist did such a bad job with my hair that friends and family members took notice. I went to five other top rated salons to get their opinion and all the professionals I spoke with were amazed at the lack of skill shown in my cut. I also was disappointed in the receptionist. Both times I walked in she barely smiles. I've seen receptionists like this before, where they get so spoiled in their positions they don't even have to try anymore. You are the first point of contact for the salon! You give off the first impression of what the salon experience will be like. Your sense of entitlement is a disservice to your employer! This review is for the stylist Dusty at mod salon on pandosy. I want to preface this by saying I NEVER write reviews but I would never want anyone to have an experience similar to which I did. My usual stylist Whom I love at this salon wasn't available so I was suggested Dusty to highlight and cut my curly hair. She did the service, and I paid $400 in total. A few days later I decided I wasn't happy with the results. Usually I would let it go but for the amount I paid I couldn't. I called the salon to ask if anything could be done - the gentleman on the phone said he spoke to Dusty and advised me to come back in and that absolutely she would be able to correct my highlight job. After driving an hour to get to the salon, and after I expressed my dissatisfaction Dusty only became defensive, and very reluctantly re highlighted my hair without olaplex... because "it costs extra" - when really this salon is touted for using olapex on clients. She missed the top section, and I left feeling like I wasted my entire trip... Dusty made me feel horrible, so uncomfortable, so worthless and I hope she never gets the chance to treat others this way. She also is a curly hair trained stylist but I didn't find her knowledgeable at all with curls and she actually straightened my hair... Luckily after her horrible service I was able to find an amazing stylist close to home and for a fraction of what Dusty charged for a service I could've done with my eyes closed. read more

I saw Jocelyn at Mod hair salon. I was very disappointed in my experience with her to say the least. I could have saved my self $225 by pouring a bottle of black ink of my hair and chopping it off myself! My hair was coloured SOOOO black, people looked at me aghast. Very harsh looking and severe. No warmth at all. Then, to add insult to injury, I wanted a slight trim on my bangs and ends. Jocelyn texerized and cut my bangs so short, I looked like Frankenstein. Then, her "light dusting" extended up cutting 2 inches off my ends that took my so long to grow out! She cut the sides very short and thinned the hell out of my hair. You can see through it when it's wet! I ended up going to two different stylists in 1.5 months to correct the harsh black colour alone. Save yourself a lot of money from a fast talker who could sell ice to Eskimos. read more

Tabatha is terrific. She gave me the best cut I've had in years and I've had my hair cut in quality salons in Calgary, Toronto, the UK and other countries. She also matched my colour perfectly. As a bonus, they have installed really comfortable chairs at the sinks - the back of your neck will never touch the sink! The price of a cut is the typical price you would pay in a smaller city from a senior stylist or salon owner. The hair colour is a quality product, however it is a little pricey. In short, last year I went to Cream and had a terrible experience with the owner. I am very happy that I have discovered Mod Salon and I'll never go back to Cream. read more

As I was driving home I decided to stop and get a hair cut. I am avery nervous nelly when it comes to my hair. It has been a year and a bit since my last cut. I took the big step not knowing what I would get. From the minute I walked into the salon I felt beautiful even with ugly hair in a pony. From the greeting to meeting Jess I was so comfortable. It is a relaxed beautiful salon. The natural products from shampoo to styling makes you want to melt in relaxation. I cannot say enough about Jess she listened to me and made me relax and accept her expertise, it was well worth the trust. I have already booked my follow up. I saw Amy at Mod Salon and when I went it I wanted to keep my long hair and color my hair. When I told he what I wanted I was basically told that what I wanted was no longer in style and she thought I should do something very different than what I asked for. I tried again to tell her what it was I wanted but again she turned me down. I gave in and let her do what she wanted and when I walked out my hair was nothing like what I wanted and I was charged a lot of money for it. I wouldn't recommend Mod Salon if you already have what you want in mind and don't want to pay a lot of money for it read more
