DO NOT GO TO MODISH NAIL SPA IN CONSHOHOCKEN I have never had such a terrible experience at a nail salon. I understand that to some, nails may seem trivial, but when you work hard to afford small moments of self-care, the money you spend matters. On February 7th, I got a dip nail set done, and the service was extremely poor. The nail tech had to redo multiple nails during the appointment because they were lifting and had missed spots. Despite this, I remained patient and still paid $60, plus a $10 tip. I should have spoken up more at the time, but unfortunately, the situation only got worse. Just six days later, two nails had completely fallen off--despite dip nails typically lasting 3-4 weeks. Frustrated that I had essentially wasted $70, I returned to the salon to request a refund. The receptionist informed me she couldn't authorize one but would speak with the owner. Days passed with no response, so I called back and was finally able to speak with him on February 20th around 7:30 PM. What followed was a shocking and unacceptable conversation. The owner initially offered to redo my nails, but given my previous experience, I declined. After that, his demeanor completely changed. He became aggressive, verbally abusive, called me names, accused me of bullying, and refused any refund. He even went so far as to threaten to "throw my ass out" if I ever returned. My boyfriend witnessed the entire interaction. I wasn't even asking for a full refund--just the $60 for the poor service, as I felt the tech at least deserved the tip for their time. After the call, the harassment continued via text. I have since reported this business to the BBB and the nail certification board, but I strongly believe no business should be allowed to treat customers this way. Please think twice before supporting this salon. No one deserves to be treated this way over a simple request for fair service. read more

I have been coming here for years now and all I can say is I have yet to be disappointed with my nails! Their attention to detail is amazing, from my nail shape and filing right down to the design of the store. I always come with a few ideas in mind of what I want to do with my nails. Usually I bring screenshots from Pinterest to show my nail tech. When I show them, they can let me know if it's something they can do OR if they can do the base and ask another tech to do the more complicated designs. So far, my nails have turned out beautifully and similar if not better than the inspiration pictures from Pinterest I show them! And I always get compliments on them too. I had high hopes going in but was disappointed by my experience. I went for a pedicure and asked what the difference was between spa and deluxe and was told the deluxe (which is 10$ more) included a leg mask, callus removal, and longer massage. I opted for that. When the tech did the callus removal she splashed something onto my heels that burned and left one of my heels split. The leg mask was just some cream put on my legs. The massage, however, was the most disappointing. It only lasted 4 minutes, which felt incredibly rushed. I was really disappointed I paid for the deluxe when I could have gotten a more thorough experience paying less at other salons. I will say the space was clean and the receptionist was super nice, but I don't think I will be back unless they improve the pedicure experience. read more

If you get a pedicure, they open a new pedicure kit. Each client gets a new kit. If you go to another nail salon they are reusing the single use items especially without sanitizing. The salon is clean and well lit. They offer drinks such as wine, soda and water. The staff is kind and gentle! If you go to other salons they speak in another language the entire time without speaking to the client. Bottom line I love Modish! Walked by so many times, looking in always movement and buzzing. finally bought a gift card for my Beautiful Lady. Made the appointment today earlier in the day for both of us to get the full works. The "girl" at the reception was less than nice upon doing so. I had a bad taste. We Show up for the appointment to be asked "What are you here for?" No eye contact and was busier talking to a co worker to even take my needs down before she is awkwardly talking across the room to flag a technician or two down for us. She then gave me papers with only pedicures not manicure listed. Ok no big deal then from her in a seated position stomach hanging out of her outfit says to take the third and fourth seat. They were absolutely disgusting. We stood awkwardly by the seats for a few minutes as she is still calling across the room for someone to help. She then stands and says "sit there" sit down. I showed her that they were dirty and not even prepared for guests. Then she confusingly instructed us to sit in the next set of not cleaned stations. Absolutely dirty and disgusting. Dried up lotions, nail cuttings and floor was absolutely gross. Disrespectful and no regard with professionalism to guests. Unpleasant and dirty. I decided to try out Modish nails in Plymouth Meeting because I had heard good things about the Roxborough location and I frequent the White Marsh shopping plaza. They definitely did no disappoint! I went in here for a gel refill with almond nails. I was told it would be $40 and then I check out I was told it was 60. I did get a design so that was 10 extra dollars and then apparently a cut down is five more dollars but the extra five dollars did not make any sense to me at all and then the lady is yelling in her language to the front desk person trying to justify her pricing. Really is not professional when they give you a price and then I check out your given 20 extra dollars price. Just be upfront from the get go and if somebody's interested in services they would still be serviced But, to go through the whole service and then have it changed at the end is really unprofessional. in the past, I've had some good manicures here, but they have people who don't like to take the time to properly remove gel and other. damaging peoples hands is not OK it's going to take my nails probably at least six months to recover. you have to soak nails before removing gel, not go with the auto shaver that destroys and thin nails. Just leaving my first time at Modish after my friend recommended it (many, many times). Upon entering the space it's beautiful, clean and had great music playing (seemed to be a Sza channel) at a perfect volume. But the main point that was sticking out to me was the smell, or the lack of smell. I don't remember ever entering a nail salon (and this is no small salon) that didn't smell like acetone. There's no other overpowering scent to cover up polish and remover....there's just no smell. It's pleasant - and you notice it. I dealt with the young lady at the front desk, a tech named Felicia who wrapped my nails and a second tech named Chow who did my dip manicure. Every staff member was nice, genuine (they each had their own personality), made me feel comfortable being there for the first time and, obviously most importantly, they did an excellent job on my nails. I'll definitely be back to Modish Nail Spa and you should check them out too. I usually had decent experiences here as I have been coming since they have opened but Thursday I had the worst experience. I booked the appointment online for dip and acrylic removal and when I got there the lady did not want to do that and gave me a refill instead. I told her what shape I wanted and she changed them and told me she liked them square better. She cut my cuticles with the electric file and I was also charged more than normal, probably because I asked her to change my shape back after she liked them square. I did not complain paid and left. Two days later, my nail broke. I will not be returning because when I went in with a complaint they didn't even apologize and made me pay to get the nail fixed. read more
