I called to get some leather seats installed, was rude and very condescending, seemed like I had made him mad for not buying directly from him. He was scheduled to install my seats by Katzkin but after meeting him and getting the same condescending attitude I said maybe I should call Katzkin for a different installer, He said "Good Idea" and walked away. Probably does nice work but with a rude and better than thou attitude, I would never use this shop for any work. Katzkin did give me a new and much friendlier place. read more

Found out about Modesto Auto Restyling through the Katskin website as they are an authorized installer of Katskin's factory quality automotive leather. Jim contacted me the same day as I submitted the request online with an estimate for my 2015 Toyota Tundra Crewmax and after speaking with him decided to come down that same day and check out the color options in person. Jim was extremely helpful in deciding on color options and after looking at their work both on instagram and firsthand I decided to put down a deposit for my order which he submitted right away. The turnaround time was less than a week to receive the material which was awesome considering covid and all. Jim called as soon as the leather came in yesterday so I dropped off the truck and had it back this afternoon once installation was complete. I was blown away once I saw the truck interior. The leather is truly factory quality and the team at modesto auto restyling are masters of their craft. Their workmanship was immaculate and the attention to detail was very evident. You even have the option to add seat heaters during the work if you choose for an additional cost. To say I was highly impressed is an understatement. That rich new leather smell when I open my doors makes me feel like I have a badass brand new truck. I met Jim over 15 years ago to have a sunroof installed in my 03 Silverado Extended Cab Quadrasteer Truck. They did an outstanding job on my truck in a timely matter. Move the clock ahead fifteen years, back to Jim to have him redo my seats in my truck in leather adding heated & cooled seats, trimming out the door panels, & changing the carpet. They came across a few issues like a broken seat pan in which they took care of including placing the heat/cooled switches in a spot that I wanted but were not sure if it would work. Jim was beyond accommodating, friendly, and professional. The craftsmanship of the leather and install was amazing. The leather and stitching is thick, and Jim has an impeccable eye for color matching. Turning to Jim's character...my mother-in-law is a medical professional with no time to eat or sleep, let alone pick up a car from a dealership on a weekday. The owner Jim Karp was so rude, I would not recommend doing business with Modesto Restyling. I spoke to Jim about a warranty issue and he was not only rude, his business ethics was appalling. After meeting with him in person his attitude didn't change and he put his fingers in my face indicating how he's business for 42 yrs and made me feel like I was wasting his time. I ended up calling Chase Chevrolet and they were able to fix the problem, it was a minor reset issue. It's unfortunate that Jim wouldn't even give me his time to look into this problem. I hope Chase Chevrolet will reconsider using another business that appreciates customer service. read more

After reading the one-star reviews regarding the rudeness of the man or men who answer the phone for this place, I thought that maybe some people were just a bit sensitive. However, after calling just a few minutes ago, I have to say that the guy who answered the phone really is "rude." Perhaps very curt, unfriendly, and condescending would be a better way to describe his tone throughout our one-minute phone call. This might be an awesome place to have other kinds of work done and I would hope they are very good at what they do, but because of this guy's attitude over the phone, I and many others will never go there to find out. Not only that, if anyone asks me about this place, I will share this review with them. It would really help if that guy had some professional customer service training. I have had professional customer service training, and there is no way in hell that I would talk to any potential customer the way he talked to me.
