Throughout the call, Attorney Tiffany Chiu repeatedly emphasized that this was only a 15-minute free meeting and kept stressing that I would need to pay $500 upfront in order to discuss anything in detail. Before I even had a chance to respond or ask further questions, she abruptly stated that I could "find someone else to do it." I fully understand that legal services are paid services. That is not the issue. The issue is the dismissive attitude, constant fee emphasis, and lack of professionalism during what was presented as an initial consultation. I would strongly caution others before engaging Tiffany Chiu and Modern Wealth Law. I do not read much English, especially not legal documents, and it was clearly communicated in advance that I would need explanations in Chinese. Tiffany assured my daughter that she would help explain everything, but that never happened. Instead, I was pressured to sign the agreement and pay the full fee immediately, without any explanation of her service agreement. The initial meeting was only about 30 minutes and very high-level. There was little effort to truly understand my needs or explain the plan. Most of the focus was on getting her service agreement signed and payment completed after went through the in-take forms that my daughter helped me submit to her prior to the meeting. The draft estate plan we received was not ready for execution. It contained grammatical mistakes, inconsistent legal wording, and provisions of self-appointed Authority to her firm that did not match my intentions. My daughter had to spend considerable time reviewing and correcting the documents. On top of that, I was charged $575 for a deed transfer service that we had clearly declined in advance. My daughter, a licensed real estate broker, had already offered to handle this. We had to follow up to get that charge reversed. Due to these concerns, I terminated the engagement. Instead of resolving things reasonably, she refused to issue a fair refund and attempted to charge additional $1,000 fees for work that was not authorized during our fee dispute. This was a stressful and frustrating experience. I expected professionalism, clarity, and care, especially given the importance of estate planning, but unfortunately did not receive that. read more
