This was my first and last time here. I got a gel pedicure and regular manicure. Only two people working and they both alternated on my friend and I, but rushed the entirety of the session. They applied regular polish on my nails and didn't wait for the first layer to dry, they just applied a second layer immediately after. The lady was kind but the man was not, when he noticed I was uncomfortable he kept grunting and laughing under his breath. He also started being more rough with me once he knew I wasn't happy. He cut off more than just dead cuticle and now that cut is still hurting 2 days later. I think I might have disgusted him because when it came to massaging, he put in little to no effort, I would have preferred no massage. I really tried to like this place but it just wasn't a good fit. They treated my friend better than me, so maybe it was just me. read more

They told me they would do pink and white acrylic. They did an extremely thin layer of pink, painted the white part on and sent me on my way. The acrylic is bubbled, already starting to show crack and the nails are crooked and flat as tile. I would have been so grateful if she had just said she couldn't do it and sent me on my way. Absolutely mortified with the quality of work at this salon. I walked in and was told to have a seat at a dirty station that was covered in nail clippings and nail dust. A man came out and started working on my nails. I kept telling him to cut them shorter and he kept arguing with me saying that he didn't want to cut them too short. Went here with an open mind after trying almost every shop in the morongo basin. Paid 45$ for gel nails. One nail broke within ten minutes at home because the "manicurist" glued the tips on too close to the end. There's dips in every one of my nails. Not sure how this place is still collecting business. Also, the guy who did my nails had cut them too short the first time and said he would charge more to do longer ones. Replaced the short ones for longer ones and they still are crap. Very unhappy with my acrylic nails I recieved 2 days ago. They were under staffed which is understandable if there was a call out or something unforeseeable. However, you do not continue to take clients when you only have 2 people in the whole place. My friends and I called ahead for 2 pedicures and 1 full set of nails. We walked into 3 people already between the 2 of them. They sat us all down in pedicure chairs, 1 of which was not cleaned from the previous pedicure client. She then began juggling between 3 pedicures and 1 acrylic paint! I waited for my set in the meantime. The nail tech, Dave, then took me as soon as he was finished with the other, without cleaning his station. I really should have walked out then. I asked for short, rounded nails and warned not to thick as I do hair and work with my hands constantly. I wanted simple black. While he got them short I have never seen thicker or more crooked nails. I didnt know if he was finished or not but then he sent me over to wait for the other nail tech to paint my nails while he immediately started another client...without sanitizing his station. When she finished painting the 3 pedicures she came to me and she tried to take the paint out and I showed her my super thick crooked nails. She immediately agreed and tried to drill them down. As she started, 2 more walked in so she really began to hurry. As she filed the sides of my nails she made me bleed and I yanked back and said "Ouch!". She mumbled something and kept going. She kept looking at the other 2 clients. I left with 3 sore fingers, still thick, square nails and a terrible experience. 2 days later I have an Infected nail bed and a bandage wrapped around the finger that bled on both sides of the nail from excessive, rough nail filing. I was really unhappy with the lack of any cleaning procedures during our time there, especially in these covid times. I work in a salon and know exactly what they should be doing to be in compliance with state board. I will never return to this nail shop and sincerely hope they take a step back and ramp up there cleaning procedures as well as how many clients they can ACTUALLY work on in a give time. went around 10 am , I got in right away . the nails are sloppy work , they're square tipped and uneven - they got chemicals on the tips of my fingers and it burned me . the one male that helped me had been rude telling me to relax my hand yet he tilted it so roughly and held it so tight that I couldn't relax it . I got several cuts around my cuticle and my thumbs aren't even fully painted . I'm going to pay another place just to take them off , I'll never return . It used to be a great salon for pedicures. i hadn't been since before Covid until today. It was obvious the guy who did mine didn't want to be there or maybe he was having a bad day? I went with a friend so as we were chatting and I didn't notice the poor job until I got home. Upon closer look I saw my cuticles weren't trimmed or cleaned up, nails were crooked and no improvement on my calloused heals. The massage was nothing but a one handed rub to my shin bone. I was a walk in. They said they had time when really they didn't (should have just told me that) . Had to wait almost 45 minutes to even get with a nail person. The equipment was filthy. FILTHY. Mail dust all over everything. Everything they used was totally dirty and covered in nail dust. When he did my nails he was very rushed. Nails are very uneven and look horrible. Old paint color showing through on sides. Nails have bubbles in the paint. I wanted my nails shaped almond shape and the gut refused to do it. When they took off my previous pink color they left tons of it still on my nail and it was showing through the new color. I asked them to fix the paint on the side that was obvious and the guy was visibly annoyed started roughly filing my skin.. my nails seriously look like I let a 10 year old do them. I went to Modern Nails yesterday for a pedicure and it was a terrible experience. The man began to do my pedicure and in the beginning I told him three times that my left big toe was sensitive due to an injury I previously had on that toe. He completely disregarded anything I had mentioned to him and he began to dig into my toe. During the pedicure he continuously kept walking away from what he was doing. He did not give me the massage in which I paid for and once he was done the lady began to help me. She dug deep into my left toe and pulled the cuticles out on the sides. Later that night I had a terrible throbbing pain in my toe, it was swollen, red, hot, and had blisters. Today, when I got up to go to work I was not able to put ANY pressure on my toes to walk and the blisters began to grown down my left toe. This entire experience at Modern Nails has been to the utmost painful experience I've ever had. I will not return to this nail salon and I recommend you don't either. The utensils are NOT sanitary, the pedicure tub is wiped down with water no cleaner, and it is not a place I will continue to send my business to. read more

This place should be shut down by the health department. Walked in and was told it would be a 30 min wait for a pedicure she told me to come back in 30 I gave her my name and gladly came back. Came back and she said she forgot about me and they had 10 other people waiting. She sat me at a DIRTY chair and I sat with my feet soaking for about 30min before anyone came. They didn't scrub my feet, clean my nails, trim or do anything. She literally took my polish off and put a new one on. When I asked why she didn't trim or clean my nails or callus's she said "I did it you just weren't paying attention." Meanwhile she painted one toe at a time and left to start another girls nails WHILE WEARING THE SAME GLOVES SHE TOUCHED ANOTHER LADYS AND MY FEET WITH and then touched the new girls hands. The new girl she was helping was sat at a dirty table with old towels with stains and they didn't even clean it off. Tina is amazing and is a very hard worker. She paints quick and it is not a bad job at all. David has no Idea what he is doing. He has been here for a very long time, but he acts like this is his first time doing this. He is too rough with filing. First of all, you are not supposed to file the top of anyones real nail, EVER. And to use a drill to take off gel is absurd. Second of all, it should not take you 40 min to take care of other customers before you finish my POLISH CHANGE. Gel polish change takes 20 min tops. The pedicure it self was very poor service - the massage part - he rubbed about 4 inches of my chin and that was it! It would have been better with no massage at all. You could make an appointment for an hour from when you went in and come back and they are working on customers that weren't there before you got there and you could wait a good half hour before they get to you. I was a walk in on June 5th for a basic manicure. Shop was not busy. I sat at table with a man. As he provided my service I noticed he chattered alot and repeated some steps of manicure over and over and barely took any dead skin off around nails, not performing any steps effectively. I think he kept talking so I wouldn;t notice the bad manicure. Also table we used was very dirty and lamp hanging in my face blocking manicurist and I. He did give a decent hand massage but when he started painting my nails he did not wipe off oil first and did not put base coat. I questioned this and a woman in the shop took his place and finished manicure. I left and that evening the polish they used started to peel off my nails. I went back the next day to have them done over or get my money back for this horrible manicure. The small thin woman in the shop started yelling at me in Asian language in front of some other customers motioning for me to go. I left and went home and redid my nails myself! What a waste of my time and money going to this salon that was disgusting. I dont know how they are in business either! read more
