Last week Keith M provided an incredibly good experience for our carpet cleaning. Keith was positive, considerate, friendly and professional. He started and finished with a great attitude. The work he did at our house was exceptional. The truck mounted vacuum, the attention to detail, and his focus made our carpets look like new again. Little things like the white booties, furniture pads and stain remover seemed normal but helped make our experience better. I wish you could give like a 4.8 review here- our consultation didn't occur exactly at the scheduled time, and when the project started one team member showed up and got the ball rolling, but had to wait to start the stretching until the other arrived, and again he was a little late. I can see why he was late though, the guy we were waiting on in both instances is extremely personable, and it would seem passionate about the process. He'll talk you through it, he'll talk you out of changing your floors to laminate, he'll talk to you about whatever you want to talk about in order to make you comfortable. The thing that made him late is the very thing that caused us to go with him over a guy who was $30 cheaper! The other quote we got was lower, but the guy wouldn't talk to us about the process and acted like we were a burden on him and was overall unpleasant- so we went with modern. I was very happy with Modern all in all. They did a great job stretching the carpet without impacting our lives too much, they dealt with a few furniture items that were too big for my husband and I to get out of the way. They cleaned the carpet and 3 years of wear seemed to just disappear- we have 2 huge dogs and a somewhat muddy backyard in the winter. That is not an easy task. I did notice after the stretching a couple locations where at the end where a metal strip joins one floor to another, that a few carpet fibers were poking out on the side of the non-carpet floor. These were easily removed by my husband and I as we noticed them, not really something worth calling them out to fix. I'm sure they would have, had we complained but it just wasn't that big of a deal, we'd rather not have to schedule an extra appointment for easy fixes. Also, modern offered some flexibility with weekends, where the other place we called acted like we were jerks just for asking the question. Sometimes, it's worth an extra $30 to work with nice people. They are going to be in your home for a few hours, it's nice to not feel like you have to tiptoe around someone acting aggro in your home. You can feel good about going with modern. read more

We used Modern Carpet cleaning for a move-out. The young man showed up very late coming from another job and then took a lot of time trying to figure out how to hook up his van to the water spout outside the house. Then he took way longer than any other carpet company to clean the carpet. It seemed like his van didn't have good suction because the carpets (berber-style) were soaked and took a couple days to dry completely. Also, one of the hose connections came loose and dirty water spilled all over my hardwood floors! He seemed very inexperienced even though he assured us that he was doing most of the company's jobs now. The worst thing is that the tenants that moved in asked if we even had the carpets cleaned at all because they found debris. I had to show them the receipt to prove that we did it. There are so many other carpet cleaning companies in Chico that do a better job with less headache. read more

I really wanted to give this company a five star review based on the technician alone. He was great, very friendly, explained everything in great detail, and really just went that extra mile that a lot of companies these days fail to do. After our carpets were cleaned they did in fact look much better though I was a little disappointed that a few stains didn't come out. One of those stains was a solution of Epsom salt and water that I spilled. I was surprised that it stained at all but the technician told me the Epsom salt attracted more dirt. I'm not sure why this couldn't come out and it still bothers me to look at. My problem now is that I noticed the other day, the bottoms of my feet were black. I hadn't gone outside or worn shoes and I couldn't figure out how they had gotten like that. I scrubbed them down in the tub thinking it was a fluke thing and the next day the same thing happened. We take our shoes off when we come inside, we do have pets I can't imagine how they could get the carpet so filthy. I'm afraid now that whatever solution was used to clean the carpets is now attracting more dirt just like the Epsom salt as soap tends to do. I'm frustrated that I just had our carpets cleaned in April and now I have to have them cleaned again two months later. read more

Called for an appointment and they were super nice and knowledgeable. Day of the appointment I forgot what time they were to arrive so I called again and they were very friendly and efficient in reminding me of my time. The two individuals who arrived super nice. They vacuumed before starting and the vacuum was pretty stinky so I was a little worried. We left and returned home about 7hours later after they were done. The house did not smell of the vacuum so I was very pleased. The carpet was still very damp, we went to beds with all the fans running and in the morning the carpets were still slightly damp. We were told it would dry in about 4 hours without the heater or fans. Not the case. Carpet looks great in the center however the edges of the carpet (against the wall/baseboards) are still very dark and appear dirty. So I knocked off 2 stars for the still damp carpet (been over 24 hours) and for the edges. read more

The owner evaluated my floors, made suggestions, broke down the process and reassured it would be done. The service was provided the day after and spot treated, triple processed clean. I want to write this review based off of 5 criteria. Showing up on time, attitude of carpet cleaner, How good of job that was done Drying time Spots returning On the first issue the company lost a few points. They were a few minutes late and I would of appreciated a call. Granted it was only a few minutes but. Attitude of cleaner: The guy that cleaned the carpets was very polite. I like to have a service person that is happy doing what he does. This guy seemed like he was. The quality of the job is where this company really shined. They moved my furniture, scrubbed the carpets and applied a deodorizer. I was really impressed with the effort they put out. Now one thing I really liked. I had this red stain that my daughter caused when she dropped some juice drink on the carpet. The last cleaner told me that it wouldn't come out and it didn't. I told the guy that it wouldn't come out and it didn't last time but he said he woud try anyways. He spent about 15 minutes on that spot and it was almost completly gone. They gained a few extra credit points on that issue. Carpets tooIk about 3 hours to dry. I expected that. That is about average for the times it took when I have had my carpets cleaned. And finally, No spots returned. The carpets were cleaned about 2 weeks ago and they still look great. I will definantly use this company again. read more

A very positive experience all the way around. The owner came out to give me the estimate, very friendly and prompt. We agreed on the special offer they were running and he threw in an extra section in the master bedroom for free! The technician was right on time for the appointment and he did a great job and knocked it out very quickly, much faster than I would have anticipated with as much grime was built up in my carpets. The drying process wasn't a pain as some of them can be and the carpets have stayed in great shape as I have learned to take my shoes off when entering the house...LOL I highly recommend Modern carpet and will be using them again in the near future. read more

I had Modern Carpet Cleaning come out to clean three bedrooms and a sofa. I do need to include that I have two chihuahuas a cat and a five year old boy...and white carpets...I found out after getting the chihuahuas that they are sneaky peeing machines, the cat sheds like no other and the five year old is...well...a five year old. The carpet look brand new, that couch looks brand new and I am amazed. I "knew" the carpets would not come clean and they proved me wrong. I have used several carpet cleaners in town and modern is, by far, the best. read more
