I've been coming to this place for over a year now. Start visiting here after I had my knee surgery or right before my knee surgery on my meniscus. And I realized today I don't think I've ever done a review on them so today I did a review on them but having problems with my knee and a little blood flow as far as blood clot build up and they took care of me like always got to come on Mondays. This was my first time to try acupuncture and I was very pleased with the results. The receptionist was very helpful and educated about the entire process. I saw Dr. Ingen and she was outstanding! The Dr. took the time to ask me questions about my expectations and about my medical history. I could barely notice the very small needles and I had zero pain or discomfort. After my time on the table I was very relaxed and peaceful. When I checked out the receptionist made me a very pleasant hot tea. After I sat down in my car I felt like I had a 60 minute massage. I signed up for a package deal for 8 more sessions. I'm a believer in this traditional Chinese method. read more

It appears they do not want my business. I booked a first-time appointment for my wife on Friday 11/03/23 at 12:44 p.m. via their website. An hour later, without explanation, an employee named Melissa Ferguson canceled the appointment and no attempt was made by that employee, or any other, to schedule my wife for another time. This is very unprofessional and an indication that they do not care about their customers. So be it, I can find another company who is willing to help my wife. Finally, having them remove your information from their database is not an easy task. I submitted a request and received a response that I need to get "permission" from the local facility to complete the request. User beware. Update - Mon 11/6/23 at 10:08 a.m. Received a phone call from the owner, Ryman Peters, who called to tell me that my wife still had an appointment as I had previously scheduled. I told him that the appointment does not appear under my profile, where it once did, plus I got the cancellation email. Mr. Peters claims that since Modern Acupuncture is a medical facility, the appointment must be under her name and when they changed the appointment in the system, the "system" sent out the cancellation notice. That's fine, I can understand that, but no one called me to explain any of these changes and that's my issue. He had no explanation or even an apology why I did not hear from anyone about these changes. Instead, he just reassured me that the appointment was there. I then told him to cancel the appointment because I found another place who would see my wife, and he was not happy, reiterating that people make mistakes. He then goes on to tell me he's a small business owner and negative reviews can severely impact his business. Mind you, still no apology for the confusion or his employees not doing their job, or how he's going to make sure this does not happen again in the future. Instead, Mr. Peters just wants to blame the system. He repeated that it's the law to keep her medical information separate so I proceeded to tell him that I am a lawyer. Thus, I wanted him to explain to me why the "system" allowed me to put my wife in my profile if each person must have their own account (see screenshot). He didn't have an explanation, but instead asked me what area of law I practice. When I told him I was a personal injury attorney, he immediately replies, "that explains it." That was the end of the phone call because his response about my profession tells me all I need to know about him. He doesn't care about the client or what his staff is or is not doing. I visited this location for four or five months. I know that I don't handle stress well (trauma response) and this was recommended for health reasons so this seemed like an excellent course of action. Overall, I was pleased with the experience aside from a couple visits where I noticed bruising on my feet. My decision to stop my monthly subscription was based on my last visit. It was so upsetting to me that I let my unused visits lapse so I wouldn't have to go into this location again. Prior to that visit, everyone had been pretty cordial and pleasant. On my last visit, I was asked about my weight, about what I eat, how big my food portions are, what I do for exercise (if any), what I needed to do if I was having trouble in my attempts to be a SMBC, and finally, when I was thoroughly upset, that I needed to either go to counseling or write in a journal to get to the bottom of my feelings. The weight comment is a trigger for me so I knew why I was upset in that regard. The last comment really made me mad though and was unjustified. For someone who knows extremely little about me, I was thoroughly appalled and angry that I would be given such a blasé comment. I have kept journals for 30+ years and I have gone to counseling when warranted. To imply that dealing with feelings should be so simple is arrogant and uninformed. It really is a shame. read more

My wife found Modern Acupuncture after doing some research and came to find out that the first visit was FREE! She signed me up without informing me, go figure lol, and I went in on December 4th, 2019 for the first time. To put in perspective, my brain surgery occured on October 29, 2019 and had been suffering from facial paralysis since then. After just a couple visits, I could feel my right eyebrow and right side of my lip twitching ever so slightly!! I know it will take time and I have only been to less than a dozen visits as of right now, but have full confidence that they are helping speed up the process in a non-evasive way that encourages the body to do what it already does, HEAL! BUT, this particular location or acupuncture would not be the same if it were not for the owner of this place - Ryman Peters. The second I walked in through his doors he greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel so relaxed. Especially, going in fully knowing that needles were to be placed into my body in an ungodly manner lol. Mr. Peters TOOK THE TIME to know his client, ME! That is the difference in any business or any store. We as clients are just dollar bills going into a revolving door, with no connection to anyone. Mr. Peters actually WANTS to know your story. It is impossible to learn everyone's story as he has to run a business, but the simple fact that he TRIES to does make a difference. Mr. Peters and I, in my short time there, are actual friends. His southern hospitality is most welcoming and with the anxiety of needles making you tingle, it is much needed haha. The lady who does the actual acupuncture was very sweet. However, I felt compelled to write this review because, although I liked the service and would consider trying it again, my experience at this particular location would prevent me from going back. I used the free service option that they had on their website. My 14 year old daughter had expressed interest in acupuncture so I thought it might be fun. I picked the 6:30 time slot. I also completed the paperwork online. We got there at 6:34, and the lady at the front suggested I reschedule or I could have the appointment but it would be cut short. What? I'm four minutes late. We went ahead and had the appointment. I think we waited about 20 minutes in the chairs before anyone came over. The chairs were supposed to be heated and massage chairs, but no one bothered to turn mine on. Afterward, the receptionist (same lady) tried to sell us a package, which I expected. I asked whether I should tip, and she became indignant and told me that the practitioner had a master's degree in Chinese medicine and that she'd gone to school 6 years to do that work. I mentioned that it kind of hurt on a few of the pins and she curtly stated "that means you really need help in those areas!" Okay. Whatever. I left. I liked the service, but won't go back to that location. I think the business model is interesting, but I'd go to another business altogether to get these services, simply bc 1) not sure if they treat paying clients this way (what felt like incomplete service), 2) I don't like the customer service. read more

Acupuncture has been the best thing I have done for myself; I wish I had done it sooner!! The acupuncturist Maria is very knowledgeable and always does an amazing job with me. I have had amazing results in just a few treatments; and I am definitely making this part of my wellness care plan. The front desk staff is also compassionate and caring. I did not have a good experience. This felt like fast food acupuncture. The interface was minimal with Marie, the acupuncturist. After needle insertion she never came back until time to remove needles. Then high pressure closing. Then emails. Then actual cold calls. Felt like a time share... I have been struggling with back pain since November 2018. I found out I had a synovial cyst pressing on my sciatic nerve causing pain in my left leg. I had the cyst taken care of in February. I had been receiving physical therapy when I injured my back. It had been 4 weeks since injuring my back. My doctor upped my medications but I was not getting much relief. My husband suggested acupuncture. I found Modern Acupuncture through my FB page and scheduled an appointment. I was delighted to find that my first session would be free. I received the cosmetic treatment on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. The owner was working the front desk. He was super friendly and explained everything in great detail. The acupuncturist was friendly and thorough in her explanation of treatment. I felt a little relief immediately after my session. Sunday, my husband and I were hosting a BBQ. I was in the kitchen and my husband mentioned that I looked like I was walking better. That is when I noticed my pain had decreased from a 7/8 to a 3/4. I did not feel the need to take my medication and was able to enjoy the day with friends and family. I returned on Memorial Day and signed up for the traditional package. I have been back several times. I try to go every other day. I can definitely feel a difference. My pain is not completely gone, yet. But is definitely more manageable than it has been in weeks.
