I consider myself an acupuncture snob. I have always relied on acupuncture for ailments in my life. Stress, rashes, infertility, plantar fasciitis, stiff neck and reflux. And I have always paid hundreds of dollars for a fancy private session, that sometimes would take hours. Fast forward to today, I'm new to Charlotte, do not know any practitioners and have limited time. I am having various issues and need help right away. I took a chance and tried modern acupuncture even though it's more of a community setting and not what I'm accustomed to. My goodness, I could not have been more happy. Dr Zachary Hunt was the best doctor I've ever had. His knowledge with herbs, homeopathy and accupuncture was far superior to any chinese medicine practitioner I've paid hundreds to see. Not only did I recieve some amazing suggestions on how to continue my physical healing, I left feeling 100%. I have been struggling for 5 weeks and left in amazing shape. The atmosphere was clean, incredibly zen and relaxing. I am definitely going to be a regular to maintain the best health I can. I recommend to everyone, give this a try. It may not be your typical idea of accupuncture but I cant say enough. This is alternative treatment for the modern world!! read more

There is only one issue gong on here, as best as I can tell. Zac Hurt does not work full time and is only there a few days each week. That is a problem as I have to think about which days he is there each week and plan my time accordingly. He is clearly the most well educated person there, as he is a naturopathic doctor. While I get acupuncture from him, I like to tap into his vast array of knowledge by asking him a lot of questions, especially about alternative medicine and non-traditional approaches for fixing things. He is so smart and very kind to share stuff. He will even write things down for me to remember when I get home. All that said, he is an outstanding acupuncturist. Nobody else comes close to his educational background and his knowledge of alternative medicine. Five stars for Zac. I will follow him wherever he goes, if he ever leaves. read more

I have treatments three times a week for specific issues and for general well-being. Each acupuncturist has their own style and I like to vary who I see because each is a little different. Sometimes the needles hurt more than others (it is always very tolerable, however) and it seems to be more a function of how I'm doing rather than the acupuncture technique. In fact the discomfort is an indication to me of how much the treatment is needed. I would lengthen the sessions to 45 minutes rather than 30. Otherwise I am pleased with the experience and delighted that it is affordable. read more

Not the right way to do business, not a kind way to treat people. Especially in the industry of healing people and lowering stress. I was going out of the country for training in March, and Gina convinced me to freeze my membership instead of cancel (I really wanted to cancel). As we all know, the pandemic really started to spiral, and I rushed to get back home. A short while after I made it through that chaos and returned home, I noticed the $69 autodebit on my card and realized the contract had automatically unfrozen. Now, I fully understand how these contracts and autodebits are structured, and I completely understand that under NORMAL circumstances, I have no right to try to ask for that to be refunded. A pandemic does not fall under that category. I called and kindly explained my circumstances, that I came home to have lost my job due to the pandemic, that I live with family and cannot risk sitting in a chair in a small room with other people for 35 minutes. They would not let me extend the 2 acupuncture treatments I paid for even 1-2 months when the curve of the pandemic would've hopefully started flattening in the area. Gina condescendingly spat out, "WHAT, you want me to like, keep those treatments on your account until like AUGUST or something?! I can't do THAT!" ... Hundreds of thousands of people are dying, others are getting extremely sick with potentially lifelong complications, a ton of us have lost our livelihoods... Yes, I was hoping you would let me use those treatments a couple months later, and I believe that was a reasonable request. I had been supporting this business for a couple years and spent thousands there. This business owner is downright unethical, and I highly recommend you support other businesses where the owner will treat you in a much more ethical and kind manner. read more

Really unfortunate that their process for cancelling memberships are not altered at all during COVID-19. My card was charged for two months when I haven't even been bc I didn't call to tell them I wanted to cancel. When I stated I have had a lot going on as everyone else and that coming in for accupuncture amidst a pandemic was not top Of my list. And even tho my account had been frozen rather than canceled as I had asked initially in March, the charges started again without me even remembering. I was told that she would not refund either and would "not charge me for july" since I "should" be charged since I wasn't giving 30 days notice. Sign. You would think there would be some sort of understanding during this time so that customers would want to return when they felt comfortable. Which I had stated only to have her respond with telling me that I should come in because of all they are doing to make it safe. Safe is relative esp When the customer has already stated they aren't comfortable. Trying to convince the customer why they should is invalidating and pushy So unless you want to get locked in, I suggest you look elsewhere read more

Beware the monthly plan! It automatically renews, and I couldn't remember when, so I asked the front desk and got "March 2020" when the answer was actually "December 2019." I was considering cancelling (see why below), but after getting hit with this, and not being able to get a refund, it sealed the deal. I even told them I didn't want the visits that came with the monthly fee and they still would not refund me. The acupuncture itself is good (Francie is awesome) but the long waits (they overbooked a lot) and other issues I had with the monthly plan just made it not worth the effort. read more

This business model is suppose to mainstream acupuncture so it is convenient and affordable. The place appeared to be very clean, nice heated massage chairs that adjust. There are rows of these chairs separated by a curtain. I felt a little uncomfortable that others could hear your health complaints/history while you talk to the therapist. The lack of privacy was off putting and I didn't really feel like I was able to relax fully. The acupuncture itself was relaxing, however did not seem to do anything beyond that- I guess that's why they recommend two sessions a week for a month to see results. read more

This was my first time experiencing acupuncture and I must say it was overall one of the best experiences yet! I was greeted by the receptionist with a warm smile who walked me through the signing in process. The initial paperwork was short and brief and followed up with a simple 5 minute introduction video to give me a view of what to expect. Once that was over I was able to select an herbal tea which would be prepared and ready for me after my acupuncture session was complete. After sliding back the huge wooden door, I entered into "paradise" where the music was soothing, the massage chairs were relaxing and the zen of it all was serene. Mariam was my acupuncture therapist and she started off explaining the cosmetic session vs traditional. While traditional focused primarily on the body, cosmetic was for fine lines and wrinkles. So of course me being the spontaneous person I am, I opted to go with the cosmetic. The needles were quick and easy and honestly only on certain spots (which she made me aware of) did I really feel any pinch I was reclined in a peaceful sleep to allow the needles to do their work. After what seemed like an eternity of bliss, I was brought back to earth by a soft voice letting me know my session was over. As promised, my tea was ready for me and I started my day not feeling the same as I came in. read more

Don't get trapped!!! If you sign up for a package, you sell your soul!!! I started MA to aid in my recover from surgery & my husband joined to support me. He was supposed to be on the same "month to month" plan as I was. We found out our insurance would pay for visits and tried to cancel, per their "cancellation policy". Mine went fine but all of a sudden he was locked into a 6 month contract. We have tried to cancel numerous times for him, each time with a different excuse and then finally with a promise it was done right. However, we found out tonight it was never done!!! Now they want to charge us a $19 a month "convenience fee" to let him use the visits he has accrued. They want us to pay for the privilege of using the treatments that we have already been forced to pay for??? Um NO!!! I firmly believe in acupuncture but not this place!!! We've asked to speak with the franchise owner multiple times but have never been able to, despite promises she will give us a call. Contacting the BBB tomorrow!!! read more

This place is good enough! It's convenient, good hours and I like the subscription plan. I swear by acupuncture but today I had Frances(Francesca?) and brought a guest who'd never tried acupuncture before. He said he'll never try it again. I'd usually give him crap about it and say it's because he's sensitive to needles but I'm not....and she hurt!!! A lot!! Some needles she pressed in too deep, put it into a tendon (wrist) which hurt like hell or slowly pressed it into the point. It was so odd. I'll be taking some time from going and keep going to my regular acupuncturist uptown but when I return I'll ONLY be going when Zac or Mariam are there. read more

This place was 5 star before Covid, but now it is no longer the relaxing enjoyable experience it once was. There is one thing in being cautious, but they have gone completely overboard making it a horrible customer experience. Staff was rude and basically treat you as some sort of bio-hazzard they are begrudgingly serving despite the fact they took my temperature (which was completely normal) and I signed all the paperwork verifying I have not been sick and have absolutely no symptoms of Covid - not to mention I wore a mask the whole time per your requirement - which I might add really doesn't help the Zen Den experience when you can't breath and relax because of it. Oh, and the coup de gras is acting all put out when you asked me if I wanted tea and I actually accepted. If you don't want to deal with customers then just don't bother opening back up. I ended up just cancelling my membership as it is no longer enjoyable to even go. I have been to several other salons / places of business since the Covid reopening who actually know how to balance caution and treating their customers like humans. You could learn some lessons from them. read more

I am new to acupuncture and have been going now for about two months. I had found no relief for my constantly sore neck/shoulders and my range of motion had diminished. Before I saw a traditional doctor, I thought I would give acupuncture a try. It took a few sessions for me to feel real relief but it absolutely worked! I have been going once or twice weekly and have even convinced my husband (who has digestive issues) to join me. I have tried a few of the acupuncturists and Zac is our favorite! I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical prior to coming here. I went in for the complimentary session and didn't expect to love it as much as I did! It was so relaxing and not to mention, the area that I was having years of trouble with, miraculously started feeling better. So, needless to say, I signed up for another session. The night after my treatment, I slept completely straight through the night, which I haven't done in FIFTEEN MONTHS! Last week was my first acupuncture treatment in 2 decades. I went with a specific physical pain issue and this was a last resort for me. I had a total hip replacement 10 months ago and 5 months later had severe left groin pain which occurred with each step, going up or down stairs or picking something up off of floor. I had myelogram, xrays, CT scan and anesthetic injection into my groin with no relief. So finally I decided to try acupuncture. My acupuncturist was Marina. She was a good listener and understood the pain to be caused by excessive scar tissue internally. That night I realized I was almost completely pain free after 5 months of grueling, unrelenting pain. I plan to cancel my appointment with a new ortho surgeon who was going to be a second opinion. Incidentally, my blood pressure which had been somewhat high was now back in a normal range and I haven't needed to take a BP med for the last 10 days. I will continue and plan to schedule with Marina in Charlotte. The environment is peaceful and beautiful. I am a fan. read more
