HUGE CAUTION TO ANYONE CONSIDERING SERVICES FROM THIS COMPANY…read more We engaged Brickmoon and spent $10,900 with nothing to show for it. At the first meeting we provided them with our double lot layout and some pretty thorough plans on what we wanted drawn. At the second meeting, they had redesigned the plans we gave them because our plans wouldn't fit on our single lot. Yup, our 'designer' didn't know we had 2 lots - even though we discussed this in depth during the first meeting at which she was present. During our third meeting, she suggested we were changing our plans and that we would have to give them more money because we can't change the plans in the middle of the project. Change what plans? They had not given us anything except what we had provided, and they really had not made any progress because they could not come up with a solution to our study and stairwell design. At the fourth meeting, she absolutely insisted that we were changing the plans and they demanded more money from us or they would stop working on our project. The 'designer' we were assigned has a BA in Architecture that according to LinkedIn was obtained in 2012, but her first job to utilize that degree was having been hired to Brickmoon in 2021. She is not an Architect, as she has apparently not taken or passed the Architectural Registration Exam. So we were paying architect rates, but got a brand new designer. Shame on us for not asking that question before signing their contract. Shame on them for not making clear that an actual Architect would not be working on our project. If you look at the bulk of the reviews for this company, you will notice that most of the work being lauded was done in and around 2018. We requested a copy of our invoice/time sheet and noticed some peculiarities. Apparently it takes 15 minutes to send an email to schedule a meeting. And apparently, we were billed for 7 meetings when in reality we only had 4. And apparently a considerable amount of time was spent 'designing' our home - even though all we got back from them was predominantly the design we gave them. When I met with Jeremy to discuss our dissatisfaction, he was happy to tell me that his employee was great and he was backing her on everything, and that if we wanted them to continue working we would have to cut them another check for $12,500. He was so happy in fact, that he was grinning ear to ear the entire time I was letting him know I felt suckered and swindled. We opted to terminate our agreement and they did provide us a small refund. However, we wasted almost $11,000 and 6 months of our project time

I am sure the experience for a brand new home design is better, but if you are trying to remodel your home- STAY AWAY! Total waste of money, and they try to run it as if you are doing a brand new home. You pay a huge retainer, and they tell you in the initial meeting that it will take at least 6 months to finalize drawings to go to permit. Those 2 things should have been red flags for us. But being our first renovation, and not knowing any better, it cost us a lot of money. Their communication is terrible, in fact I have yet to ever hear back from them. If I had any idea that a client was upset, I would reach out and try to show and prove myself, however, I only received complete silence. Thankfully, we have a good team going now that has picked up the pieces that Brickmoon left for us. I walked away paying the entire retainer and I have just 2 conceptual hand drawn drawing options to show for it, and the outside elevations of the original house. Let our mistake be a savings to you.
