It's a shame this doesn't run throughout the year, for once there was something cool on my doorstep! They need to send more cool stuff South East. My friend and I went along on a Friday evening. Entry was £3 (free entry before 7). I'm not really sure why they charge an entry free as you are buying food from vendors anyway, so it's just like a night market, but nobody can quibble over £3. When we were first arrived it wasn't very busy, but it soon filled up. After dark there was a fun vibe and the 'fire pits' added a cool look. I sampled some beef ribs from Hot Box which were amazing, the best ribs I've tasted in London & I definitely want to track down their restaurant. My friend and I shared some 'bruvnuts' from SE Bakery that were really nice, loved the combo! We mostly got our drinks from the bar selling rum punch (forgot the name), they were a bit pricey but we found they were very strong, so you didn't need many! I can't wait for next summer to do it all over again!

I reserved an area for 40 people for the boyfriends birthday and couldn't have been happier with how the evening went. They reserved us a huge area which spanned both inside and outside the mismatch building. The first thing you notice is obviously the big red bus that you can actually dine upon. The next it's quirky greenhouse-esq. interior and then you can head out into their back garden area that has tables, a raised greenhouse area and plenty of available seating. They have a cocktail happy hour from 5 till 8 where cocktails are just £5 and they're pretty damn strong cocktails! And they also serve some fantastic street food. I opted for the wunderburger and it was god damn wunderful! Perfectly cooked juicy patty, topped with cheese, bacon and all the trimmings. Just wunderful! The only negative I have is that once they started getting busier the wait for drinks was rather extensive due to all the cocktail making so I'd just recommend a few more staff on those busy nights. Other than that I had the perfect evening and my boyfriend enjoyed his birthday immensely. Fantastic venue and another Deptford hidden gem!

This was a good event and they should have more of these events around london. I didnt stay long (about an hour and a half) as i had work the next day but i would have stayed much longer! The venue itself, Wunderlust is quite a quirky place it has a huge red bus situated at the entrance and sells german hotdogs (hence the name!) I've been on a burger quest (must remember to make a list) lately and I've got several more to try…read morethanks to Anna's thread. Mother Flipper was suggested as something approximating a US burger and since it's only 4 miles from my house I thought I'd give it a go one fine Saturday morning. Yes that's right, I had a burger for breakfast. And it was good. The boys behind Mother Flipper set up shop at Brockley Market (the logo is a broccoli floret surprise surprise) and they seem to have built a following. From the facebook page, I noted that waits can be up to an hour (the grill is fairly small so I believe it) and in order to avoid it I endeavored to be there at 10am when they opened. I got there at 10.01 and was already the 2nd in line. Go figure. The signature burger is the double bacon candy cheeseburger. What is bacon candy you say? Well you take some proper streaky bacon and caramelize in brown sugar. The meat patties are handmade and about a quarter inch thick but you get two of them so it's a hefty burger. The buns are soft and potentially brioche but it was hard to stop eating to tell. I did manage to get a couple of pictures but that's all I could wait for. The meat is tender and juicy although slightly over done for my tastes. I think maybe it was left on just a bit too long while they prepped the burger (they weren't quite set up by the time I was there and ordering). The sauce they put on was tomato based but when mixed with the sweetness of the candy bacon turned into a honey bbq type which was delicious. No complaints on the cheese although it's just basic cheddar me thinks. Be warned, take lots of paper towel as it's a messy burger. You will get it all over your hands and face without a doubt. Is it as good as the fabled burgers of Texas and the Midwest? Sadly no, but damn if it doesn't do a great job trying. I would love to see some chips being served too and a few cold drinks as the market is distinctly lacking in anything but coffee. But overall, one of the best burgers I've had in London to date. And that's saying something.

Love Mother Flipper!…read more I get it when they're at Kerb and it's one of my favourite burgers. They spend the time to make sure the ketchup and mustard are across the entire bun, and the lettuce and onions are cut small/thin enough to eat easily. The meat is a good mix, not too dense or too crumbly, and most importantly for me, not too strong. I find Patty & Bun, for example, has a gamey taste to their beef that just isn't something I enjoy. And then there's the crowning glory - candied bacon. Oh my days. I'd get a whole candied bacon sandwich if they let me. At £7 for not the biggest burger, it's a bit on the high side, but for the very occasional treat it is for me, I'm happy to pay it.

Sundays only from some time in the morning until 5pm when the market shuts down. What you will find is a little taste of Asia in the best possible way. Hand-stretched flour noodles (la-mian) made right there before your very eyes, boiled, then served in the broth and meat accompaniments of your choosing. I had one with minced pork and 'special sauce' (who doesn't like special sauce?) and it was really good. The noodles were (obviously) really fresh, the broth was decent, and the pork bits salty and flavourful. AND all for about £5 a bowl. They also have chicken, roast pork, chilli tripe, and all kinds of available versions in addtion to some wok-fried items and really tasty dim sum. The only dim sum I tried was char siew bao, and it was legit (£1.50 for two). Plus they have a plastic table-clothed table for a few people (can maybe fit about 8 or so people) and some cheap plastic stools to sit on, so it is one of the few places along the brick lane market where you can actually sit down to eat. So authentic in its practicality and function that it makes me smile. This is also a great stall because you can stare at the guy making noodles, which is a fun show in itself. He's got skills.

** IMPORTANT NOTE: I think these guys go on holidays for 3-4 months at the beginning of the year,…read moreso don't freak out like I did when I kept visiting Brick Lane every Sunday hoping to catch them! Hopefully they'll be back soon :( ** I've been extremely picky about Chinese food since arriving in London, but luckily, this little La Mian stall under the bridge at Brick Lane has got it right! Fresh hand pulled noodles (la mian), swimming in a bowl of broth with your choice of roast duck, chicken, minced pork, and a few other variations. They also serve up other small dim sum items, such as pork buns, shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork dumplings (shiu mai), spring rolls, etc. I've tried their roast chicken leg, which is very good. The broth that they use is a mixture of soy, chicken (possibly beef) bouillon stock powder, plus a few other things. I think the broth could be better, but for the quantity I get, and by London standards - there's not much else to complain about! I've also had their tan tan noodles, which came with 5 or 6 pork shu mai. The shu mai was alright, I don't think they make this, and it was in a spicy peanutty soup. I've had proper tan tan noodles before, and this kind of missed the mark. Tasty in general, yes.. but doesn't really resonate a true bowl of tan tan noodles. i think I'm just gonna stick with normal noodles in a basic broth + meat! As for seating, there's a little table with a few small stools, but good luck getting a seat unless you're on your own! There's also a huge jar of chili oil on the table too, so don't forget to drizzle some over your noodles before taking off. The cost is very reasonable, especially for the quantity that you get. I think it runs you anywhere from £5.50-£7 per bowl, and even though they don't look THAT big - don't let it deceive you, as you will literally have to roll away. In Chinatown, a crappy bowl of noodles will cost you about £6, plus their "discretionary" (translation: mandatory) service charge. However, be prepared to wait for your food! Its awesome watching the noodle man do his thang, but with everyone standing around watching, its hard to figure out where to queue, and if people are even waiting in the queue. I believe this is a 2-man show, and while I get that they are popular and I'm sure they're popping out as many orders as they can - we waited 45 minutes for 4 bowls of noodles, which is a bit ridiculous. I think if they had a 3rd person in there, it would really speed things up. In any case though, if you have a lazy Sunday, get in line :)

While the market is worth a trip in and of itself (if seemingly endless streets of awesome vintage finds and other food stalls are your thing), The Poutinerie sealed the deal for me. If you've followed along with my reviews this shouldn't surprise you, but I consider myself something of a poutine connoisseur. I wasn't super optimistic about the quality of the poutine in London, but I had no reason to be skeptical, as The Poutinerie delivered. Maybe it's just because everything is better served out of a food stall, but the dish was great. I got the regular, and the curds-to-gravy ratio was good, and the fries were fresh. No complaints here! Service was quick and friendly as well. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting, but well worth it considering just how badly I was craving poutine at the time.

I overheard as I walking past once done with the markets that this was their first day. I hope it went well for them and I hope they return. I think they have a really good product.

It's about all they're serving, but trust me, it's enough. The duck confit burgers come with your choice of 3 different cheeses, bleu cheese, raclette, or goat's cheese. Personally, I'm not the biggest cheese fan, and always go for the raclette, as it's milder. What makes the burgers even better is the truffle mayo- and if you're lucky, truffle honey- that they're putting on them, which makes the flavors pop all the more. The chips also come with a huge dollop of truffle mayo on top. One setback I would say to the whole operation is the usual lack of seating wherever these guys are to be found. If you don't have friends with you, that means you need to either only order one thing to hold it with one hand and eat with the other, or make a friend fast, to help share the load. Still, it is one of THE best burgers- duck, or otherwise- I've ever had, so I'm not complaining... too much. At £8 a pop- or £10 including the chips- it may not be the cheapest- nor the healthiest- thing you can find on the streets, but it's definitely worth every pence.

First time we went to scout out the location, it was closed because it was cold, miserable and raining (ah, the English springtime!) As soon as the weather started clearing up, I dragged my colleague (who incidentally is one of the world's biggest Nandos fans and has eaten at something like 2 dozen of its branches) back over to Brick Lane. We both had the lunch special special with the hot (I think it's 'woof woof' sauce). It is certainly hot sauce, I have a relatively high tolerance for spice but made pretty slow progress (great for clearing out the sinuses btw although between that and all the orange sauce over your face I'd recommend taking about half the kitchen roll provided). The lunch special includes 6 wings, onion rings or fries, blue cheese sauce, a few little sticks of celery and a drink. My colleague love the fries, the onion rings were standard (and by standard I mean delicious, as they are one of my favourite foodstuffs). Drink options are awesome - I had cream soda which comes in a pink can which I drank from a pink straw. I looked extremely serious and prepared for my afternoon's work arriving back in the office still drinking it. Aside from being hot, the woof woof sauce was a little sour for my tastes, I would get it again but would add some salt. I have since tried the original which is fine but not particularly exciting. I also sampled the next level up which immediately burnt a hole through my tongue down to my stomach. Colleague experienced same sensation (and he is a Nandos extra hot kind of guy). This really raises the stake on the 'roulette' option - 7 original wings plus one 'viper' - the fourth and most extreme level. Terrifying. Has to be done.
