If you ever find yourself at a loose end in Brixton, the Ritzy Cafe is the safest and best place to head. although its located in the cinematic landmark that is the Ritzy cinema, it is somewhat a hidden gem because, I assume, most people don't think to go to a cinema other than to watch films. You can however pop in here for a drink (slightly more expensive than an average cafe) with no intention of seeing a movie and they also play host to music and cultural events. It is slightly smug and middle class; there is something a bit pretentious about the atmosphere but it is nevertheless a nice enough place to have a cup of tea and or write an art house script if you are that way inclined.

The Table Cafe is a gorgeous little eatery in London's Bankside neighborhood…read more The space is welcoming, with a warm red ceiling, light wood furniture and plants hanging and growing all over to give it a very natural feel. Their fare is also very light and natural tasting. We visited at lunch and I got the Table Brunch Burger which had egg, avocado, spinach, and tomato compote. So even though it was a burger, there were a lot of fresh ingredients in it! My friend got the Table Burger and loved her chicken too. We each got different fries to try - I got the sweet potato fries and she got the normal fries (chips). Both were great but I slightly preferred the sweet potato fries since they were something different that I'm not used to. The Table serves brunch too and that menu looked fantastic. We were there more toward lunch time though, so dang. Now the only downside is that it's not the cheapest place in existence to eat, but what in London is? I would definitely recommend checking out The Table for their very nice interior vibe and the delicious food offerings!

My friend and I stumbled across this cafe en route to an event and dropped in on our way home to try it. We both had a cup of herbal tea and I had a slice of cake. Staff were really friendly and it was a nice spot to spend an hour or so. The cafe also has various items for sale including plants, crockery, candles and kids items, however I found they were priced pretty high. This is why I dropped a star on my review as I found it was on the pricier side. Tea was £2 and a slice of cake/cupcake/pastry was £3. I did enjoy my tea and cake and the cake was homemade but it was a bit of a small portion to justify the £3 price. However I appreciate the vicinity of the cafe probably warrants the price and it is in quite a touristy area with the London Eye a 5 min walk away. The cafe has been there 4 months and it makes a change to visit a local business vs a chain cafe, hopefully it is here to stick around. So give it a go! Hopefully they will become a bit more generous with the portion sizes!!

Perfect seating area with electric fireplace, light jazz instrumentals, perfectly brewed tea and coffee, and just calming atmosphere. There isn't a huge sign that shouts where this place is, so I suggest you come and enjoy it before it gets too popular! This is truly a hidden gem and relaxing place to read a book, talk to friends, or just enjoy some time to yourself.

The tagine was very authentic and tasted just like the ones I had in Morocco. The lamb was nice and tender and was cooked in the traditional clay pot. The chicken and kofta salad was pretty good as well with a generous portion size, including veggies and rice. I also got a fresh orange juice, which I saw them freshly squeeze. It was around 35 GBP for all this, which is a pretty good value. The guy running the cafe, who I presume is the owner, is a very friendly man who is helpful with answering any questions (and I think he is probably Moroccan). The service speed is pretty quick as well. The only critique about this cafe is I have to say the environment is not all that nice. Aside from the fact that there is construction going on outside, the inside feels slightly dated. However, this actually kind of adds to the local / authentic vibe, so I didn't mind too much. Overall, I think Shrigley's is a great option if you are interested in trying some authentic Moroccan food in a casual environment.

Shared one order with another person, we were both happily full. Limited seating inside, most people get takeout orders to go. Restroom located in back of restaurant.
