I have used Eva many times for shirt and pant alterations. She never disappoints. She has delivered on time with the correct results. Eva is experienced and has been in business for a long time. She is also a wonderful sweet and kind lady who is a pleasure to work with. John O read more

I dropped my bridesmaid dress off 10/25, and said the absolute latest date I need it by is 11/10. I also wrote it on the form. More than 2 weeks time to get the alterations done, which is plenty! I've called and went to the shop 11/9, 11/10, and 11/11 - no answer on the phone and the store is CLOSED! I hope she is ok - but this is extremely unfortunate as this is my best friend's wedding, I'm IN the wedding party, and my flight is tomorrow morning. And now I'm without a dress. A disaster. I called again and left ANOTHER message to NOT alter my dress if she hasn't done it yet as I will NOT be paying for it!!! I'm so upset and should've listened to my gut to not go here, and I should've looked up these reviews before going!!! read more

I am certainly not one for bad reviews.. but this was a going on issue for over a week when it was promised days before it was actually ready. The work was ok... and we were overcharged, mistaken to do part of her work for her by getting change back for her from next door, and still overcharged for the presentation that wasn't up to my boss's standard unfortunately. read more

I really wish I had seen the reviews here earlier! I followed a personal recommendation to get some very minor alterations done on a new suit. In the past I paid $80-$150 for similar services. The work is totally fine but the pricing was astronomical. I'm really upset because I should have obviously checked before, so the joke's on me. But this being an established local business that came recommended I thought it would be a pretty standard thing. Eva charged me about 4 times more - an absolute affront. She is obviously making a sport of ripping people off. Beware! I would never go back, and I will do my very best to discourage anyone from going there. What a shame. read more

I needed extensive alterations to a couple of pairs of pants. I wasn't sure how well they'd come out, but Eva seemed confident they'd be okay. She did an amazing job, the pants fit perfectly. Also, she couldn't have been more caring and pleasant to deal with. I had read the negative reviews but I believed that if she wasn't good she wouldn't have been in business for so many years. I was right, she was great! I couldn't have been more pleased. She's not cheap but neither is she outrageous. You get what you pay for and what I got was excellent! Highly recommend her. read more

You can do what you want to do if you're the only game in town and that's exactly what this woman does. She charged me $90 to take in a dress that was probably $250. She also ruined a caftan that had a drawstring issue by putting the drawstring on the inside instead of the outside. After I accidentally wore it inside out, I took it back to her and explained what she did wrong. When I went to pick it up, she told me the drawstring was never on the outside of the dress. When I showed her a picture that proved otherwise she still said the drawstring was never on the outside. She didn't want to admit she made a mistake. Or maybe she's delusional. Either way, my caftan will never be be the same. Avoid at all costs. read more

Beware! She really overcharges. we brought in two jackets to be taken in and three pairs of pants to be hemmed. My wife picked them up. A few days later I saw a charge for over $1600 on my credit card. I called her about the charge actually thinking it was a mistake. it wasn't. the only mistake was taking anything to her in the first place. She did finally agree to review the charges and to call me back. Of course I never heard back from her. Save yourself the aggravation and ridiculous charges and go to Nancy in Sag Harbor. Reasonable prices, excellent work, very pleasant. Exact opposite of this rip off place. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Eva is a dishonest and deceitful businesswoman who charged my 84 year old father $364 to slightly alter a suit that only cost $120 to begin with, and that continues to fit poorly. When approached, she became nasty, vulgar and defensive. She also incorrectly charged and later lied about an extra $14 credit card fee. It is my belief that she purposefully took advantage of an older and financially vulnerable man. Our family felt he was taken advantage of to the point where it was necessary to involve the Elder Abuse Helpline, the Better Business Bureau of Suffolk County and the Attorney General of Consumer Fraud and Financial Exploitation. Under no circumstance would I recommend doing business with Eva and Modas Eva USA. read more

I feel compelled to write a review for Eva's. I'm not an expert on tailor costs, but I imagine Eva's rent on Newtown Ln dictates her fees. More importantly her work is superb. My clothes are expensive. I don't mind paying extra if the work is done expertly. She has done a wonderful job on various types of clothes, including leather and suede. I don't mind paying extra to get work done correctly. And, in case you've forgotten, it's the Hamptons. Prices for everything are higher here. read more

When i first started using Eva years ago the work was great and the prices reasonable. Several years ago the prices went up, and there were considerable delays in getting any work done. I found another tailor, but they have now left the area. So I went back to Modas Eva, with two small jobs: you be the judge. The first was a new Zach Posen shift, sleeveless, where the armholes needed to be made a bit bigger. Not an easy job, as one had to lift the lining and cut slightly larger armholes, then restitch, but not a major one either. the other job entailed replacing five small bands of elastic string to make a gathered, fitted wrist on each sleeve of a chiffon top. Also not a big job. Total charge: $150.00! And that was after seeing that the Posen shift now had these weird burbles in the fabric through the hips and up the bust, and also had a outline of a triangle marked into the fabric below the right collar bone where there was either pulled fabric or glue residue - the dress is at the dry cleaners now seeing if it is salvageable. Never, ever again. read more

This was one of the most upsetting experiences I have ever had. I went to her shop to have a few items taken in. I gave her a deposit of $100 and came back to pick up the clothes. I tried to give her a credit card for the balance of $195 and the line was being used by her husband and my payment could not process. I personally called the card company gave them her merchant account number and they provided a authorization for the payment. Over the following weeks she called stating she did not get paid and I asked her to have the card company American Express call me. She just yelled and yelled and would not listen at all. I was not going to give her my card again until I was certain that the authorization was cancelled. She started to threaten me. Then when I called her back she would not stop yelling and talking...it was a nightmare. As good as her sewing may be...her business acumen lacks. I would never go to her again. It was far too upsetting. I want to get this handled but when you are dealing with someone who is constantly threatening you it is nearly impossible. read more
