I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

I modified a bit, but the overall ingredients are a perfect sweet and salty combo. Recommend a well done crust for an added crunch! While food earns five stars, we've encountered a few difficulties with service that have made our experiences less than ideal. We ordered fried Wisconsin Cheese Curds, and a small pizza with only cheese. The curds came pretty quickly with ranch dressing, and were very good. The rectangular pizza was cut into six squares, and had the dark browned cheesy edges as expected. It was really good! The cheese and sauce both tasted great, and edges were crunchy but did not taste burnt. Maybe the small menu is their secret to getting their food just right. If we are back in the area, we will return to Joanie's. NOTE that Joanie's was also operating a kiosk at the street festival; I don't know if this limited their menu selections at the restaurant. Service was slow, not just for us; we noticed other tables waiting for attention. The waitperson who ultimately took our order, after a longish delay, and after telling us that someone (else) would be with us shortly, was excellent. Usually pistachio flavored things taste top of tongue sweet, but this was rich, creamy, and deeply nutty. And holy cow the filling! Super generous and just gushing out! Biscoff - Again not too sweet! So good and such a fun flavor that you don't normally see. Their cookies are chewy and had a unique touch: the oatmeal raisin is dipped in espresso, though I think the raisin doesn't quite match, and the chocolate chip is made with browned butter, which gives a richness and deeper flavor that cuts the sweetness of the milk chocolate chips.

I recently visited MOD Pizza and had an excellent experience from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and energetic team that made me feel welcome. The staff was patient, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic about making sure customers had a great experience. One of the things I love most about MOD Pizza is the ability to completely customize your pizza. The selection of fresh toppings, sauces, cheeses, and crust options is impressive, and the staff carefully prepared my pizza exactly the way I wanted it. Despite having several toppings, the price remained reasonable, which makes MOD Pizza an outstanding value compared to many other pizza restaurants. The quality of the food was exceptional. The crust was perfectly baked with a nice balance of crispness and chewiness, while the toppings tasted fresh and flavorful. Every ingredient seemed high quality, and the finished pizza was cooked to perfection. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that consistently delivers both great taste and freshness. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and inviting. The dining area was well-maintained, and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable. Even during a busy period, the staff worked efficiently to keep orders moving while maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent customer service. What stood out most was the dedication of the employees. They were friendly, professional, and clearly worked well as a team. They answered questions, offered suggestions, and made sure every customer felt valued. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction greatly enhanced the overall experience. Another aspect worth mentioning is how quickly orders are prepared without sacrificing quality. The entire process--from choosing toppings to receiving a freshly baked pizza--was fast and efficient, making MOD Pizza a great option for both quick meals and relaxed dining. Overall, MOD Pizza exceeded my expectations. The combination of delicious food, fresh ingredients, excellent customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a place I will gladly return to. I highly recommend MOD Pizza to anyone looking for a customizable, high-quality pizza experience. Whether you're dining in, picking up takeout, or ordering for a group, you can expect great food and outstanding service every time. read more

I usually come in on Fridays nights, my wife and I get a mod and a mega. We absolutely love this place. But there has been a worker I haven't seen for a while. It's this dude who is tall, has long blonde hair, and wears like a hat. Not a typical baseball hat but a winter hat. I have no idea if they are trying to imitate as a girl or what not. But since I haven't seen him, it leads me to assume that this person got fired. Which I am so glad if they did. His customer service was awful. Every time I went into mod pizza I would pray he wasn't there. And if he was I would pray he wouldn't take my order. Most of the times when he takes my order he seems like he was disturbed, with every request I would make he would seem more and more disturbed. One times I asked him for pepperoni, and I saw bits of sausage in the container, he still grabbed it and put it in my pizza, and when requesting for him to remove an item I didn't ask for, he seemed super disturbed. He took of one piece of the many sausages that found their way in my pizza, and I had to ask him yet again. And not just me but I'd see hell look at customers with this stare. Like a stare if he hates us or something He'd also seem like he was in a rush. All the other workers, even the guy cooking would have a nice smile while attending customers. But this guy would never have a smile on. If he hates his job he can quit. I hope he did quit or that you guys fired him. Mod pizza is truly getting rid of the rotten apples from the apple tree.
