I ordered a pizza with mushrooms, onions, plant based sausage, and mozzarella cheese. I requested it to be cooked extra crispy. I was disappointed that they don't make chocolate shakes anymore as I thought they were tasty. When I went to get the fam's pizza, they asked if my pizza was cooked crispy enough, I said just a little more and he nailed the crispness! We've been here a few times since my last review and, for the most part, things were better. This time, however, was truly disappointing. I love MOD Pizza since they cater to those of us with food allergies. I can get a gluten-free crust and dairy-free cheese (it tastes better than it sounds...). When we arrived at a little after 6 PM on a Sunday, it was basically empty. There was one person in line in front of us. The person behind the counter was so slow it took almost 10 minutes for him to finish two pizzas. When we got to the front of the line, the serving table was a mess. There was cross-contamination in most of the trays. As he pulled a topping out, he dropped some into all of the trays around it. It just wasn't clean. We ordered two pizzas and they were ready very quickly. Unfortunately, they were not cooked enough. It was freezing in the restaurant - it was cold outside and the door sticks open a little. It is just enough for a cold draft to blow through the place. So, this was not our best experience here. I used to love this location but it seems to have gone downhill over time. This is a place that everyone gets to decide what they want on their own pizza. They have 5 or 6 sauces lots of meats to choose from too. If they don't give you enough (which is usually the case) you just tell them you need more. They tend to be a bit chintzy the first go around but improve as you get further along. They also have some sprinkle seasonings which are good to. There are a bunch of people working behind the counter and sometimes it looks like they don't know what they are doing. I also don't like seeing anyone with long hair and even tho they are wearing a cap, with their hair untied. The restaurant was quite busy and there was a lot of table left unclean. The order took more than 15 minutes, and the place got a little busy with mobile order pickups. As I was waiting, to my surprise, I saw a cooler containing beer and various other beverages. We were at a point when our pizza would come. After a long wait, we finally got our pizza and sadly they ran out of roasted red peppers which was one of our toppings. We sat on the patio to have our pizza. As soon as I opened the pizza smelled good and the presentation was just mouth-watering. The crust was a little thicker than the MOD pizza size. The pizza was served right out of the oven and the first bite was heaven. The pizza was thin, soft, and well baked. It had just the right amount of everything, and the game changer of this pizza was the pesto drizzle. It just took to the next level. We both finished the whole thing just in no time. Just one pizza was enough for both of us. It was not over-filling or under-filling. Just enough size where we were able to enjoy till the very end. Secondly, the customer service was out of this world, i was treated with the most respect i could've gotten. I was in the area and have heard many good things about the place. It wasn't very busy and it was a bunch of younger employees hanging out. The menu was easy to read and one of the employees offered to explain how the ordering worked. While I was pretty hungry, everything sounded good but I ended up ordering the Dillon James which was a typical Margherita. I know it wasn't too busy, but the pizza came out pretty darn quickly. It was a very generous for the MOD size. I do like how you can design it and add items to personalize the pizza. The 11" was about as perfect as it gets for one person who really wants to eat pizza. My fiance and I always come to this location and we always have a great experience! They associates are all super nice and the quality of the ingredients is spot on. The options seem limitless! They have a new cauliflower crust which I asked the associate his opinion and he noted that it was nice and crispy on the outside edges but got slightly chewy towards the middle. I went ahead and gave it a go and it was SO GOOD! The outside edges were perfectly browned and the middle was just like he said, chewy which was so nice. The flavors added by getting the crust also made it absolutely delicious. I am a huge fan on how quickly you are in and out. Never rushed, and the have the timing perfectly done when baking the pizzas. I really appreciate how happy and energetic the staff is here and this location and the layout is spacious and welcoming. The place sucks and I don't plan on going back. The below happened on June 30, 2021 at 12:15PM. Once it was my turn to have my pizza made, they didn't have basic ingredients like onions or mushrooms. When asked if they had any in the back, the guy behind the counter reached under the counter and pulled the ingredients out. Seems weird and lazy. Once I had paid for the pizza and the pizza was being prepared, I waited for close to 20 minutes (this is a rapid pizza place). Then they called my name and told me my pizza had fallen apart and I had to go back in line to have a new pizza made - but they weren't going to charge me for it - this was completely ridiculous. Anyway, I went back in line, and the guy asked me what type of sauce I wanted. So I told him and he started scraping the bottom of the container to get some sauce out. Need less to say there wasn't enough red sauce on the pizza, and he asked me what else I wanted on the pizza. I asked him if there's more sauce under the counter and he said no, but they had some in the back. So he heads in the back and comes out with a container. On opening it, it was sausage and not pizza sauce. So he heads back and I continued to wait. While he's in the back, another guy who manages the oven asked what I was waiting for. After almost snapping, I told him I am waiting for his guy to come out with sauce. He said ok. I waited another 3 minutes or so. Then I see the sauce guy come out and tell one of the guys they need more sauce made. And that point I had had enough since it was almost 35 minutes and I told them to forget it and just credit the transaction, so I can get my money back and head back to work. Ofcourse this gets worse. So he starts searching for my transaction to give me my money back on his system. He asks me when I paid for the pizza and how much the pizza cost. So I told him it was likely some 35 minutes ago when I first paid for it. Then he asks for last four digits of my credit card. On providing that he still can't find the transaction. Then he asks if I had kept the receipt. To which I said no, pulled out my phone and showed him the transaction. He was befuddled on what was happening and why he couldn't see it in his system. I told him typically if I give him my card perhaps he can credit the transaction directly but Ofcourse he didn't know how to do that. At that point, I told my wife to wait for these guys while I headed next door to chipotle to grab a to go burrito lunch as I was getting late for work. While at chipotle, my wife texted me and said she was waiting in the car. I assumed that the credit had been processed. Then I went to the car and Ofcourse they were unable to process the credit. But they did give us vouchers for 2 free pizzas. So I look at the vouchers and Ofcourse they expired on June 30 itself (picture below). What an awful placed. An incompetent staff with absolutely no regard for their patrons. Thanks for the expired vouchers mods and for basically screwing us out of a pizza since you never credited us back. First impression? They have the same concept as Pie Five here but I really like that they offer more topping varieties, suggested mixes, sauces and that they have THIN crust. And with unlimited toppings, I turned mine into a BBQ-California supreme (pictures). I'm a huge fan! So happy with my pizza. It was completely delicious. Like the other brands, they have a gluten-free crust option, but unlike the others, they take the time to confirm if the choice is a preference or an allergy. It's an extra two dollars for the gf crust, but it is a larger diameter than the standard 11". The price is decent for the value, starting at just under $8 a person. Considering the fresh ingredients and the ability to customize portions, this is a fair price to be in control of your own healthy creation! They also have some nice craft beers in bottles to enjoy your meal with. This place is great for a lunch break with co-workers, but may be a little on the pricey side for families on a budget. This specific MOD pizza is way bigger than the other one I have been to. I am amazed at how amazing the employees are at this particular location. Very friendly and helpful. Even though it was not my first time dining at a MOD pizza, they treat everyone as it was their first time. Which is great because I have been to some establishments where they ask if I ever been there and they will treat you somewhat different. The guys whipping up the pizzas ask if you want the red sauce or the alfredo sauce or just plain olive oil. They do not hold back if you ask for extra anything they will make it your way. They do have a board with options in case you are feeling like trying their picks, but i suggest go for what you like. Always seems to work out best. I will keep on coming back to this location, because of the way they treat everyone. Keep up the good work MOD pizza staff you guys are amazing. read more

Disorganized. My family of four ordered our pizzas. I had a mega dough so I anticipated mine taking a few minutes longer. As I picked my ingredients they didn't have mushrooms so the guy went to the back to get more. It took him a few minutes to return. Finally mine made it to the oven. My family got their pizzas and I was told to sit down and mine would be brought to the table. As my family was halfway through with their pizzas I went back up to see where mine was. The girl that was going to bring it to my table was now working on making dough and forgot to bring the pizza. They didn't know where mine was and handed me someone else's pizza. All pizzas were boxed as they had no clean dishes. I didn't realize I had the wrong pizza until I was sitting at my table. They had my pizza with some other families order. What a mess! read more

Would not recommend, staff is extremely under trained. Used to go to this place multiple times a month and now are regretting going every time. Staff puts EXTREME amounts of cheese in every pizza. On one of my pizzas it seemed like heir was 1 pound on it. Hygeine is also below average, saw a staff member stick his hands into pizza sauce to retrieve a piece of sausage on the loose and proceded to serve me that sauce with the same gloves. I was in the mood for some fast food, but didn't want the same old thing I've always had, so I decided to give MOD pizza a try, and wow was I happy I did! It is basically like a subway where you make the food as you go, and pay at the end. I was wowed that you could choose as many toppings as you would like all for the same price. The MOD sized pizza was only $9, and it was a pretty big pizza. There was a large variety of toppings and spices to choose from, so I could see coming back and experimenting more with my creation. I also was SO happy to see this restaurant sells Ace Cider, which is my favorite cider. I would definitely recommend if you have more of a sweet tooth! It was $4, so I paid around $13 total for a full meal. I will definitely be returning to MOD pizza, it is a great concept, and so fast- a hot pizza in 10-15 minutes! read more

I ordered a small pizza on the MOD app an hour prior to my arrival, I arrived 15 minutes after the expected done time for curbside pick up. I called the number to inform them that I arrived like their sign instructed but when I called someone answered then hung up on me. I went in because I had a meeting to attend. I go in and one of the guys says they're still working on it. I said wait a minute this was ordered ahead of time you should have gotten it done! I told them I wanted to cancel the order, which they did but I have yet to see my refund. I ordered from this place before without problem, what happened?? Are you short staffed?!? Unorganized?!? I didn't get my order and made late to my meeting. BTW, where's my refund? I don't like paying places that inconvenienced me. If I don't get my refund back then you have lost a customer. read more

This is my favorite quick service pizza place, but I won't be going to the Kildeer/ Deer Park location again. Last week during a visit- my 4 year old son wanted to "create his own pizza" and was rudely cut off multiple times by the young man behind the counter when he was asking for his ingredients and trying to decide. The man ignored my son and then skipped my wife's order because he clearly felt we were taking too long. I get it- not everyone wants to deal with a 4 year old- but my son (and I assume many kids) get excited for this type of thing. It comes with the gig, buddy. To make it worse, we stood at the register for literally 5 full minutes and waiting to pay. There were 5 other workers standing around talking to one another, but none of them seemed to want to help. Beyond our pizzas, we also ordered a garlic cheesy bread. When it came out of the oven (slightly burnt), I requested the marinara sauce (for the second time) and the guy literally reached down to the refrigerator- and threw it to me, skipping it off the counter. Thankfully i caught it, but it was very rude. There was 1 person in line behind us, and only about three people in the whole restaurant at 6PM. Maybe there would be more business if your employees learned to appreciate all of your customers, young and old. If you have to go to MOD, head to a different location. read more

Of the build-it-yourself pizza places we've tried so far, I think this one is my favorite. I like Blaze too, but I found the crispy, thin crust was quite nice, and the final product not as greasy as the Blaze product. It's currently $7.87 here for an 11" pizza, and I particularly liked their "Crosby", as well as their Hawaiian. I learned form a recent Yelp event here that they also have a nice philanthropist company culture, and their culture also shows in their friendly staff and service. These folks apparently started the build-it-yourself pizza model way back in 2008 from Seattle, so give 'em a try, as they are relatively new to Chicagoland (about 1.5 years). read more
