Dr. Melanie Ortleb is the most amazing gentle and kind person, which makes her career as a dermatologist perfect for her. She is board certified and graduated top of her class at UNMC. If you're looking for a smart, compassionate doctor, look no further. I have loved my visits here and feel so comfortable sharing my derm issues. MOD dermatology recently opened a new office space across from Legacy shopping center off 168th and it is prime location for a doctor's office. It is very convenient for parking and accessibility. She is currently the solo doctor at this location. She has helped me with a couple of skin afflictions that I have had in the last few years- she is super professional and knowledgeable. Would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a great dermatologist.

I really like MOD Dermatology, from the clean waiting room to the exam rooms. The front desk staff are courteous, efficient, and friendly. The nurses who take down your health background, view your skin, and prep for Dr. Ortleb are also very friendly, informative, and provide helpful information about your skin ailment. Dr. Ortleb is extremely warm, provides additional information, and treats the issue quickly and with precise decision making. She also talks about choices that involve saving the patient additional costs that many practitioners would not do. This dermatology practice is one of the best in Omaha in my opinion.

Business card for MOD Dermatology for Melanie Ortleb

Melanie Ortleb is by far my favorite skincare expert I've ever seen. I'm currently 31 and have been suffering from cystic acne since my mid 20s. She was kind and explained possible causes and treatments and their side effects and made sure to consider my input. She recommended chemical peels and after 2 so far, I've already noticed a significant difference even though you normally need more sessions. She's also really knowledgeable about skincare and is who I plan on going to in the future.

Mod dermatology and Dr Ortlib gave me lips !! for the first time in my life my lips are more than just a line across my face -thank you

I'm shocked at some of the reviews I've read here!…read more I had a consultation with Dr. Schlessinger today and was beyond pleasantly surprised! I just moved to Omaha and one of the hardest things for me was leaving behind my network of doctors, personal care, and estheticians with whom I established relationships and trust. I had such mixed feelings about this appointment because of the reviews, so I thought I'd schedule a free consultation knowing I was in control and was not obligated to have treatments here if I wasn't comfortable. Dr. Schlessinger was extremely warm and engaging. He quickly quelled my reservations and concerns, and he listened to what I wanted to achieve. He completely explained procedures, outcomes, and was extremely reassuring. I would not hesitate to recommend him for dermatological or esthetic consultation or treatment! He is wonderful! I must add, I found his staff to be extremely professional, polite, and knowledgeable.

From other reviews, and my experience I can tell you the one thing in common with unhappy clients -…read morethe money gouging. As many others who have written reviews, I too felt I was taken advantage of at this practice. After being told I paid in full I received a near $700.00 bill. Flabbergasted, I called and talked to Wendy who then took no accountability and blamed my insurance for the "miscommunication". After waiting weeks to hear back from Wendy about reducing my bill, I finally reached out again to hear the same answer back about it being my insurance's fault. Hours of phone calls and emails and I can tell you, it was indeed not my insurance's fault - the practice completely misquoted me. Sadly, I would not recommend. Paying an out of pocket cost I was not informed of tells me that this practice focuses on the dollars in their pocket rather than the care their patients receive. The lack of transparency about payments is unethical and they need to change how they quote immediately. As someone who herself has compiled quotes in a medical office, there is no excuse for this. This is the simplest form of bait and switch ploy. To back this 1 star review up even more - my whole experience was anything but smooth. I had three moles removed the same day. It felt rushed and pressured. I didn't even know I was getting them removed that day until billing came in. One mole was on my foot. They did not stitch and wrap it properly and I ended up bleeding through my shoe in Walgreens picking up my prescription. This then led me to passing out in Walgreens. Yes. So fun. I called the Dr. to say I didn't think the bleeding was normal. They had me come back and offered to add more stitches to the toe RAW! No numbing! I declined saying that sounds painful and preferred it to be wrapped instead. The healing process was anything but pleasant but the stitch removal was one of the most painful experiences of my life. The type of pain you grimace just thinking about for days and weeks later. Honestly, the pain from the suture removal comes second under kidney stones for me. I didn't expect this experience to be pleasant but I certainly didn't expect it to be this traumatic. So no, I do not recommend.

Aside from the helpful admin experiences, I've always had great dermatology care. Joyce is wonderful!! She somehow remembers details of my life even though I'm only one patient out of so many she sees just once a year. I recommend her to anyone looking for dermatology, however Greg Morrison is also a great option for a provider here. I mostly do yearly skin checks but have also had procedures done (mole removals) and allergy testing. The allergy testing was thorough and Joyce set me up with the CAMP app which helps me determine products that are safe for me to use for my allergens. The copay for my insurance is $40 which seems appropriate but each insurance will vary as to price and coverage.

The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars instead of 5 is because they sent me to collections the day before my last appointment, which I had no idea I even had a bill due, but would've been happy to pay that next day on my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment they asked for more info than usual and said they have a new system. They didn't say anything about a bill due, which if they have in the past it completely slipped my mind because my appointments have been months and months apart. I've had many different bills in the past few years, it's hard to keep track of which ones the insurance takes care of and which ones require a little more. When I called billing they were very defensive and seemingly had no customer service skills whatsoever and left me never wanting to return to Midwest Dermatology again, which sucks because I never really had a bad experience so far. Granted I should've updated my address, but because I am a student and still under my mothers healthcare plan, I was pretty sure they were all going straight to my mothers address. I even told the lady in billing I'd be more than happy to pay and not arguing whether I owe or not, but that it just seems really messed up that I got sent to collections one day before my next appointment. She couldn't even apologize for the inconvenience or for the system being new to have caused extra confusion. To me that's all this is, is an inconvenience because at the time of my appointment I was doing well financially and now a debt collector is calling me right before Christmas. My appointment was only 5 months ago?! like what?! I asked to speak to a supervisor and got sent to a voicemail. Maybe the supervisor will call back and change my mind. If I could rate the billing department on its own I would give them 1 star for interrupting a customer, lack of understanding, and just poor customer service. Plus wouldn't it make more sense to just have better customer service especially if I was offering to pay Midwest Dermatology directly? That would save them from having to pay debt collectors a 30-50% cut. I still can't believe the way their billing department was talking to me, the polar opposite of my experiences so far. Just wow... I asked billings when they called me and was told they called in July, but that I didn't have a voicemail setup, they sent me to collections late August without ever trying to call again. They could've done a little more in my opinion. Which is all I was trying to tell the lady, but all she could do is argue back and force while I tried to get her to understand why it seems messed up to me. Update: the billing supervisor never returned my call, I paid collections who were surprisingly friendly and had better customer service skills than this billing department. Best collections agency ever lol If it wasn't for billing being so rude, I would give this location, it's staff, and Dr. Darling 5 stars she's been amazing! I would gladly recommend them all to everyone for being so friendly, and professional, but I will let everyone I tell know to watch out for billing issues. It's unfortunate that their billing department is like that because other than that I have been thoroughly impressed!
