The IRS, DMV, Dentist, Doctor, or job interview, a tax appointment is no different!!! Their office is quite small, & appointments are closely scheduled back to back being TAX SEASON! Cliff & his staff need to be able to concentrate on their client's taxes as they file them, without mistakes & attention to detail. It is not the business's responsibility to expect staff there, to act like a makeshift daycare!!! As any of these disgruntled parents might be reading this, you are already aware, filing taxes can take some time, & by bringing small children to a tax appointment, you purposely delay other appointments that people have that are waiting, simply because you can't or don't want to hire a babysitter! It is not like you haven't experienced challenges with childcare before. Of course, unforeseen circumstances can arise requiring the tax preparer to extend timeframes for completing their work. However, quality tax professionals recognize the importance of communication with their clients when timeline extensions are needed and use this skill to keep their clients informed and up to date. Unfortunately, Stephanie Ware with Arete Financial And Legal Solutions falls short in this relevant skill. Although she has received multiple positive reviews, she has also received multiple reviews showing a pattern of neglect and contempt for her clients. She repeatedly states she will perform tasks and provide phone calls or email replies within a specified timeframe without doing so. In 2025, she scheduled multiple appointments with me and never had the decency (at the very least) to have someone from her office call and reschedule when she determined she could not keep the appointment. I even sat down with Ted Ashton (one of the owners of Arete Financial And Legal Solutions) and showed him a packet of emails between Stephanie and myself documenting her lack of ability in handling (in a professional manner) my tax preparation. When he stated, "you're not wrong"... and then proceeded to read the multiple reviews I shared showing her inability to satisfy multiple client's tax preparation needs, an apology was all he was able to offer. He stated our discussion would hopefully help to improve the outcome of his business by improving deficiencies that currently exist. Stephanie Ware is a "hit or miss" tax preparer. She has years of experience that comes with a chip on her shoulder. I am writing this review to help expose the public to "real time" factual experiences. I have reported it to Yelp and will now be including it in our lawsuit as it is retaliatory, misleading, damaging, false as he was never our client and defamation/slander. Further defining his horrible tactics and bullying measures and lack of accountability! We hired and paid Jeremy to file an extension, prepare, and submit our taxes by the deadline. We finalized everything on time, paid our Arizona taxes in full on 10/15 as directed, and even tipped him -- trusting the job was done. Weeks later, we got hit with over $1,000 in IRS penalties, and Arizona fined us too. After calling the IRS, we learned our return wasn't filed until well after the deadline -- with zero notice. When confronted, he deflected, blamed unrelated things, and only admitted the truth after we pushed -- still without taking responsibility. It felt like he exploited our trust and tried to spin the situation to avoid owning his failure. This wasn't just a mistake. It was a complete disregard for responsibility and professionalism. Anyone who lies by omission and shifts blame shouldn't be handling anyone's taxes. We absolutely do not recommend him. Trust is everything, and he lost ours completely.
