It was worth it, driving through the countryside wondering where on earth we were heading and then amongst a bunch of shops and another cafe right across the street, sits Kaos. The walls are lined with old vinyl covers, everything from Dusty Springfield to David Bowie; great to ohhh! (affectionally) over, and ahhhh! (not so affectionally) over. Out the back is an array of old couches that host movie nights, if you look up you will see an array of brightly coloured circles enticing one to ponder if they have time warped into a 60's electric-kool-aid-acid-trip. Wonderful eclectic array of furnishings too. My classic bene eggs with salmon was ample in size and tasted delicious, hubby's poached egg on top of mince was pretty praise worthy too. Coffee was good, but would have been that little bit better if slightly stronger. Lots of space, despite the popularity; you can sit inside, outside, or even at an old ironing board table bench if you do so wish. This place was put together by someone who obviously love's what they do, it is full of personality and creativity, and is a great way to attract locals and tourists alike - well done!

Well, I must say that it certainly is up there with the best of them. A nice biscuit base, with REAL banana slices in caramel, and a generous topping of cream. They also have a little play area to keep the children occupied while you drink and eat in peace. The staff were nice and friendly too. Well worth checking out whilst recovering from all that shopping we love to do at this time of the year...........

I chose the the Mushroom Medley, and my wife had the daily special of Bubble & Squeak. Nice upsell by the waitress in tempting my wife to have some bacon on hers. The coffee's were nice without the sometimes bitter after taste. The place is a prime location for letting the children have fun on the playground equipment in the square. We enjoyed our visit and would be coming back another day.

I've always been a huge fan of the specialty slices and gorgeous cakes here. Decadence only begins to describe the quality of their sweet treats. I've also brunched on their more substantial meals and found them to also be of a very fine quality. They also make gourmet pies, worthy of the price tag accorded in their display case. Their coffee and smoothies are also very good. There are large tables available in the foyer of the Pukekohe Library, which is where Alyssum Cafe adjoins to and share a common area. This makes it ideal for business meetings and also group bookings. The area in the foyer is large and cavernous which doesn't amplify or echo sound as smaller wooden floored Cafes do. Prices are a bit more than your average cafe, but if you're after quality, then this is the place to go. The staff are friendly and highly proficient at what they do. They are genuine in their customer service. Definitely a place to go for that lazy weekend brunch or for a business meeting.

They are from Cambodia and were really friendly -as in introduced themselves and were willing to please . I can see they have shuzzed up the place as with the old owners didn't do so much , there were new flowers on tables and some peace Lilys hanging on the wall . I'm definitely coming back to sample the menu .
