It was a rainy and freezing day so I was happy to find it inside a warm building opposite the doors of the Puke library. It's definitely popular, as it is also kid friendly with heaps of room for high chairs and prams and you can tell it has the 'regular coffee spot' vibe. My coffee was HUGE and delicious. We had fresh cheese scones with were flavoursome (cheese scones are usually pretty freakin bland, let's be honest). We also had a counter slice which was a 'health slice' full of apricot and all sorts of other grains and healthy muesli stuff. So good. Also the staff were relaxed and friendly and attentive to tables Cool spot for a catch up as you can double it up with a library visit. Books and coffee for the win!

Well, I must say that it certainly is up there with the best of them. A nice biscuit base, with REAL banana slices in caramel, and a generous topping of cream. They also have a little play area to keep the children occupied while you drink and eat in peace. The staff were nice and friendly too. Well worth checking out whilst recovering from all that shopping we love to do at this time of the year...........

The coffee's were nice without the sometimes bitter after taste. The place is a prime location for letting the children have fun on the playground equipment in the square. I've always been a huge fan of the specialty slices and gorgeous cakes here. Decadence only begins to describe the quality of their sweet treats. I've also brunched on their more substantial meals and found them to also be of a very fine quality. They also make gourmet pies, worthy of the price tag accorded in their display case. Their coffee and smoothies are also very good. There are large tables available in the foyer of the Pukekohe Library, which is where Alyssum Cafe adjoins to and share a common area. This makes it ideal for business meetings and also group bookings. The area in the foyer is large and cavernous which doesn't amplify or echo sound as smaller wooden floored Cafes do. Prices are a bit more than your average cafe, but if you're after quality, then this is the place to go. The staff are friendly and highly proficient at what they do. They are genuine in their customer service. Definitely a place to go for that lazy weekend brunch or for a business meeting.
