We had purchased his Kangaroo Joey Pump from Melekare. We knew Melekare was an independent store and wanted to support local instead of a big chain store. When the healthcare nurse showed up to get him hooked up she soon realized that the factory settings were what we ended up finding out in Portuguese. The healthcare nurse wasn't familiar enough with the machine to know what buttons to push to get into the settings to change the language. I was able to get a hold of Kari, after hours to help us. She started by telling us to take a deep breath and then walking us through what to do. She was familiar with the machine that from her home she was able to tell us from memory what buttons to push. After getting the machine set to English she walked us through how to set the amount of formula and how to install the tube into the pump and then hooking the tube up to my dad. Since then we've entrusted Melekare for all our medical needs from supplies, accessibility devices, etc. when Kari has delivered equipment, she just doesn't drop it off and leave. She came in and made sure the equipment was set to the right height and that my dad was comfortable with everything. She even put the tension socks on to make sure they fit correctly and weren't too tight. I would highly recommend Melekare for any of your medical needs. They are very compassionate and knowledgeable. They made us feel like our concerns mattered and that we were not just another number.

My latest thing was replacing the rear wheels on a manual chair that I received from the Consistory Club. Rae came out once with wheels they expected would fit, but my chair had other plans and he came out a second time with wheels they had to special order. Then the tools that he expected would work didn't so he called the shop and Ernie brought more out which worked. They are both super nice, professional and efficient. The OT specialist has to assess the person using the chair that we intend to buy, before government subsidy is approved. And OT are backed up several months. As a result, loaner chairs are also in extremely low supply. Mary at Dura Med had none, could find none, and worked far into the night calling in favours to work a miracle.
