Yikes. They do offer a military discount tho, so that made it a little more palatable.

We called one shop in Las Vegas and were given a ridiculous quote for the converter. Passion Auto was our next choice and the quotes for the various services were spot on with what my research showed they should be. They also identified an issue the first shop missed, a shredded serpentine belt. Passion Auto was very understanding of our situation and did good work at a fair price. I highly recommend them.

They're not in this business just to prey on issues that "pop up" when you take your car in for something unrelated. If there is a mistake on their end (because let's admit it, we are human, mistakes can and very well could happen!) they will go out of their way to fix their mistake, own up to it, and do what they can to be open and honest with their customer about the situations. I recently took in an Audi A3 (if you know anything about German automotives, you know how much time and work they take for the simplest things and not all mechanics have the capability or tools to work on them) and when they found out it had an issue that was - in reality - not a very fixable one, they really talked me through the issue and what their opinion on what the best direction to take was. It wasn't the option that made them money. It was the option that helped me in the long run. I did end up having to purchase a new car, but you know that they'll be the first ones I take my new one to for anything and everything! I cannot thank them enough for the kindness they showed me in that time of frustration and the fact that they didn't try to upsell me on anything is such a breath of fresh air in a business where value doesn't always matter as long as money pools in their pockets. I was greeted with smiles and everybody was very very friendly, and I was in and out in ten minutes (!), but.... The tech's hands were filthy dirty. He left hands prints all over the car, and worse, all over the steering wheel (so then it was on MY hands). Cmon man.... Also, $30 to patch a tire seems excessive? Things cost a lot more than they used to so I'm not sure.
