I visited Hendricks Live to see a children's play. I should say, the venue is officially called Hendricks Live! With an exclamation mark. As a rule, my fingers will not let me type any word or phrase containing extraneous punctuation. So, henceforth, I will be writing Hendricks Live without an exclamation. I really like that they let you eat inside the theatre. I mean, I didn't eat in there, but I like that they give you the option. They have a concession stand with things like frosted cookies, popcorn, candy, wine, beer and soft drinks. The seats have cup holders. The theatre seems relatively new and well-taken-care-of. The seats were comfy, and even though my son, who is on the shorter side, sat in back of two adults, he could still see the stage. The people who scanned our digital tickets and showed us to our seats were very friendly. The whole experience was pleasant, and we had a nice time at the theatre.

Everyone was dressed up and excited for the show. Many of the little girls in attendance appeared to be wearing their Easter dresses. It was really fun to see. The door attendants that were checking our tickets were eager to help and pointed out the entrance doors and restrooms upon our arrival. Concessions were open and running smoothly. The gentleman that assisted us was kind, upbeat and helpful. When I asked about their cider offerings, he happily bounced over to the fridge and grabbed the two that they had and gave me his personal recommendation. My husband asked about the butteriness (a word I made up, apparently) of the popcorn, and he was honest with his feedback. In addition to the cider and popcorn, they also had a nice selection of beer, wine and spirits as well as candy. The volunteers were stationed outside of the theater entrances until 6pm, when the doors opened. One of the gentlemen had his picture up in the lobby as "Volunteer of the Year". I felt honored to be in his presence! There isn't a bad seat in the entire theater. If you attend a show here, I wouldn't worry too much about where you sit. The volunteers were actively walking around and offering booster seats to the children. I thought that was pretty awesome. The show itself was very community theater-esque. It was cute and whimsical and made for a fun night out, but the set design and story delivery were very amateur. For what we paid, it was a decent value. I will read more closely when booking in the future. Reading is fundamental folks, and the listing on Fever stated that the show consisted of 6 local dancers. There just wasn't enough going on to maintain my interest, but that is definitely a personal issue. My husband really enjoyed the show and athleticism displayed by the dancers. Maleficent was my favorite dancer. Her moves were, quite literally, on point!

They played a good mix of classic and modern music that we all appreciated, and it felt like they tailored their set lists to our group incredibly well. I also have nothing but good things to say about working with them in getting the gigs scheduled. They have always been quick to respond, easy to work with, and inspired plenty of confidence leading up to a show. Highly recommend these guys - they rock!

Their mix of classic rock anthems (and a couple Halloween-themed surprises for the crowd) had everyone dancing and singing along ALL NIGHT LONG! The vocals were powerful, the guitar work was insane, and the rhythm section kept things tight and driving all night. These guys know how to command a room and deliver an engaging performance! Beyond their incredible talent and stage presence, what really stood out was their professionalism. The band showed up early, fully prepared, and worked seamlessly with the event organizers. Setup, soundcheck, and coordination were smooth as could be--they're clearly seasoned pros who know how to handle a big event. For the level of talent and performance they delivered, Roughouse is more than fairly priced. They brought the atmosphere, the energy, and a concert-quality sound! Worth every single penny--and then some. It wasn't just a show--it was a full-blown experience. The themed outfits, the stage presence, the seamless crowd interaction--it all added up to be one of the most memorable and fun Irvington Halloween Balls. If you want a band for a wedding, a corporate event, a Halloween Festival , or anything in between. Look no further!!!! RougHouse brings top-tier musicianship, a professional and hassle-free experience, with tons of fun and energy....5 stars! No question!

    Royal Theater

    Royal Theater

Danville's Royal Theater is exactly what you'd expect as a historic, single-screen theater nestled…read moreintimately directly on Danville, Indiana's town square. With ticket prices well under usual chain prices, including first-run such as the current Lilo & Stitch, Royal Theater offers moviegoers a classic movie experience with the benefit of also being able to book both classics, first-run, and a family film series. Royal Theater was first built in 1914 and was Danville's first movie theater. It was bought in 1926 by Thomas Barrett. Barrett razed two buildings to the side of the theater and expanded the "photoplay parlor" in a Tudor Revival style. Barrett himself was from England and this definitely made sense. It re-opened in 1927 with a 600-seat capacity. It also had a pipe organ, lighted marquee, and stage. The Royal today maintains its 1920s appearance. It's a theater that really leans into its nostalgia and I personally smile every time I pass by it. The Royal hosts a free family film festival during the Summer. It's on Wednesdays at 10am. This year's schedule includes: June 4th ~ Kung Fu Panda 4 June 11th ~ IF June 18th The Garfield Movie June 25th ~ Despicable Me 4 July 2nd ~ Harold and The Purple Crayon July 9th ~ The Wild Robot July 16th ~ Hitpig July 23rd ~ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Is accessibility perfect here? Of course not. This is a historic movie theater, though I've found it better than expected. While some buildings on the town square are definitely not accessible (my guess is 1/2 the stores on Danville's town square have a step into them), several key ones are including the Royal. This is still a single-screen theater. Tickets and concessions are affordable. The theater can be rented (my understanding is the owner is pretty selective, though I've not experienced this side of the theater). While Avon has chain moviegoing experiences, and they're fine, for true cineastes this is practically a must-attend theater. They typically do an evening screening (definitely not an all-day theater). They do occasionally host concerts and events, as well. I should also note that parking around the square is free with a two-hour time limit (five hours for disabled placard parking spots). If you go to the Royal, dial down the expectations and have fun. These are friendly people with a good (not great) screen and a casual approach that is perfect for this small town indie theater. The theater itself is attractive, well-kept, and prices are great. This may not be quite a destination spot, however, Danville is for sure worth a daytrip. The Mayberry Cafe (think Andy Griffith Show-themed) is within walking distance, Danville Dips is around the corner, the Authors' Patch Bookstore is also around the corner, and this small town's charm is abundant.

The people are friendly and efficient and it's just a nice place to go watch a show. It's a great…read moreplace to take family without having to go far and spend a lot of money.
