This review is over a year overdue, but life doesn't always run on schedule, right?…read more Charlie is one of those rare people who genuinely cares more about helping others than making a quick dollar. He reminded me of the kind of neighborhood dad who looks out for everyone, and from the moment I met him, I felt like I was in good hands. I originally went to him because my car kept failing its smog check. Instead of simply taking my money, Charlie explained that I needed to complete a proper drive cycle and encouraged me to come back so he could check it again. In fact, he checked my smog twice without charging me a penny. When I still didn't pass the second check with him, he didn't just send me on my way. He suggested I buy catalytic converter cleaner from a nearby auto parts store to improve my chances the next time, since my catalytic converter was the reason I kept failing. The first place I went never mentioned that. Charlie also told me to drive it a little longer and come back the next day, and he was true to his word. He was there exactly when he said he'd be and checked it again at no charge. The reason I stopped at Charlie's station in the first place was because I overheard two women at a grocery store talking about how wonderful he was. After my own experience, I completely understood why. It's becoming increasingly rare to find someone in this industry who is this honest, patient, dependable, and genuinely invested in helping people. Charlie earned my trust without ever asking for it. In a world where it's easy to become skeptical, people like him are a breath of fresh air. I only wish there were more Charlies around. Every person in this industry could take a page from Charlie's book and prioritize honesty and integrity.

5 Stars for having the lowest price per gallon of gasoline as of today 2.89 gal for cash ,10 cents…read moremore for debit or charge. The American Gasoline Station of yore used to be a place where you could get your windows cleaned, your gas pumped for you. you could chat with the owner and gas pumping dudes about all manner of subjects. you could buy a coke or pepsi out of a super chilled water refrigerator. they often had local tv stations shooting a live show featuring one kind of contest or another. as in la high school car washing to make money for a senior class trip. In other words: a gas station was a contributor and participant in the neighborhood. This is a time gone by but a time for which i do have a pang of remembrance and longing. "The good Old days" as my nephews say and only because i have reminded them about that phrase. They are GEN-Z, younger than the dreaded Millennials though my oldest nephew is 8 and therefore a Millennial. In any event this United Oil station is the cheapest in Glendale. Service-wise: non-existent. The dude at the window into which you shove your money does not possess any sort of service savvy than say the Nordstrom sales crew possesses. HA! He grunts, he swigs on a soft drink, chomps on a service station tuna sammy: generally he is in his own world. a world not comprehensible to anyone in this world. Those of us who were in a short line today to pay cash for gas had to wind around chips and old sammy refers and big refers of beer and sodas: so close to each other that it gave me the willies. All for the cheap per gallon cost of the petrol. One good thing about living in Glendale is that the city officials have assigned a dollar penalty to those who do not wear masks in a public place: 400. 1000, 1,000,000 for first, second and third offense. So when you are in a line standing close to the person either in front or behind you and this person is not wearing a mask...you have recourse here. i like it! One woman, who parked at a pump after i did decided she was special and therefore did not have to wait in line because she had a beat up Mercedes and because she was who she was: no one. we all made her go to the back of the line which made me feel good. yes, but also stupid and petty and thinking back this would not have been an issue years ago at the chevron across the street from where i grew up in LA. In regards to lines and waiting in them: Chivalry is dead! This is how it is now, 2020. Stay safe, Stay cool. cheers!

When I mentioned that the price seemed high compared to my past experiences, the woman working the front desk responded by raising her voice at me rather than explaining the breakdown. He pumped gas in his personal car first, finished pumping, looked back at us (we were waiting for pump 7) and then walked away and started serving customers. So my husband walked up and asked "#7 broken?" And he didn't say anything but just get upset, and walked all huffy and puffy and angrily walked to his car, started it and drove fast and peeled out to move and park behind the pumps, opened his door, slams door and walks back to his post angry AF. My husband then moved his car up and walked up to pay for the gas. He even apologized to him and said "sorry about that, you seem upset" and they attendant just ignored him and kept on being pissy with his pissed off self. RUDE AF!! Don't block the pumps and park your car there, and if a customer comes to you, dammit, you're in customer service so be nice and cordial, very unprofessional! We didn't appreciate his attitude! He really could've hurt someone driving as fast as he did in that small lot. Angry or not, you're at work, so act like you want to keep your job. SMDH
