I do not recommend stopping for gas here. This place is sketchy. Honestly I would rather get gas and not be bothered with homeless people. I tried to give a homeless person chips and he threw them on the floor after he followed me into the store and specifically told me he was hungry. My issue is not with homeless people but my issue is with the aggressive behavior of untreated mental illness. Something needs to be done about the homeless crisis sooner than later. read more

Clean, well-lit at night... But dang, if the prices aren't high!! Guess those prices are influenced by the fact that it IS smack dab in the middle of downtown... Rape Alley. Not literally, but you WILL be harrassed even if you want it or not while you're getting gas. You'll get it...and you'll get it hard. This is pretty common at gas stations in the city when pan handlers and beggers stand around and hassle innocent unexpectant mothers for money as they are getting gas. A lot of times they make up these elaborate stories like how they're friends with Benjamin Franklin and their deloreon's flux capacitor needs 1.21 gigawatts to run and they just need 67 more cents to buy the wattage. read more

What a rip off. When you live in DTLA and are in deperate need for gas, this is probably one of the only places to get it! With that being said, they feel the need to mark up the prices WAYYYY more than other places. Everyone thought I was crazy moving Downtown from the South Bay just so I didn't have to drive to Staples to go to games but I love it here. One thing that I am getting use to is not having as many resources like no Trader Joes or Whole Foods BUT...I have a gas station near me and there really is not that many in Downtown and their prices are not higher than anywhere else. They have a mini mart here too which I would never use in the South Bay but I can walk here safely at night so it is now a place to go for a paper or something to drink (there is no alcohol here). I usually come here for the Sunday paper because the Starbucks I go to sells out early. This station also has a Subway sandwich shop inside. Again...I would never consider going to a gas station but I just want a quick sandwich and there are some great sandwiches nearby but many don't open until evening, or they charge $15 or it is a sit down restaurant and it takes a while. read more

I'm permanently boycotting this station. The owners don't give a damn about the aggressive beggars harassing customers at the pumps. This station doesn't have the cheapest gas either. Unfortunately - they are the only station in the heart of South Park. Which explains the gouging and apathy by the owners. I usually fill up at the Chevron on Fig & Washington. But you can find stations further down Olympic past the 110. Stories here to share: One miscreant complained that Asian people were so cheap and never give any money. I responded with my own hypothetical racial generalization - and he actually apologized but grossly insisted on shaking hands. The latest incident was a loud mouthed pushy type. He insisted on washing the car windows and started to do a play-by-play of how I was jump starting a car incorrectly. Bottom line when you're reviewing a gas station is 'How competitive are their gas prices?' That said, if you ever accidentally drive up to these pumps, then slam the car in reverse, floor it and get the hell outta there...unless of course you are the only person on the planet who prefers to get gouged. I live blocks from this place and the prices for regular gas here are normally 50 cents (and MORE) above the area's price. And that's on a regular basis, I know because I pass this corner at least 5-6 times per week. I have a 16 gallon tank so filling up costs about $8 more per tank...get the picture now? That $8 can buy the draft beer of the night, an order of spring rolls and a pizza bread at Public School 612's happy hour a few blocks away....a much better use of those funds...but that's another review and topic... read more

It's the only patch of grass on the block. Owner pulled up in his Cadillac and gave me hell when he saw my dogs sniffing around on his grass. I offered to help pay to maintain the grass on behalf of the many dog owners in the area who really need it; I thought he might like to contribute to the community he does business in *on my dime*. It all comes down to one thing at these types of places: quality of the gas. And when it comes to quality, this Shell Station on Grand and Olympic does not disappoint!!! Yes it is a little on the expensive side but I am willing to sacrifice for gas that is this high quality. Typically I am a fan of entering my zip code instead of PIN number but at this station it does not bother me at all. The Mobil and Shell gas stations in Hollywood were $3.69 for the premium and $3.49 for the low grade the same day whereas this one was $3.99 for the low grade and $4.19 for the premium. This gas station is convenient because it is in downtown. My bf always waits until his red gas light flashes turns on and it happens to be in downtown so we go to this station. The gas is not cheap here, but if you are desperate for gas it works. Expect for a random person to walk by asking for money. it happens almost every time we pull up. Mom injured herself here. Manager refused to help and knew the pump we were using wasn't working then refused to give us his name. Only reason I'd come back is with a lawsuit which we are thinking about since due to the faulty pump gas ended up splashing in the car so we all almost ended up in the hospital for being poisoned by fumes. read more

Last night I pulled over to get gas for my car and another car parked not too far from the pump where I was getting gas from, and an old guy start washing the window of the other car ; then another homeless person starts screaming.. this is too scary to be getting gas at night .. but its only 8 PM! when I realized the other homeless person is approaching my car, I decided to make my gas purchase short - $20.03 and the receipt was not even available, so I cancelled the receipt and made sure that the transaction was completed. I always reconcile my credit card purchases at the end of the day and when I saw my credit card purchase from this gas station, they posted a whooping $125.00 on my account! I notified my bank for this fraudulent charge! I called the gas station and told me that I should speak to the manager... which I am afraid that they will just give me lip service and can't do anything about it! Watch out...
