I put the nozzle back on the pump, and returned into my car. While in the car, I sat for a few minutes on the phone. During that time, the nozzle fell off the holder, smashed off the concrete, then smashed my vehicle. After looking at the holder for the nozzle, I realized there was a crack in the fixture. After bringing this to the claims team, it took a month before they requested I send two estimates which I completed last week. They dodged my calls and follow up emails all week. Finally this morning after following up again, I was able to get through and they NON VERBALLY sent letter documentation which ultimately denys my claim. To make it worse, now in order to receive the security camera footage of my incident, they require I have a subpoena. I wanted to make this public because I am the one to typically come on here and rave about my consumer experience. I also, depending on the circumstance, will hand write letters when employees go above and beyond to make my service seem personalized. This needs to be made public so that this doesn't occur to anyone else moving forward. I own a 2025 Honda Civic Sport Touring Model which I own the title to. Ironic my emails required attachments, but the fixture shows detachment... This is how the Speedway umbrella dodges financial accountability for faulty pumps.

This gas station predates who knows how many businesses in the vicinity... and yet I'm the first to review it on Yelp and had to create a listing. Likely cause it's nothing special and the only memorable thing about it is if someone is acting the fool here. People hustling for money, drunks being obnoxious... sometimes the location here isn't worth the annoyance of stopping. The Marathon a bit to the north on Woodward, past the museums and DPL is somewhat more chill and has a much better convenience store selection. Shell is tiny and bare bones, packed to the gills with junk food, junk food and cancer sticks behind the glass. Nothing healthy at all beyond water and maaaybe bananas. It's usually dirty and messy in there, too. All kinds of stickiness around the cheap ass gas station cappuccino machine. You might get stuck waiting for people playing the lottery there, though. Thank goodness there's no lottery at this Shell. The line would be halfway through the parking lot with even more bs going on. I will pull in here to gas up if I'm on E but generally avoid this Shell especially on weekend nights and anytime it's jammed up which is often.

The Marathon up at Warren and 75 is cleaner and less depressing. Brace to be asked for money and cigarettes here. I give beggars change or even a buck here and there but I'm much more likely to engage in a little charity someplace that's not here. I was tempted to give the place two stars as this is going to be the first review and it's at least functional. You can get gas here, even if the triggers on the gas pumps are temperamental and you can get beverages and snacks, albeit unhealthy, if you wait in line. And I've never had issues with the employees here. But then I saw the fake ass photos the business owner put up here on Yelp. None of them are from this gas station. What a joke! There's a pump 14 when there's only 8 pumps here. I've noticed this type of thing on Yelp with stock photos before but it never stuck out to me the way it does here. The disconnect is so great I might actually go back and patronize this gas station again just to collect actual photos of this particular Exxon for all the gas station connoisseurs here.

I imagine many different ethnicities do not stop here being that the gas clerk asked if I got a new car. I've only been in this place once before about 2 years ago and was indeed driving a different car at that time. All that made this area a big dead end it made no sense to venture into if you're not a Wayne State student or employee. This Sevs does some serious business. I'm guessing it does the most volume of any 7-11 in Detroit. Only the one on Jefferson between downtown and Belle Isle and the one in Cadillac Square offer any real competition and I'm guessing this college Sevs crushes em. Parking here sucks. I'm not keen to feed the meters and even if i was spaces are scant. Late night on the weekends, though, after metered hours, when I'm getting off my restaurant job grind and have a taste for some junk food this place is banging. Like crazy busy. Like I almost feel like I'm in an 80s movie or TV show where the convenience store is this happening hangout. There's more space here for hot food - pizza, wings, hot dogs, taquitos, etc - than I've ever seen at a Sevs and they keep it moving, too. The hot dogs are no doubt unhealthy but I at least feel like they haven't been rolling around on those metal cylinders for hours. The slurpee and Big Gulp stations are bigger than usual as well. And there's usually three employees on as opposed to the one or two you'd usually see. Even still the line at the checkouts gets stacked pretty deep - seven, eight or nine at times. One night I came in a bit earlier, around ten and it wasn't jumping, only a couple other patrons besides me. Late night, though, students with snack attacks are rolling deep. As you can imagine things can get pretty messy here sometimes with all that foot traffic. The employees do a reasonable job I'm sure but the customers just work even harder at tearing this place up. The trash can by the hot dog station just isn't close enough to it either. The cops are ALWAYS in here, too, even more than a regular 7-11. That night I came in earlier than usual was I think the only night I didn't see police in here and I've probably been to this Sevs at least 7 or 8 times by now. No good cheap dollar beverages here, they only stock the big Arizonas and even waters run more than a buck. They do actually have a couple functioning water fountains, though, for some reason. This 7-11 is just really extra and sometimes I'm in the mood for that and sometimes not. If you need late night convenience around here after the mighty Marcus Market closes and you don't feel like fighting the crowd here I recommend Midtown Market.
