I'll try not to comment on the clientele because that isn't under the complete control of the hotel, but let's just say it was rowdy and loud. Due to availability we needed to stay in 2 rooms. One room was on the first floor. The entire ground floor smells like they must had had a flood and it is now mildewy and moldy. The conference room even had floor fans going so I'd say that's a good guess. The workout room is itty bitty which is fine, but the treadmill wouldn't turn on and maybe I'm glad because the mildew smell and humidity in there was probably not good for breathing. The next room was better smelling albeit still slightly damp and smelly. But we had fewer towels than people and they couldn't provide any more towels to us because they didn't have any. They did offer to wash the two towels that we had and we'd get them back in over an hour. Seriously? That's just unacceptable and poor management of a hotel.

The hotel itself wa's clean, had all the modern amenities and I was on par with what we are accustomed to. They have a complementary breakfast with a lot of options. The indoor pool was warm and clean. Our room was clean and comfortable. All the reviews about friendly staff are a hundred percent accurate. From check in to check out, everybody was very kind and friendly. There's not a lot in Macon, Missouri, but this Comfort inn & suites was a great place to lay our head while we were visiting family in town. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the heater. On our last night, the heater started making a ton of noise. Which reminds me, I forgot to tell the front desk about it when we checked out, oops!

It is very convenient to the Katy Trail and Main Street Boonville, but it's not a chain place, and it's a little more expensive. The place was built in 1905, and it must've been nice for a town this size then. Judging from the makeup of room 6, it looks like they combined two rooms to make the one and then added the bathrooms (rooms in older hotels were tiny by modern standards and often had shared bathrooms). I'm sure they did that to all the rooms. It must've been very pricy to renovate this place. There's little touches that give this place character. A mix of modern and antique which yes, if you're not in the right mindset, you might not like at all. Myself, I loved the old style wooden blinds, thought the bed was comfy, and enjoyed the very effective a/c in my room after a hot day. The main things to give people pause will be a slight mustiness (think old library), creaky wooden floors, small TVs, and inconsistent hot water. One night I just couldn't get it hot and the next, it was as hot as a modern house. Oh, and one bit of advice when picking the rooms. Think carefully about whether you want a shower or a bath, as it looks like the ones with the jacuzzi tubs do not have shower heads, so it's a bath or nothing. As for the staff, they were all pleasant enough, but they didn't give the kinda spiel about all the options that you get from a lot of places. What would probably be better (and this could be a Covid thing preventing it) would be a little pamphlet or plastic card detailing what is where, maybe a menu for the restaurant posted, just little things like that. I don't usually bother with hotel breakfasts, but detailing that would be a good thing to put on a pamphlet as well. You could even point out the little shops or restaurants around town there, which I'm sure would save the front desk some work as well. Regardless, if I come back this way, I will happily stay here again. You just don't see a lot of places like this anywhere.

This is still a great hotel but, based on this stay, I'm lowering my rating to a 3-star. The two guys at the front desk when we checked in and they lady working the desk when we checked out we're all great. Professional, personable and efficient. The room was clean and quiet. BUT, and this is becoming more and more of a problem with hotel rooms, it was impossible to get the room dark. There were special blackout shades to keep outside light from interfering but there was a giant (actually it wasn't that big) bright green LED on the thermostat that gave the room a green glow all night. The lady at the front desk at check out said we weren't the first to complain about the green LED. She said that next time we should check with the desk and they'd give us tape to cover it. Misc LED's on the TV, microwave, smoke detectors, etc are making it hard to get a room really dark. Then at breakfast (yeah, I know it's free), they were out of bacon AND their signature cinnamon rolls. I overheard the breakfast hostess telling one guest that "THEY" never gave her enough bacon. Then I overheard her telling another guest that there were no cinnamon rolls because "the truck didn't come yet". This is still a nice hotel and we'll continue to stay here on our way west. It just needs to pay better attention to details, and the breakfast staff needs to be more hospitable and stop blaming "them" and "the truck ".

The front desk staff were so friendly and professional. Our keycard wasn't working at first and before we even asked for another one, he already had 2 more for us! The breakfast was impressive- there was REAL bacon, mini cheese omelets, tater tots, delicious fresh waffles, and a variety of juices and other baked goods. Also, oatmeal with toppings. There were also a variety of condiments and spreads to choose from. In our room, we were surprised to have a Keurig with good-quality K-cups, Green Mountain brand. Our room was so quiet and we could not hear any talking from other rooms, except doors closing but it wasn't as loud as it usually is when we've stayed at other hotels.
