Didn't bring our pup to Moab with us so we decided to bring him back some treats so that he'd forgive us . We stopped by the Barkery and were very welcomed. All of the ladies in the store asked about our pup and what we were looking for. They were super positive and very helpful. We ended up getting him some Rotisserie Chicken flavored Bark Pops and the cutest alligator looking dental chew bones. (see picture). He absolutely loves both! Such a great experience!

If you want more details, read on: We were visiting Moab for a long weekend in May 2021 and needed a daycare so we could do some hiking and canyoneering. I made 2 daycare reservations for our 11-year-old pup. I should have listened to my instincts when we arrived. The actual facility looks nothing like the online photos. Even though Tracey has a designated drop-off and pick-up hour, she was absent during drop-off until I finally called to make sure we had the right address. She was out walking a dog, which should have been my next 'alarm bell' that something wasn't quite right. Why would a dog need walked, if they're in an open play area all day? And if she's out walking dogs, who is supervising the daycare? At pick-up time, we arrived to find about 8 people that had been waiting for 30+ minutes, and Tracey was again absent. All the dogs are barking inside the barn, the office door was closed & lights off, and the barn door was cracked for airflow. When she finally arrived ~ 40 minutes into the pick-up hour, she was irritated that the parents were upset about her tardiness. She literally opened the door and started releasing dogs without leashes. Meanwhile, the dog parents are trying to catch the dogs, corral them away from cars, etc. Our pup was terrified as random people were trying to catch her to get a leash on her. Tracey was completely unfazed by the chaos as the dogs ran loose in the parking lot. Overall, I suspect that the dogs are kept in cages all day in the horse barn, and Tracey generally is not present all day. We obviously did not return for the next day's daycare reservation. I was willing to forgo a $500 private canyoneering/rappelling excursion, rather than trust Tracey with our pup for another day. Our canyoneering guide came through with a last-minute reservation at another daycare in Moab that was GREAT.

And Tracey had just opened her kennel within the month (March 2017.) Yes, it was a last resort for us, but also the best option! We especially appreciated Tracey's kindness and gentleness with us and our canine daughter, Bree. She was shaking when she went in, unsure of her first RV trip and being left in a foreign place. But after being held by Tracey, Bree became more calm, making it easier for us to leave with our minds at ease. There were other small to medium dogs there that day and they all played wonderfully together. I'm sure it's a testament to Tracey's knowledge and love for dogs. Getting there can be just a little tricky, so just be aware... It's about 5-8 minutes south of downtown Moab, between mile markers 118 and 119. Enter at the "Moab Business Park" sign on the east side of the highway where there are white tin, rounded, warehouse-like facilities. Veer to the left and there it is on the right. Now go and enjoy the beauty around Moab as your furry friends enjoys a good play date (or sleep over.) Ours did, and slept well that night in our RV home away from home.

For over a year, my son has been excited and patiently waiting for the opportunity to get a leopard gecko. After spending considerable time researching proper care and finally being financially able to move forward with the purchase, we came into the petco store excited to buy both the gecko and the necessary supplies. We selected an enclosure that was literally labeled and marketed as a "Leopard Gecko Enclosure." However, when we attempted to purchase the gecko, the employee assisting us immediately began questioning us about what kind of tank we had at home. I explained that we were purchasing the leopard gecko enclosure available in the store. The employee then informed me that the enclosure was "not big enough" and insisted that I needed to purchase a 25-gallon tank. I am well versed in reptile care, and I am unaware of any universally accepted research or standards stating that a leopard gecko absolutely requires a 25-gallon enclosure immediately, especially for a juvenile setup. I also explained to the employee that I fully understood the need to eventually upgrade the enclosure and that I am currently in the process of building a home, where I planned to establish a larger permanent habitat. Instead of respectfully acknowledging my explanation, the employee responded in a condescending manner by asking me, "When are you going to get a new house?" The tone and attitude were unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Most upsetting of all, the employee ultimately refused the sale of the leopard gecko entirely, despite the fact that we were purchasing the enclosure specifically marketed for that animal. My son was devastated. What should have been an exciting and memorable experience for him turned into an embarrassing and upsetting situation. I then spoke with the manager on duty, hoping for a more professional and reasonable conversation. Unfortunately, the manager immediately sided with the employee and did not appear interested in listening to or addressing my concerns regarding the employee's attitude or conduct. What I find especially disturbing is that I personally witnessed another customer just weeks prior purchase this exact type of enclosure for the same species without issue. I cannot ignore the fact that I was treated differently and made to feel judged. As someone with visible tattoos, I genuinely walked away feeling discriminated against based on my appearance. There was absolutely no reasonable justification for denying the sale of a leopard gecko to a child who had been excited for over a year and whose parent was actively purchasing the enclosure that ZOOMED markets for that exact animal. I understand and respect the importance of animal welfare, but there is a significant difference between educating customers respectfully and treating them with condescension, suspicion, and bias. Especially because the employee lied and said that she has 15 leopard geckos all in 40 gallon aquariums ... I would love to see her electric bill and how she afford that working at Petco. Also, Petco has two leopard geckos housed in less than 20 gallon aquarium as you can see in the video. The way this interaction was handled was unprofessional, humiliating, and entirely unnecessary. Based on their reviews, It also looks like it's not the first time that they have handled their customers this way. I would like to give a huge shout out to PETSMART and their staff for helping us out and selling us two beautiful leopard geckos!
