My contractor found a broken spring for our garage door and I needed same day service for work being done on the property. I contacted Mo Better and they arrived same day. The initial quote to fix was $900 plus. I googled the typical US charge - 150 to 350 single spring and 350 to 700 for double springs. I contacted the technician back to check if double spring repair. No - single spring broken. I asked for a discount and was offered $730 to repair. I shared the national repair average and that was the best Mo Better could do. Why can they charge that? Because it is Florida and the average age resident won't challenge the cost and because THEY CAN. Technician Isaak did a superb job! He diagnosed quickly garage door problem, suggested 3 options and stopped that number two when things were working properly. He was so efficient and meticulous in the way he worked and obviously was well experienced. In addition, he had a warm and kind personality. He left the garage in immaculate condition and worked very hard until long into the evening when he was sure everything was working properly. He is a real perfectionist. He is well mannered and I cannot say enough positive things about him. More better is lucky to have him as an employee. read more

Apparently they sold our builder a heavy door and probably out bid other companies by putting in a smaller motor that is strained pulling such a large door. I'd give them zero stars if I could. When our 4-year old opener went down, a tech charged me $360 to diagnose the problem and rebalance the door (he did rebalance). Told me to order a new logic board (under warranty) and they would put it in for $300. I ordered the part and put it in myself. Same problem. They sent the same guy out again but did not charge a fee. Now he says it needs a new motor, not under warranty. That didn't make sense given the problem we were having, so I sent him home. Did a little leg work on internet and all signs were pointing to a bad travel module. Ordered the part for $60, installed it and reprogrammed the door. Works like new. The service agent who arrived was very professional and courteous initially during my meeting. The issue came when the conversation switched to the hard upsell from the agent. After repeatedly identifying what I wanted to repair, it was apparent he wanted to sell me more. He did put me on the phone With his boss at corporate. and it was the same story. We were notified by our Home Watch service that the garage door opener wasn't working. Since Allied Garage Door had installed the unit and serviced it since we purchased the home, I called them. However, the number was answered by Mo Better Garage, who informed me they had acquired Allied and would be handling all related service going forward. I did my due diligence and looked up Mo Better online and saw that they had high ratings, they were BBB accredited and locally owned. I scheduled an appointment for two weeks later when I would be back in town. The technician arrived as scheduled and, after inspecting the unit, told me the opener was no longer functional and needed to be replaced. He then pulled out a tablet and began quoting prices for a new opener. When I saw the cost, I was shocked--it was significantly higher than expected. When I asked if he was serious, he said prices had increased due to rising insurance and labor costs and claimed that other companies would quote similarly. I went ahead with the replacement as well as replacement rollers and the bottom weather seal after he stated they needed replaced and showed me what they should look like. Afterwards, I did my own research and found that I was charged double the going rate for the same type of work. I contacted multiple other companies to confirm this, and every single quote was substantially lower (less than half the price). Also when I looked on the BBB page it stated that Mo Better is not BBB accredited. What's worse is the complete lack of accountability from Mo Better Garage. I've attempted to contact Shawna Ferenz, who lists herself as the President, CEO, and Customer Service Manager (as stated by the Receptionist), several times--including driving to their office, without a single response. For someone holding all those titles, you'd expect at least a return call. Yes, the work was completed--but at an outrageous price and with zero follow-up. This is not how a reputable business should operate. Overpriced, unresponsive, and unprofessional. I would not recommend Mo Better Garage to anyone. This is the first I have ever written but I felt compelled to write this because the service from this company was outrageously poor and rapaciously overpriced. Literally $800 for spraying WD-40 on our garage doors for 15 minutes of work. It was a complete rip off. I was intrigued by their advertising company total scam. My next outreach is to the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully they can do something to prevent awful companies like this from ripping off other people. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE, an Absolute rip off! They have been to my home three times and can't fix my garage door. They won't come to your house until you agree to pay their $59 service fee, then in my case, they stood with their hands in their pockets and told me they couldn't do the job and charged me the fee. I got my door repaired by one of their employees and his buddy on their off hours. This year I agreed to a "tune up" of my garage door @ $29. The technician was here for more than two hours and my final charge was $216.73 because of extenuating issues. Less than a month later the garage door wouldn't go all the way up and the sent their "warranty expert" who told me the technician didn't know what he was doing and that the whole garage door needed replaced and the price would be close to $18,000! Had a spring break and they were able to come out the same day. The tech showed up and tried to upsell options (no biggie) and settled on a "higher quality spring". After the tech left we noticed issues with the operation from time to time until ultimately the door wouldn't operate at all. I called a different company and the tech seemed very knowledgeable. Showed me how the balance was off how much force was required to raise the door. He said the spring that was installed was too small for the door which started a cascade of issues. Not to mention the garage motor wasn't adjusted correctly and it was slamming the door into the ground causing the railing to bend. I arranged for a technician to come while I was at work. My wife said the technician was polite and professional, HOWEVER the charge to replace the sensors was $700!!!! these sensors are available online and at several local stores for prices ranging from $38 to just under $50. I am a single female. I have a double garage door and a single. Both sounded funny (that's female speak) so I contacted Mo Better. Big mistake. First, they charge a diagnostic fee of $59.00. Then I was talked in to signing up for their annual maintenance program which would give me a 10% discount, but it still cost me $189.00. Not really sure what it was for. Task AD40. Then there was another $207.00 to test the motor and calibrate down force. I hate to admit being foolish enough to agree to those charges. We contacted Mo Better Garage Door to service two broken cables on a single stall garage door. The service tech spent (45) minutes taking pictures of both doors, lifts and hardware, criticizing everything and never getting any tools out of his truck. He then advised that it would be $8,000 to replace everything, on both doors. It was clear this was a total scam, since the other door was working perfectly. I asked that he only perform the work that we had requested, he refused. He went on and on about liability and safety and told me that both of our doors were completely shot and dangerous. Total B.S. He did nothing and then asked for a CC number to pay the $59.00 service fee. I called Mo Better office and complained about this terrible service, they instructed the tech to leave. We later contacted Ray North Garage Door for the same service and paid $270.00 total cost, including a $120.00 service fee. The technician (Fransisco) was amazing, he was an expert with (7) of experience installing new doors and hardware. Within 30 minutes he replaced (4) cables, installed (4) new wheels, installed (4) new door sensors, adjusted springs, and lubricated all wheels, lift chains and more. He saw no safety concerns or issues. Both doors are now working perfectly fine, like new. I shared my experience of Mo Better with friends and heard the similar stories of scams and price gouging. One friend shared that they charged him $1,200 for replacing a single spring that sells for $80.00 at Lowe's. They charged $600 for the spring and $600 for the installation. I asked Ray North what they charge for this same service, $100.00 for the spring and $85.00 to install. Thankfully, our Governor and the Attorney General in the State of Florida have little tolerance for scammers who use dishonest and predatory pricing and sales tactics. The wire from my garage door opener unit on the ceiling snapped and had to be replaced and reconnected....a plate and screws had to be installed to secure the wiring on the wall above the door. the tech was there approximately 1 hour and I was charged $660 ( after my 10% discount?). This amount included $209 for "preventative maintenance"....oiling the door and rollers....I told the tech the door was being replaced soon and that I didn't need that work done....he insisted I did. Still this was all done in 1 hour! I recently had my garage springs break and called Mo Better (aka Allied Doors on bank statement) because they had just replaced my opener in the summer. The cost was $1,400!! un believable!! Last week I called them because the bracket holding the chain mechanism to the door was loose and the door wouldnt function properly. They told me if it was a service call it would be $79 and someone could be out within a few hours. I told them it had to do with the mechanism on something they replaced over the summer and was covered by warranty....then they told me if it was a warranty call they could have someone out 3 days later!!! I took it upon myself to solve the problem for $0.23 with a bolt from Home Depot. After all I've paid them in the last year, I ended up solving the problem myself. I WILL NOT be calling them again.
