Sook's Korean Kitchen - Chicken bulgogi with a salad

Sook's Korean Kitchen

Great food, I had the Bulgogi plate with rice and homemade kitchen every week at the Franklin Jr…read more High farmers market for several summers. The service was always excellent. It was a great food truck.

Sook's Korean Kitchen was the featured food truck partnering with Ashworth Snow a few nights ago…read more And I just happened to drive by on my way to Walgreens. I think there's a truck there with them most Wednesday nights... I've been waiting for a chance to try these guys. It was one of the trucks high on my want list. Tonight I swept the middle row of their menu. Spicy pork (comes with rice and kimchi), a chicken bulgogi sandwich, and three egg rolls. $24 total before tip. I LOVED the spicy pork... I threw the pork, the rice, and the kimchi altogether almost immediately. This should be the new holy trinity. The egg rolls were very good. The wrap had a nice crunch and the filling tasted great. Cooked perfectly. The chicken bulgogi sandwich... It was okay. It was really overshadowed by the other two items. The chicken was tender and well cooked. The flavors popped. The roll reminded me of a lot of banh mi rolls I've had in the past. I really enjoyed the roll... Kind of like the exterior of the egg rolls it brought a change of texture to the party after the spicy pork. The staff of this truck was amazing to deal with. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. The flow went well from ordering to picking up. The food was well packaged. The wait wasn't long at all. I'm glad I was finally able to catch up with this crew. I'll be watching the Sook's Korean Kitchen and Ashworth Snow's Facebook pages. Maybe sweep another row of menu items. And if want a spectacular cold treat hit up Ashworth Snow for a Dreamsicle stuffed with vanilla ice cream... You can thank me later. https://www.facebook.com/Sooks-Korean-Kitchen-229258970936968/ https://m.facebook.com/ashworthsnow/

Great Korean Fried chicken!…read more You'll spend a decent bit, but you will end up with lots of food and sides! Great flavor on the wings and the sides were well prepared as well. Service took just a few minutes to have our food delivered on a decently busy Friday night, but I think that was more so due to having to make our food to be fresh!

I've tried three Korean Fried Chicken restaurants in the Des Moines metro area and this one does…read morenot cut it. First, we had to clean our table. It had food left over on it and was greasy but they were so busy they couldn't get to cleaning it. We ordered the 5 piece bone-in and boneless chicken plates with the double dunk sauce. The bone-in chicken wings were so small it made me laugh. Needless to say, the chicken did not fill me up at all. Instead, the sides that the meal came with (white rice, potato salad, pickled radish, macaroni and cheese) were surprisingly large and filled my stomach. For $14, I didn't think I would be paying for an entree of sides and a side of chicken. The mini fried chicken was also soggy! I noticed those around us had just their fried chicken with no sauce so they probably figured out it arrives soggy. And it was lukewarm in temperature and not hot out of the fryer. Service was friendly though when they were taking our order. The restaurant is pretty much self serve where you get your own water, and utensils and return your plates to the designated area. The two stars are for the sides and service--not the chicken. If you want good fried chicken that is a reasonable to large size and where the fried batter still remains crispy after having sauce poured over it, I recommend Chikin Lickin.

Last night we had one of the best Asian meals we've had in a long time. Fawn's has been on my list…read moreof places to try for many years but for some reason we had never tried it. We try one new restaurant each month just to keep things fresh, so this time I suggested Fawn's. I'm really glad we did. I had heard so many great things about the food so I was excited to try it. When I saw the menu, though, I was a little nervous because they serve Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Laotian food. In my experience, restaurants that try to serve all kinds of Asian food rarely do one or all of them well. I ordered Pad Thai and my husband got Evil Jungle Prince. I was very pleased. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was SO good! My husband loved his dish, too. It had chicken and vegetables with a spicy sauce made with red curry and coconut milk. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. We each got two meals out of our dinners. I love it when that happens. The place isn't fancy. It's in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's very clean and well-kept. There's not much for ambience besides two flat screen TVs. It doesn't matter because it's the food that really stands out. The service was excellent, too. My husband had his iced tea refilled twice without even asking. Great affordable food and good service. What more can you ask for? If you love Asian food, give them a try. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

I would definitely stop here again for lunch

Long overdue review. You gotta love this pop up for multiple reasons…read more 1) variety - every month is a different special ramen. Both ramen varieties include a meat and veggie option for our vegetarians. 2) they are a well loved LGBTQ+ owned local business - we love to support that! 3) their food is absolutely delicious. Their appetizers are YUM. I definitely recommend the artichoke tempura. It took awhile for me to order here. They are only available for pick up/dine in on wednesdays. I am on Instagram and their Instagram page has been very helpful. They have a how-to assemble on their website. If you're doing pick up, I much recommend getting the uncooked noodles. Literally takes a minute of boiling the noodles to assemble and makes me feel like I'm working with a Hello Fresh meal. Also. I recommend adding an egg with your ramen. Note. You can also order a day ahead and You can put in the time you'll pick it up. They are pretty popular so you do have to be patient since they're making all of this fresh. I have arrived at the time of pick up and still having to wait an additional 15 minutes bc they're stocked full of orders.

Finally joined the Ramen Club yesterday!…read more Luuuuuuv the red curry ramen! I love the flavor of the broth. Much appreciation that it's a vegetable broth. The texture of the noodles were so unique and perfectly chewy yet soft. Found out they are made without egg. The masubi was delectable!! I love how authentic it tasted. I could eat 20 of those. Made perfectly! During COVID19 review: Got take out. No dine-in is allowed. Employees were masked. A simple friendly hello when I arrived for my order. Pick up area was nice and orderly. Several orders were waiting besides mine. Bringing home to put together was easy peasy. We have a bit of a drive, so when we arrived home we had to heat the broth for a bit on the stove. Everything was nicely packaged and labeled. Overall my review is for the quality of food and it was AWESOME! I had very minimal interaction with service so I don't have any thoughts there. I learned of Ramen Club DSM through Instagram and found they have a wonderful word of mouth, social media marketing and following. I loved everything and am a huge fan. I can't wait to have another bowl and MAYBE, JUST MAYBE...dine in once there's an ok to eat there.
