I stayed overnight in Farmington and was on my way to eat at Hometown Hamburgers and noticed a packed parking lot here. I got to the hamburger joint only to find out it is drive through/takeout only. So I returned here and managed to snag a parking spot that had just opened up.. It looked promising from the big smiles on people leaving. I went in and the large party just in front of me was just getting seated. But it took me a while to get seated because I wasn't noticed. Once seated, it took another long while for a server to appear with chips and a very tasty salsa which proved the best part of the meal. Looking over the menu and the "tourist"Mexico decor and colors, I could tell it was distributor-driven. The beers and the desserts had obviously been distributor "suggestions". My experience over the last 35 years eating out on the road several hundred times a year made it obvious. I decided on a burrito plate and asked the server which chile was spiciest. He said the red was very spicy so I went with the burrito chile colorado. C'mon dude, this is New Mexico! That chile wasn't spicy at all! Utterly bland is the word! So dinner was a big disappointment.. When I was done, I was asked if I wanted dessert. I asked if anything was homemade. Nothing. It all came industrially produced by a food service company. Not as good as we expected per the existing ratings. Shrimp and crab burrito is really imitation crab that you buy in the grocery. The hamburger in the tacos was reported to be strange per our nephew. Shrimp was overcooked in the shrimp and salsa dish. We didn't complain as we are not in this area very often. read more

Great Mexican restaurant in Farmington. My favorite so far. It's always a good sign when you walk in and you are the only non-Hispanic person there and everyone is speaking Spanish. It is casual with Latin decor. Service was very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty. I recommend the three item grande plate. You can pick which three items you want from a list. It was about $15 and more than filled me up. The first bowl of chips and excellent fresh salsa is free. After that, if you want more, it is $1.99. I am in Farmington every few months for work and this is my go to restaurant for when I want tasty Mexican food. read more

We had a long hot day at the Aztec ruins. I wanted a good marg and a chili rellano, guacamole and chips. They totally delivered!! The Marg was perfect, and the rellano goes down as one of the best!! I came to dinner around 6:30 on St Patrick's Day 2025. Restaurant is located right off the main road. Plenty of parking. I was seated in a booth next to the bathroom. I was greeted by a server, chips & salsa and water were brought. The chips are so fresh, light and crispy. I also enjoyed the salsa; fresh, little chunks of onions/tomatoes and not spicy. I ordered the 4 shredded beef crunchy taco plate. No beans or rice. The tacos are small. The shredded beef were on the salty size but the salsa balanced the salt. Customer service was fine. Farmington New Mexico Almost 8 o'clock Saturday night and this place is quite busy. The tables are mostly booths. We did get one table at the very back of the restaurant up against the wall by the restroom. The staff works fast and they all help each other. They immediately brought us a basket of chips and salsa. I ordered a beer and it was a Mexican beer that they lined the glass with chili pepper. It was very delicious. I ordered the chicken burrito and my husband ordered the Chipotle chicken enchiladas. Both are served with a side of rice and refried beans. I asked if they had black beans, but they said they only had refried. The rice is white rice with corn, carrots, and peas. The vegetables look like it came from a frozen mix. Had a little bit of red sauce in it. The beans were like gravy. I did not have one whole bean on my plate. Neither the rice nor the beans had any flavor whatsoever. In fact, the beans were not even tolerable to eat. They were like the texture of a bad bowel. My chicken burrito was a tortilla that was not quite warm and loaded with nothing but shredded chicken. I put the green sauce on the side but it had no cheese. Very bland, very boring for the price. I could have gone to Chipotle and got a better selection. Enchiladas were the same thing just with a different sauce and tortilla. Yelp gave this place great reviews. I don't know what I am missing. They were very busy, Service was fine, and the restaurant seem to run efficiently. But I like to have good food, and this is where they lacked. I would not come back to this restaurant. read more

Food was great. Service not so much. Some of the most authentic barbacoa I've had. Nachos are good. Staff were not rude. They just were not much of anything. Glad we didn't need refills or desert because no one was going to ask and certainly didn't ask. I'm not mad. But definitely don't see a need to leave a tip when there's been no reason provided to warrant a tip.
