    I tried using the AAA hotel booking app. It doesn't work. I made a reservation on it and got to…read morethe major chain hotel at 11pm and they told my family that the only thing they could offer us was a couch in the lounge. They were all booked up. "But I made a reservation online", I said. The desk clerk responded, "I don't know anything about no app." He said that we could sleep on the lounge couch. We looked again at the app and found another hotel nearby. At the front desk of the second hotel I was quoted a high price for a room. I said the AAA app had a lower price. They invited me try booking online. I punched in the current date, my credit card and clicked accept. The app changed the date without my realizing it and I ended up paying for a room two days later. I paid in cash and knew, looking forward, that I was going to have a tough time getting a refund. It took at least 4 frustrating hours over the phone and emailing to finally get a (partial?) refund from the hotel itself, which actually was not at fault for the mistake. The AAA representative listened sympathetically but said that they did not take any responsibility for the app that bears their name. If you go through some layers of corporate obfuscation, the app might be operated by Expedia. They do not want you calling them and they certainly don't want to give you your money back. So don't make reservations through the app unless you want to lose your money. But you can still use it this way: Check the nearby hotels on the app and call them directly. Say that you saw a price quoted on the AAA app and ask if they can honor it. Our second hotel did not honor the AAA price but came pretty close.

    Had a tire go flat while on Loudon Rd., Concord, NH, late Dec. 2024- and pulled into the lot near…read morethe Post Office. Called AAA, and was told they'd be there in about 45 minutes. They got there in less than half an hour! The AAA man knew his stuff, located the leak (whatever had punctured the tire had fallen out) and patched the tire quickly and expertly. It is Jan. 5, 2025, and the tire is still great, and I bet it will still be great until I replace the whole set of 4 tires!

    I used State Farm from Mr. Chan many, many years ago when he was new to Concord and was always…read morehappy with his service. Over the years, for a variety of reasons, I ended up with various other companies. Lately however I began to feel that I was being overcharged. Recalling that I had been happy with State Farm and The Chan Agency in the past I decided to get a quote from him. And was I glad I did! Reagan - I hope I'm spelling that properly - was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Unfortunately her computer was having issues which prevented her from getting me an immediate quote. But she promised to work on it and get back to me as soon as she could... which she did within just a few hours. Imagine my shock when she informed me that State Farm could save me nearly HALF what I had been paying. I almost fainted! Of course we will see how they handle claims when and if I have any. But I have every confidence that going with State Farm was a good decision. Only wish I'd done it sooner!

All responses I received from her seemed rushed as if she was bothered by me asking any questions. They only call when they want to sell you insurance. I never met Louis Chan and was never contacted by him in 4 years with his office. All the office wanted was my money and not to be bothered. They took a temporary address and requoted my insurance without telling me and sent me a bill with a retroactive date they chose arbitrarily. They never bothered to communicate with me about it - just sent the bill. When I called back, they showed obvious frustration that they would have to change it. They called, threatening that my insurance was going to be cancelled without politely asking questions. It was rude and I wish that I had switched insurance long ago - prior to my move out of the area.
