I like MM LaFleur's clothing and the Chicago store is very appealing, but the store doesn't keep its own posted hours. I went by today (Sunday), at 1:15pm, when it is supposedly open from 10am until 6 and no one was there- the store was dark and no one answered the phone. Disappointing. I visited this store for the first time on a weekday afternoon. While the items caught my interest, I was disappointed with the level of customer service I received. When I inquired about pricing (since non of the items had price tags) and asked for styling suggestions to coordinate with pieces I was considering, the sales associate remained seated behind the counter throughout our entire interaction. As the only customer in the store, I had hoped for more personalized attention. When I asked for recommendations on tops or sweaters that would complement the dress and pants I was interested in, I would have appreciated her coming over to show me the items she was suggesting rather than just describing them from across the room. The lack of hands-on assistance ultimately led me to leave without making a purchase. With some more attentive, engaged service, this could have been a very different shopping experience. read more

I was eager to shop here after noting on it's website that walkins are welcome. However, I found out quickly that walking are NOT welcomed at least by the sales associate the day I was there. Immediately upon my arrival the sales associate told me appointments are preferred and was unhelpful and really rather rude to me. She wasn't busy as there was only one other person there. Make an appointment and prepare to be pampered. I've been ordering from MM LaFleur for a few years (originally online, then at the Chicago pop-up store at the Langham, now here). MM LaFleur has innovative workwear that is carefully designed with the user in mind. Dresses have pockets, dresses with smaller straps have hooks to keep your bra strap from showing, some dresses have cloth pads on the inside around the armpits to help keep sweat from showing, the fabrics are soft and durable... I could go on. I treat myself with MM LaFleur when I have a professional accomplishment or if I want to look and feel like a boss. The showroom is beautiful. They offer you water, coffee or prosecco when you arrive. When you book your appointment, you can let them know what you are looking for. When I arrived, my stylist had 5 dresses in my size for me to try on, and she kept on pulling in more dresses based on my preferences as the fitting continued. There is no wasting time here if you don't want to -- I got in the fitting room and started trying on right away. MM LaFleur is pricey, but I find the customer experience, durability of the clothes, and design integrity to be worth investing in critical workwear pieces. read more

I've been shopping with MM.LaFleur for the last year and am really pleased with the quality of the clothes and the services provided by the stylists. Their workwear is polished and professional but also incredibly comfortable. I've bought trousers there that look formal but have the ease of sweatpants. Their tops are beautiful draped but also superbly comfortable. Their sweaters are made of top-quality cashmere and merino wool that regulate temperatures like a dream. In short, imagine business wear that looks conventional but feels so good that you could take a nap in it. Best of all the vast majority of their clothes are machine washable and made of wrinkle-resistant fabrics that will dry flat overnight. Many of their designs are innovative - trousers without the traditional zippered flat front, blouses with draping, and silhouettes that work for many women. They have the most beautiful clothes for women who wear extended sizes. I'm petite, so it's difficult for me to buy clothes off the rack without significant alterations. MM. designs fit me perfectly from the get go, and they fit just as well whether I gain or lose several pounds, which I can't say for other brands. The Chicago showroom is a beautiful space; the last time I was there, my stylist spent more than an hour with me and gave me her honest opinion about how things looked. You can order and return/exchange clothes in the showroom too. Yes, the clothes tend to be expensive. But unlike many other retailers, most of the clothes are made in New York City and at fair wages. What a fantastic clothing line with quality pieces and amazing service!! Upon arrival for my stylist appointment (free! no buying commitments!), I got slippers-that I got to take home to wear so it was easier to change. Meanwhile, the MM LaFleur ladies were modeling and taking photos to post for the Chicago store social media. So fun to see them get creative--I loved every outfit they came out with! The quality of the materials they use is amazing. My stylist was Julia and she was fantastic. I can't tell you how much fun I had with the MM Lafleur ladies...we were giggling and sharing style inspirations and books. I can't wait to go back! While the showroom was nice, and so was my stylist, the overall experience didn't come close to meeting my expectations. I selected 4 pieces and none were available to be sent to me. The manager, who was either having a really bad day or has a lot to learn about customer service, managed to find me a sample from another store that could be sold to me. She seemed put out by the whole thing and didn't so much as apologize that I spent an hour there only to learn that none of the things I selected were able be sold (in new condition) to me. I'll also add that, for the price, the clothes didn't seem all that great or fashion forward. The only positive thing about this place is the stylist assigned to me. She had lots of energy and a great attitude. read more
