Dave built an incredible pergola and fence in my driveway. The project was tricky because the…read moredriveway isn't square, but a little wedge shaped. Aside from other good reviews and pergola jobs on Next-door, I picked him because his proposal included detailed plan and profile drafting markups of how he envisioned the pergola. He gave me three options considering different wood choices (cedar, douglas fir, etc.). He showed up when he said he would and worked continuously through the project. He continually communicated with me on schedule and project decisions. To call his attention to detail impeccable hardly seems to do it justice. Every surface was beautifully sanded and stained. He used black steel hardware everywhere he could. Where a few of the bolts couldn't be purchased in black, he painted them black so that everything would match. I didn't even know they made black silicone, which he used to seal any seems where wood butted against other wood. He custom crafted the corner supports. Instead of bolting beams onto the driveway, he cut the concrete, dug a deep hole, and poured concrete around a massive steel footing for each post. He custom built the gate around the style of fence I'd asked for so that it blends in perfectly. He carefully preserved the grapes and wisteria that were growing on the old fence so that when he was finished I was able to move it all onto the new structure. While building, Dave covered the wood with a tarp even when there was no chance of rain, which saved me a lot of money when my sprinklers threw a fit and doused the driveway he was working on in the middle of the night. His labor cost was extremely reasonable, and he's a fantastic person.
