DC Roofing - Roof Replacement in Melbourne, FL

DC Roofing

It's now November 21, 2019, and DC Roofing replaced my roof in June of this year. I waited to see…read morehow the roof held up and what response I'd get to any problems, and it's now been through several of our Florida "deluges". I'm unable to evaluate any response to problems because there have been no problems. I've gone into my attic after several major rainstorms and can find no issues whatsoever, leaks or otherwise. DC Roofing gave me the lowest quote, which was cause for some reservation, but after checking their reviews on several sites, which were uniformly positive, I decided to go with them. The owners, Dave and Colleen, were pleasant, courteous, and professional, and accommodated our preferences in every reasonable way, even to including additional roof vents and a wind mitigation survey within the same bid. Their crew was likewise courteous and professional, and were able to answer any questions I had as they replaced the roof. After replacing the roof, the only thing I've had to request of them was to provide me a release of lien for my insurance company (a statement they were paid and have no mechanic's lien against the property). They provided this within a couple of hours of my request, with no badgering or followup request on my part. Having to replace a roof is not fun, but I do not see how any roofing company could have made the process less painful, and I have now recommended them to several other friends & neighbors.

I highly recommend Ralph's Carpenter roofing. Ralph and his crew are professional, fast, reliable,…read morewonderful communication. Ralph and his crew are respectful, clean. Never left a mess at the end of the day. Even under an emergency situation of my mother about to lose her home insurance; Ralph made sure the job was done before the deadline and in the most professional way. If you want to hire a roofing contractor and not worry about them not showing up, extra hidden fees, messes, subpar communication or any other inconveniences. I can guarantee that Ralph and his crew will not disappoint; as this is the 2nd job he has done for our family in the most professional manner. It is hard to come by a wonderful company who looks out for the consumer at the end of the day. We thank you Ralph Carpenter Roofing for completing 2 amazing jobs for our family. We appreciate your hard work.

This company was great from beginning to end. Not only excellent communication from supervisors but…read morethe workers actually acted like they wanted to be there. Always a smile & a wave but they worked steadily (couldn't tell if they ever went on break or took lunch). This impressed me--the supervisor saw the city trash truck coming & pulled our trash container out where the truck could get at it easily. They also made sure that the mailbox was not blocked. I have never seen companies do this before. I also haven't seen a company where you didn't give a down payment & you paid at the end. They pay for the wind mitigation as well. The work took 2 days. One thing--it was 6 months from the paperwork to beginning because customer waiting list (they informed us about this but this was to be expected). The good news is that the customer is locked in at the price at that time (no unexpected "surprises" at the end. Hope this review helps anybody & that they get the same results like I did. Sorry for the "novel"-length review.

The person we spoke to at Roofclaim.com ****** informed us that we were not owners when roof was installed and that the 2 year warranty was up. ****** insisted even with the proof of photos that we sent to her that they did the job correctly, and the roofer we hired to fix issues was not being truthful with us. She was refusing to acknowledge obvious installation issues that caused us water damage. Box vents are engineered with a specific orientation to shed water. Installing them backwards is a violation of TN code 9501.1. Under Tennessee Code 9501.1 a roof is only "correctly" installed if it follows the manufactures manual. Every box vent manufacturer has a diagram showing the "high side" and the "downslope side" If the opening was facing uphill it was objectively incorrect regardless of what Roofclaim.com claims. This company failed to follow the 2018 International Residential code. We want to make sure that others are aware of this companies wrong doing and their response to us to to keep us from taking further action. Our action at this time is to inform the BBB of their incompetence and their tactics to avoid liability. The company thinks that since the 2 year warranty is over it voids them of responsibility. I feel they are not understanding that a warranty is for parts and labor, a building code is for safety and legality. Building codes are state laws that must be followed at time of construction. They choose to not fix a verified mistake. Our photos are proof that our statements are truth. It is frustrating that a company can prioritize a calendar date over the quality of their craftsmanship. We are paying for and fixing mistakes that were built into the roof from the start. We have photos of what they did, and manufactures proper method of installation. This company did business as Jasper roofing but they changed the name to Roofclaim.com Here is some useful info on their past as Jasper. Safety Record: OSHA has previously cited the company multiple times for residential fall protection violations. Legal History: The company was involved in a whistleblower settlement in 2018 regarding the termination of a safety manager who cooperated with OSHA. Business Model: They often operate by "knocking doors" after major storms to offer inspections and handle the insurance claim process directly. Additional information:The company has suggested to us that maintenance, storm damage, or prior repairs may have occurred between installation and our purchase of the home. However, if corrective work was required before our ownership, or during, that would further support the conclusion that the original installation was deficient. Properly installed roof vents do not require premature correction, nor do they reverse orientation due to maintenance or weather. The existence of prior issues would reinforce, not refute, concerns about improper installation in 2021. They are trying in anyway to direct blame away from their company.

Do not use this company!!! They do a piss poor job using the cheapest materials and expect you to…read morepay them when the job is not done correctly. My roof looks worst then it did before they replaced It. When the inspector came out he asked me three times if they replaced the roof or repaired it. They did a full replacement. After the replacement, two different people from RoofClaim came out to confirm there were repairs that needed to be done but refused to do the repairs until I paid them thousands of dollars. Who in there right mind would pay for a service that was not done correctly to began with. I feel bullied and scammed.

We called in 3 roofing companies for free evaluation and quotes -- two were recommended by neighbors and friends, one came after we researched reviews and company websites. We liked Heart's marketing message and their customer testimonials. Their quote was competitive with the other 2 companies, and they found issues and suggested solutions upon inspecting our old roof (including a 19' flat area where two rooflines meet and there was evidence of water collecting). Thomas, a company co-owner, suggested that they create a gently sloping v-shaped structure to direct water away and down the roof -- totally invisible from the street. Genius. And when on our roof for the estimate, Thomas videoed and narrated his evaluation of the roof's condition and issues, then shared it with us to review. We ultimately chose Heart for the job and decided on asphalt architectural shingles with a 130 mph wind speed rating. Their crew was excellent -- great skill level and attitudes. Here's how it went: Day 1: Dumpster on rubber tires cheerfully delivered to our driveway. Day 2: Tarp off the vegetation, perform the tear-off, replace some rotten plywood (included in the initial quote), remove and dispose of our old rain gutters, and install the drip edge flashing, ridge vents, and new underlayment. (Complete site clean-up was performed at the end of the day.) Day 3: City inspection. Pass. Day 4: Half day of installing our new shingles -- then a thorough clean-up including wiping down our new white drip edge flashing. Day 5: Final city inspection. Pass! We'd highly recommend to others all aspects of this project. Heart Roofing excelled!
