I came here on a Friday evening after work when I'm sure no one would like to work. Mike took me in for a consultation about a keratin treatment and was super flexible and open to just doing it right then and there. He took his time doing every part of the treatment and even when it took longer than expected, he did not rush. He expected everything to take around 2 hours but it was closer to 3 hours and 30 minutes and he still took his time with it all. Super enjoyable to talk to and really cares about the quality of his work. I 10/10 recommend going to him for your needs. I'll be back for a haircut at the least. It's been a few weeks and my hair is still wavy but much smoother/tamed. Keep this in mind because it does not completely straighten our hair (May depend on your texture). read more

I got one on one attention from Mike and that's something I never received in the other salons as they multitask and have more clients to attend to at the same time. Mike is absolutely awesome! He is so very nice and talented and really takes his time & listens to exactly what you say. He really puts his heart into his art/work. I have been trying to grow out color and a haircut from a previous stylist and I told him I wanted to keep as much length as possible while still trying to smooth out what someone else had done to my hair (the other person had it really chopped up and had all kinds of shades that I'm growing out).. Mike smoothed out my hair beautifully (he's very skilled at cutting because, honestly, I am amazed at how nicely he connected those very short pieces & still keep that much length... Just like I asked for).. I have medium dark hair naturally and, as I said, I had many previous shades that I told him to Leave in as I grow them out.. but that I just wanted ultra bright blond heavily highlighted throughout... I told the person I had purchased a Groupon and than he shared that I would need to pay $75 extra if my hair was past my shoulders. I wanted to write a review just to help future customers understand what they should expect. I appreciate the other 2 star review and I wish I could have had the 5 star review experiences. First I found him on Groupon and I needed a last min trim and blow dry the next day. I called first before purchasing the Groupon to see if he would be available and he immediately talked me out of purchasing the Groupon, he said he would charge the same price so I said fine. We scheduled an appt for the next morning, I arrived right on time-9am on a Sunday and at 9:05 I get a call from him saying he will be 5-10 min late. No big deal really but if you are on a schedule this could be something to think about because someone else mentioned he was late also. I walked in and he took me straight to wash my hair we didn't really discuss anything. The washing bowl was pretty uncomfortable but I'm short and it could be because of my height. Next I sit in the chair and this is where I really started rethinking my decision to come here. He was really rough with brushing my hair and was yanking my head left and right. I tried to counter act with holding my head straight but at the same time I didn't want to help rip my head out. FYI my hair wasn't that tangled all he needed to do was hold my hair at the top of my head and work the brush through. He was somewhat friendly but not very hospitable. Another regular customer came in waiting for him and he immediately offered her coffee and tea- I didn't get offered anything the entire time. Now time for the cut- he asked what I wanted and I said a trim of my layers. He starts cutting not informing me he was taking off about 3 inches, I'm usually warned or at least talked through what they are going to do cut wise. I asked for a blow dry and right after the cut he just gets right into it. I like going to a salon because usually I feel like my hair is pampered with salon quality products from start to finish. All that he used in my hair was shampoo and conditioner. When I asked for a heat protectant he refused and said "don't worry I won't burn your hair"....um that's not how it works. Who plans on burning hair? I use it at home for protection like a lot of other people I know. I asked for some sort of cream for frizz or smoothing since I felt like he was not trying to use any product and again he refused to use anything. Back to the blow dry it was very rough and I promise more hair of mine was pulled out than necessary or normal. I made him aware by yelling ouch one time and nothing changed. I paid $40 I understand you always take a risk with Groupon but I wish I would have went somewhere else. read more

I bought a Groupon for haircut, color and hydrating mask. I am a law student and have a networking event I wanted to look presentable for. I emailed to schedule an appointment. I had a doctor's appointment that was supposed to go until 4:15. I said as much in my email. I got a response saying that the only opening was at 3:30. Again, I had a networking thing so I cancelled my appointment for the hair appointment. I arrived at 3:20. I was told Michael wasn't there yet. Okay. 3:30 comes and he's still not here. A coworker texts him and apparently didn't get a response. Another coworker calls. This is our conversation (at 3:45 on a co-worker's cell phone): Him: I'll be 5 minutes late. Me: actually 5 minutes or the la interpretation of five minutes. Him: well Give me 10 minutes. Me: I had a doctor appointment i said would be over at 415 but had to reschedule to be here. So when will you be here? Him: five minutes Me: if you aren't here by 4 I am leaving and expect a refund. He shows up at exactly 4. There was some test he was taking...traffic...typical LA excuses. We get down to business finally. We agree on a color. It was mostly what I wanted, but I was too frustrated to really care at that point. We didn't talk very much during the process. The one redeeming factor (it earned the second star) is that he did a good job on the hair cut itself. I told him I needed something simple but edgy. He complied and gave me something that was easy to manage at home. read more

Since then, Mike has done a variety of different styles on my hair; from simple spiking to dying a solid platinum streak on the part of my head. While my preference in hairstyles has certainly changed since then, I've always been satisfied with my visits to Mike. In fact, he never allowed me to leave his chair until every strand of hair on my head was just perfect. I showed him on my cellphone. Then he lied to me and  said he is trying to redeem it but it doesn't go through and I have to pay the $87 from my pocket after he is done and can ask Groupan to return my money because he couldn't redeem the coupon.  I agreed. . after he was done I told him I pay $20 tip plus the $43 amount he had told me from the beginning and the $87 that was supposed to go from the coupon that he said hasn't worked so together it will be $150  . He got my credit card and charged the $150 and I went home. later when I checked credit card report I saw the $87 coupon was redeemed!!!!! I called him and told him what has happened and he refused to return the money he had taken from my credit card. He kept insisting that he will not return the money instead I can come to him for free haircut or hair wash!!
