These guys are not fun to work with. I dealt with the owner, Ralph. They did end up getting the main sign up in time, but I had to put all kinds of pressure on them to get the sign up at the previously agreed upon time because he waited till the day before to apply for the permit. He tried to blame this on the city but it didn't make any sense because he had four weeks to put in the papework and why is he at my office asking me to sign applications the very day it's supposed to be installed.
I had to get him to go downtown & apply at the last minute as he was saying he was too busy to get it done. Then he told me the day the sign went up that he never did go apply for the permit and that if we got caught we'd split the cost (this is after the sign is already up - mind you I paid him $450 to get the permits). Part of the agreement was for him to put up a 2nd, smaller sign and do lettering on the windows, but the guys left without saying anything to me and didn't install the 2nd sign and the lettering is still not up. When I pressed Ralph he complained that he was paying the workers time and a half on it and he says he did me a favor by getting the sign up this week in the first place and to find someone else to do the lettering and the 2nd sign and call it even. Now I'm thinking I'm not going to be even at all because I'm probably going to have to go get the permits that I already paid him for as I'm sure he pocketed the money. I'm also not sure if the sign is working properly as it doesn't seem to be lighting up as it should. This might be the manufacturer's problem, but as the sign people left without giving me a chance to OK their work, it could be that they just didn't finish hooking it up to the electrical box. Anyway - I'm not sure how this company stays in business but I recommend paying more for better service. read more
