Deja volunteers weekly at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter where she takes the photos that appear as adoptable pets in the "Animal Angels" ad in the newspaper. These are the familiar images that I have loved over time...relaxed "smiling" portraits of cats, dogs, horses and perhaps the occasional rooster or alpaca. Sure to steal your heart, the photos probably do more to place adoptable pets than any other type of outreach program. In addition to these super photos, Deja also makes portraits of individuals, weddings, special events or a beloved pet and IMHO, she really does capture the character of the person, pet or gathering. Photo sessions happen at her studio or on location. I do have to admit that when I finally met her at the PT Farmer's Market, I was...well, how shall we say this delicately..."smarmy" with complements. Its just that it was as much fun to meet the person in back of the these "shelter-pup" pictures as it might have been to meet an author or musician. She took it fairly well, I thought...but danged, I forgot to ask for her signature on the newspaper photo. Well...maybe next time!

Wife was happy with the actual shoot, studio, and photography, but getting the end product to the customer as promised was a challenge. I'm also giving the rating based on price. This is a nicer studio and as such comes with better equipment. You expect to pay more. But I would advise to scan the price list first to know your options. If you're looking for a few good shots to have prints made, CM could work for you. If you're looking for more (more than 8 shots), it's a premium. We're the "burn me a CD" kind of family and let me pick. Again, the quality of the product is pretty good, but you should be informed before signing up for a sitting. In the end, CM offered us a store credit towards future prints. They understood our complaint and are trying to fix it, but they could have discounted my current sale instead. I can't see going back to CM tomorrow, but maybe in the future we'll try again.
