I should have paid more attention and got this lol

Lunch special seems like the way to go. I enjoyed what i did get very much. Everything was made right there to include the cucumber salad. Two people working the place and they seemed to know everyone who came in and ordered Ill go back.

This TINY mom & pop sushi shop is located in downtown Portland. There is limited outdoor seating only, but I noticed most people get their order to go. A sweet elderly Japanese couple runs the whole show, so please be patient and kind! While there's a bit of a wait during the lunch rush, if you've got the time it's worth the wait. Each roll is handmade by the wife, and the husband helps support her behind the counter. The fish and rice are high quality and I was impressed with how fresh everything was. The prices were also very reasonable (~$11-14 per roll). As a salmon lover I opted for the Mizu Sushi and Lion Roll. The size of the salmon pieces were generous and so buttery. The cucumber and scallion provided the perfect refreshing crunch to balance out the fish. I'll be back Mizu!

We ordered 3 rolls for ~$25 total which is very affordable. The fish quality is pretty good for the price. I would say the only con is their limited and sometimes uncertain hours.

This place was so cute! I came on a break on my first day of jury duty. It's very small, with room for only maybe 3-4 people to sit. There's a short L counter and one table. But the sushi I had was good! I've been doing Japanese on Duolingo but couldn't really speak anything yet. I've been learning some hirigana and was excited to share my post with the hirigana for sushi: すし I had an Oregon roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a cucumber salad. It was a little too much food for one person but I find every sushi place is a little different. Sometimes the roll will be 4 pieces, 6 pieces, 8 pieces, or be tiny little pieces. The cucumber salad has sesame seeds and sushi vinegar and my cucumber was very crunchy and ripe that day! I would go back if I was in the area!

Small sushi spot close by the waterfront. Stopped by for takeout and took about 15 mins or so for order to be ready, which wasn't bad at all. The restaurant itself is very small and I would not recommend dining in - just order to-go. The only thing knocking off a star is that, when I asked if they had tamago on their menu (or could prepare it), the lady looked at me like a chicken with its head cut off. Every sushi place I had been to previously had it on their menu and I didn't think it was too obscure of a question, but I guess I was wrong. Oh, well. The sushi itself was very good quality and I enjoyed it a lot. I'll definitely be back!

This hidden gem is a whole in the wall. It's right next to my work and easy when I need quick food. It's counter service and there isn't really too much seating but you can take your roll to the park on the next block to enjoy. The only reason why I give this place 4 stars in because I don't eat fish so I never feel like I'm a good judge of any sushi spot but I do believe it will be worth your time!

For me, hole in the wall spots are usually reserved for taco places across town with the occasional comfort food and little mom and pop place outside of town. I will say, a hole in the wall sushi spot is a new one on me, but what a welcome find. Now, to be fair, I have been here a few times, but just to pick up food since I do food delivery part time. I'd never eaten here before but the sushi always looked great. I also liked that it was one person doing everything. The space itself is probably smaller than the coat closet at the Ringside Steakhouse, so... cozy. There is a small amount of counter seating and during the warmer months there are some tables outside. But one woman is running the show and what I had was simply tasty and very inexpensive. Now from other reviews, a daughter helps out from time to time and on my visit, there was a man that was assisting but she takes care of all the sushi. To start off, there are two combo options that are both cheap and filling for a light lunch. I went with option one for $10.95 which had a crunchy roll with tuna, a spicy tuna roll and two pieces of nigiri (salmon and snapper). Everything was prepared well and so fresh. The wasabi had some kick to it. I also had to get some unagi nigiri (mine and my daughter's favorite) and some yellowtail nigiri that had a real depth of flavor. I actually enjoyed the taste of that the best. The are plenty of other rolls to try plus some hot options. They are limited on the fish choices, but what you get is great. I highly recommend stopping by here and I do plan on coming back many more times. Support local. Enjoy.

The intimate 3-seat counter in this tiny restaurant allows for you to really engage with the sushi chef; this woman not only made me the best California & spicy tuna roll but she educated me on the actual current temperature in my home of Los Angeles, CA. Misu has a very authentic feel, the fish is fresh & chilled well & the miso soup is hot. We really enjoyed our time & food here but it was also the first time I finished my food before my boyfriend finished his & he won't stop carrying weights around the house & telling me how strong he is since we got home from Misu

Rainbow Roll Special with salmon inside with California roll $11.99!

A little hole in the wall that has great customer service and great sushi at a great price!!! I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. I highly recommend this eatery to any one passing through, visiting, or lives in Portland who loves eating sushi. I usually order the Rainbow Roll and saw a Rainbow Roll Special on their menu. With this menu item you can choose any assorted fish on top and any assorted fish inside with California Roll (avocado, cucumber, imitation crab) for only $11.99! I would not come here with a large group. They only have about four chairs and the place is very small. I would go with a friend or order to go.

Amazing sushi. Would highly recommend! Had time to quickly grab something while here on a work trip. Did not disappoint.

I kinda get both sides ya know , sure one person in the group wants a drink w dinner but dude just tough it out and have your dinner. Instead they popped off and all started fussing and being entitled and it was just gross. I was enjoying a fantastic dinner but that table was like trying to take the stage. I think they ended up storming out and one girl like stomped off and said she was keeping her cup !! lol I worked in food a long time ago. And I've worked in cannabis under the watchful eye of the olcc so I'm on the servers side. Don't take chances and don't listen to these kids scramble for a secondary ID. Sketch. Go to obon. Much to our disappointment, we were unable to secure tickets for their more well-known and critically acclaimed evening tasting menu. Tucked away inside Portland's historic Morgan Building is a restaurant unlike any other you'll ever visit. Chef Ryan Roadhouse and his crew took us on an unforgettable journey through a menagerie of Japanese-inspired high-tea delights. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt like we were transported into a secret and exclusive world, the kind of place you have to know someone to be invited into. The main dining area was intimate, and tastefully decorated with a blend of modern and classic Japanese decor. There were seven to eight tables spaced comfortably apart to provide privacy between groups. On the table itself, we found two plates, a miniature Zen garden, the tasting menu (a sneak preview of the wonderful dishes to come), and an oshibori (compressed hand towel that expands when introduced to hot water). Soft Japanese music played in the background. The Chef and his staff spoke to us softly, almost in whispers. The entire atmosphere evoked a sense of tranquility and relaxation. Our experience started with a Cold-brew Strawberry Sencha, a tea with a subtle strawberry aroma. It was a wonderful gateway to the adventures to come. Throughout the dining experience, we also enjoyed two other types of teas: Lemon and Ginger Tea, and Kanazawa Hojicha. We had the privilege of enjoying a variety of mind blowing savory dishes such as the Octopus Konbucha, House Cured Inari with Curry and Bay Shrimp, Masu Zushi with Smoked Salmon, Fried Oyster Sando with Tartar, Smoked Egg Sando with Ikura, Chives, and Pickled Carrot, and Squid Ink Cracker with Shitake and Scallop. The experience concluded with a spectacular finale of sweets including a Roll Cake with Honey Nut Squash, Black Sesame Tofu with Black Sugar, Pear Kanten, Pate a Choux with Hojicha Cream and Persimmon, Miso Caramel filled with Black Truffle, and Berry Meringue. Each dish was meticulously crafted to perfection. Choosing my favorite dish of the afternoon is difficult since everything I tasted was delicious beyond comprehension. But if I had to choose one, it would be the Fisherman's Style Sea Bream Sashimi, something that wasn't even on the tasting menu. It was very clean-tasting and had subtle hints of something that tasted like sour plums. The presentation of the dishes was almost as impressive as the foods themselves. All the individual plates and bowls were unique and beautiful. The ways in which the savory and sweet items were displayed were like pieces of art. Before I wrap up this review I do have to mention a few things. The entire experience lasted about two hours from start to finish. To reserve a spot at this restaurant, you must purchase tickets in advance. As mentioned earlier, there are only a small number of tables available so you won't be able to just walk in to this restaurant. So don't even bother to try. Gratuities are included in the purchase fee. For this meal, tickets were $150 per person. For what you get, this price point is a steal of a deal. If you want to try their sake (I recommend the Hideyoshi "La Chamte" Sparkling Sake), these are not included in your initial purchase. If you're looking for an unbelievable and memorable dining experience, this restaurant deserves to be at the top of your to-try list. My only regret is that as a visitor to Portland, I won't be able to try their dinner tasting menu, which I'm sure is just as incredible as the afternoon experience.

The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere though interestingly located (the area you go through doesn't match the price point). When you are first seated, there is a small welcome drink which is nice. Our experience ended up taking about 3 hours in total and comprised of several courses of small bites. We were not able to snag countertop seating (though in hindsight, I am happier with how romantic it was so not a big deal). While it was a nice relaxed atmosphere, the experience and food itself was just OK. I did feel a little pressured throughout the meal to add on a beverage pairing (such as sake, wine, non-alcoholic beverages) and was asked at least 4 times even though we declined, which felt like a lot of pressure (that being said - the sake pairing pours looked generous from the tables around us). The bites sounded nice and in small quantities, were pleasant. However, I did not feel like any were truly stand out or amazing to match the price point of the meal. While I did enjoy that there was an attempt at a theme to put everything together, the dishes themselves did not wow me. Some of the presentation was fun/interesting, but some made me feel like I was straight out of a prank and was looking for a camera (sliced marinated tuna served in a "tin" can). We were unfortunately a little disappointed, but perhaps it is because of the high expectations we had.

I wanted to visit the last time I was in Portland but didn't have the opportunity. So I made it a point to visit on my trip and convinced my manager to come too. The cafe is so quaint and serene! As a Japanese cafe, it has lovely art, crafts, and antiques around. I loved the overall space and vibe. It's a nice place to work or hang out with friends, too. Plus, all the workers were kind and helpful, and the items came out quickly. When you enter, their counter offers a wide menu of food and drinks. It can be overwhelming, but in a good way! They have seasonal and traditional items. I got the Pumpkin Matcha Latte with Soy Milk, a Salmon Onigiri, and a Matcha Brownie. My manager got a drink, onigiri, and dessert as well. The matcha latte was yummy! It was creamy, more pumpkin-forward, sweet, with a hint of earthiness. The brownie was very dense and not like a typical brownie texture or consistency. It was heavy on the matcha, and the walnuts had a nice texture; I wish it were chewier! The onigiri was a bit disappointing, and I'd skip it. There was a decent amount of salmon, but the nori was soggy, not crispy like in Japan, and the rice kept falling apart. As a Japanese person, I have high standards for my onigiris, and this wasn't it. I recommend their drinks over their food. Behind the Museum Cafe has such a nice vibe whether you're visiting or living in Portland. I would come back for their drinks! You'll find them across from the art museum off SW 10th Ave.
