Their food is affordable (ranging from $9 to $21, see the menu photo for more information) I first found out about Kanda from two people that were showing people their menu on Queen Street and I was really interested, so I decided to check the place out a few weeks later. Turns out, Kanda is located on the basement of The Strand shopping arcade arcade, and to get there you can enter from their stairs (which has a great decor by the way) on the Elliot Street end of The Strand shopping arcade. I was greeted by a very warm and friendly woman who patiently attended my sister, grandmother and I - including our questions, even going to the kitchen to double check her answers for some even if we didn't ask her to! The restaurant itself is well decorated and very spacious - much more that it's nearby neighbors such as Daikoku, which has been established for longer and is nearly always crammed with people when it's dinner. They offered a lunch and dinner menu and an all you can eat choice (which seemed very tempting and I am more than willing to test and review soon) Yes, it is slightly more expensive for their snacks but they prepare and garnish them well - I ordered two Takoyakis for a test-run and they decorated it complete with extra seaweed cuttings on top (yay!) and to top things off, for this month only (their first month) they also have a free drink promotion. This hidden gem in the city is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for well prepared Japanese food in the city with a spacious/well decorated and clean restaurant, even if it means paying a few extra dollars for snacks that other restaurants (then again, their food is affordable so you can splurge on snacks, perhaps?)

Well you can definitely tell there is a small restaurant touch to the food. The menu is pretty standard, and the food is above average. The staff is very attentive and polite, they have the honest small restaurant vibe going on. The place doesn't have much decoration which feels a bit sparse, but I'm sure they will continue to decorate as the business grows. Bottom line, thumbs up!

Has its own car park which is convenient. Inside the restaurant is very nicely decorated with a very Japanese trendy Tokyo look which is different to other Japanese restaurants in Sheffield. Greeted with enthusiasm by the waitering staff and shown a nice picture menu of the sushi on offer. I opted to sit on the Teppan Grill table and the chef kindly introduced me dishes and how they would be presented. Very friendly atmosphhere. Ordered a small Sake Wine and selected Sirloin steak cooked with Enoki mushrooms. Chef went to prepare whilst I waited and admired the decor. Within a few minutes, I was presented with a fresh sirloin which was instantly cooked in front of me which I wanted Medium Rare. Excellent quality of steak and the taste was unbelievalbe. Price of £19.80 including 2 sides, miso soup and rice together with the theatre and entertainment value is a steal. Will come back again and again and again!

I opted for a comforting plate of pork katsu curry and it was very tasty and freshly cooked, so fresh I almost burnt my mouth on the cutlet! My only issues were that it is currently cash only and that my meal came a good 5-10 minutes after my partners - but I honestly think these are just opening month niggles. Sakura House isn't fancy, it's an honest little restaurant with lovely staff and I think it's a welcome and refreshing addition to the area.

If you go I would recommend a set menu which means you get miso soup, rice, veg, a "protein" (chicken, beef, salmon, prawn..) and also a dessert. I recommend checking out their web site and having a look at the menu and what special deals they have on. Its better looking at the menus on their web site on a computer as it doesn't work too well on a smartphone. If you ever find yourself in Stockton Health in Warrington, I would recommend coming!

They also have some Japanese dishes on the menu like sushi, gyoza, temaki and teriyaki. There is parking right outside and it's pay and display but very cheap: 50p for 30 mins and £1 for an hour. The atmosphere is very casual like a cafe, so it's great for lunch as well as dinner. Overall, authentic and tasty Korean food that's well priced and made to a great standard.
