My husband and I went here on our anniversary because I was craving sushi and didn't know where else I could find some around here. We had no idea what to expect when we walked in.
We were seated with other couples around a central grill. They weren't people we'd come with. As we'd been hoping for more of a cozy and romantic dinner for two, we were a little disappointed at first. This was our error, though, not the restaurant's. At the second grill, we could see some kind of party that had come together and they looked like they were having a blast, so we happily gave it a chance.
I'm glad we did! When the chef came out to start cooking, he put on an amazing show, flipping the knives, standing eggs on end and chopping things lightning fast. At the second grill, the chef was flipping a bite at a time through the air into the open mouths of the diners, but nobody on our side was that adventurous. It was great to watch, though!
The food was delicious and the portions were MASSIVE. I had still ordered sushi as a starter and it was great, but looking back at the size of the main dish, I could have done without it.
If you're looking for a quiet place for a date, I'd skip Miyabi, but it's perfect if you're feeling a bit adventurous or social, and I would take a group of people or a work outing here for dinner in a minute. read more
