I have been with them 2 years and while I have found them to be generally responsive I found it impossible to get confirmation of insurance coverage on a car I bought Saturday. Tried thru website but it said specifically that there was no coverage until they confirmed there was. Supposedly I have not one but two agents assigned to me but neither answered emails over the weekend. Neither did their Manager. Finally just before 10 pm Sunday night someone with the last name Mitchell emailed me to say I was covered. I wish I could give my friends at Mitchell Insurance Agency more than 2 stars, but since my agent left the agency, their service and attention has gone down hill. Like most insurance agencies, once they've got you locked into a policy, it's "see ya, wouldn't want to be ya" time! In other words, "we don't need to keep in touch with you anymore unless your rates increase." Thanks for nothing! Having been a professional salesman all my life and realizing early on how important my customers base is for basic business survival and new business acquisition, it would be nice if Mitchell Insurance Agency figured this out as well. The customer is the #1 avenue to new business through referrals and is the foundation on which every business survives. Mitchell has never asked me for any referrals nor will they receive any from me, because they've never gone above and beyond the normal call of duty to serve me. Granted, they've always been able to satisfy my customer service needs when called upon, but even then, it took awhile to resolve simple issues due to the inaccessibility to my agent who apparently works out of his home instead of the main office. Handling customer service issues effectively is the bare bones requirement for survival in the insurance industry. Any old agent can provide that. Why can't Mitchell provide more? As soon as I am able, I will be switching all of my policies over to my old friend. Mitchell has already lost half of my business, mainly because they've never asked for it. Oh well. I've been with Mitchell Insurance now for 5 years, maybe more. They were able to lower my rates with Erie initially as I was no longer willing to pay a higher price with NW. My original agent left the agency several years ago but every time I call, I speak to knowledgeable and helpful staff members. Now that my adult daughter had a couple minor, no injury accidents, we received a nonrenewal cancellation over the weekend. Before I was able to call an agent, I had a new renewal quote with another carrier offered by the agency. This company was great until my agent left. No one knew who would take our policy and answer my questions. Finally when it came time that I was involved in two accidents, both not my fault and can be seen in the photos I sent to them, I was the one who got the markings on my insurance. They paid the woman who hit me to get her car fixed yet mine had hardly any damage. I reported everything in advance right after the incidents happened. NOW, because I have had 2 wrecks, they will no longer offer me car insurance and I just received a letter in the mail with date or cancellation. They have been no good to me since my agent left and I strongly advise anyone who is accident prone or gets hit a lot, this is not the company. They will insure you and once you get in a wreck, they will send you a letter of cancellation on your policy. Crooked people. It's not right and the fact they paid for someone else to get their car fixed when they backed into me......backed into my passenger rear tire, as if I Tokyo drifter my car into her bumper. Come on people, its easy to see who's at fault. But I guess its my fault for taking pictures, getting insurance information and sending them to my agent 10 minutes after the wreck. Thanks for notifying me she wasn't my agent anymore as well as continuing to take my money from my account even though I changed it with 4 people and they still didn't get it right. Ridiculous.
