I took my 3yo daughter to Dr. Stashower after being referred by her pediatrician who diagnosed her molluscum contagiosum. Dr. S barely acknowledged my daughter & went right into the exam. He took one look & then told the nurse what to get out for treatment. Options were never discussed. The room was tiny, my daughter was terrified and Dr. S talked so fast I felt overwhelmed & flustered. I made him slow down & repeat himself. He told me that they would apply a treatment to the bumps, they would blister up & go away & she had to come in every 3-4 wks for more. He left the room after about 3 minutes. After making the nurses leave the room bc they were rushing my daughter & making her more uncomfortable, the y came back & held my daughter down SCREAMING while they applied Hydrochloric acid to her bumps. The procedure was painless, but over the next 24 hrs they blistered & became extremely painful. I called the office & asked what I could do to help the pain and they said, "I guess you can give her some tylenol". She could not walk the next day & 2 wks later still complained about the pain. I got a second opinion and the new doctor informed me that she does not recommend burning or freezing the bumps on small children because of the pain involved! She gave us retin-A to apply each night at home. It is painless and pleasant. I would never recommend Dr. Stashower, especially for children. I went in for a consultation and came home with a child in pain. These people are supposed to have pediatric specialty! I will NEVER let Dr. S touch my baby again! read more
