Waited 25 minutes past appointment time even though I arrived early. I was scheduled with a PA to remove a mole and melia. The PA was courteous. She examined the mole and reassured me it did not show signs of concern. She then recommended that I see a plastic surgeon for the mole removal. For the melia, she explained the procedure and informed me of the potential side effects. Given the information I was provided, I took her recommendation to see a plastic surgeon. I paid $80. Unaware at this time how much insurance will pay or if I'll receive a follow-up bill. Ridiculous that doctors still charge when no service is provided. I reached out to friends, who previously had a mole or melia removed, for their plastic surgeon recommendations. They all came back saying their dermatologist removed their melia or mole, and they didn't see a plastic surgeon. I reached out to my friend, who is a retired internist. He thought a dermatologist should've been able to handle this. I could go to a second dermatologist but annoyed that I'll need to take time off of work again. I understand that I don't present with an exciting case, but I shouldn't have to hop around for a mole and melia removal. And I really find it distasteful that I was still charged and insurance billed even though no service was provided.

As a woman, I hate growing facial hair. The doctor told me I had nothing to worry about. If I put oil on my hairline and it resolves...easy peasy. And she compared my facial hair to hers saying, "see, I grow facial hair too, I just pluck them." I knew she didn't believe me. Well, I got a second opinion. I went to Dr. Bembry! Dr. Bembry actually EXAMINED my scalp. Oh, did I tell you the last dermatologist didn't actually examine my scalp. Dr. Bembry actually examined my entire scalp, not only in my trouble spots. She did two biopsies because she seen the obvious! My scalp needs help! I haven't received the results yet, but I'm so happy Dr. Bembry is doing her due diligence to get to the root of the problem and she actually believed me and wants to help!

It didn't take too long to get in to see the Dr which was nice, however that's when the positives stopped. I was helped by a very kind nurse and he took all of my information, however it felt very rushed. The online paperwork I had to do ahead of the appointment was poorly/lazily coded; There were multiple very different conditions listed for mental health disorders, and you could only choose one. I have ADHD and it was lumped together with having schizophrenia, alcoholism and a bunch of other things that I was not able to differentiate by either selecting the specific thing or having the option to write in notes what exactly I had, which is VERY important to differentiate when communicating to the dr your conditions. All of the paperwork was like this with nowhere to correct in notes. It's pretty important for them to understand these things for both medication management and contraindications. When the Dr came in to see me I felt VERY rushed even when I tried to speak as quickly as I could to get all the info out. The moment I mentioned an additional worry/symptom I was having she shushed me like a child and said I had to make a separate appointment for each concern even though in my case they were related to each other. She made fun of the fact that my husband was in the appointment with me (again I have ADHD and need someone to help me with note taking during appointments), and spoke to me in a patronizing and condescending way. Worse still I mentioned that I had major stomach issues both to her and her nurse and she prescribed me something which she said would be "no issue unless you have really bad stomach issues", and when I tried to repeat it she quickly rushed out of there. I found out that I was one of her last patients of the day and so she probably just wanted to get home for the day which isn't right; you should spend the same time with each patient giving them your full attention no matter what the time of day. I would have rather had another appointment at another time than to have been so rushed. After feeling utterly humiliated by the Dr and her horrible bedside manner, I had to go to the front desk and mention the issues with the online paperwork and let them know the meds I was on (again the intake wasn't done properly), and mention the stomach issues. Unfortunately the medical assistant had already gone home for the day so I had to rely on the secretary to let them know in the morning. She never resolved my issues, and I won't be coming back. TLDR: Dr. Urvy Gonzalez has horrible dehumanizing bedside manner, rushes her appointments, and is downright medically negligent by not properly listening to patients' concerns and preexisting conditions/medications. I Do not recommended this practice or Dr, and advise anyone to stay far away.

When I moved back in late 2023 I went back to her and got the same great care, very thorough explanations, and never felt rushed while asking questions/expressing concerns. I have a family history of melanoma so visits for me are quite regular. I've had 2 biopsies here and 1 removal. Compared to the other places I've had biopsies/removals I'd say they're on par. HOWEVER I did have a poor experience with a newer nurse(? I'm not sure of their titles) where he told me VERY wrong biopsy wound care instructions. I argued it for a minute but he assured me I was wrong, and so I just let it go for the moment. After finishing up I got in my car and on my phone and confirmed with both the AAD *and* the office's own website that I was right, so I went back and asked to speak to someone. I explained, they apologized profusely and said he'd be getting more training, and that was the end of it. I do hope no one else had to deal with that. In terms of surgery and follow ups, I like them! Sometimes it takes more than average local anesthesia for me and they definitely listened instead of dismissing me. When my dad went he had no complaints and when his surgery site ended up infected they were quick to get antibiotics to him (both oral and topical). For my own wound care follow up it was always quick and to the point but I still was able to ask questions if I had them. I do wish the front desk was a bit better about scheduling and what they say to each other though. I always feel like there's confusion when scheduling, and I'm never quite sure if I'll get a confirmation or any kind of automated reminder of an appointment. Plus it always seems hit or miss if I'm going to get an answer on the phone (example: I've called twice today during business hours and it just rings until it hangs up on me. no 'we're closed for the upcoming holiday in 3 days', no 'leave a message', just hangs up). I've also caught them talking about "how sad" a patient's situation was. When I heard it I wasn't the only one in the lobby but I was sitting furthest away, so I just walked up and asked a question to get them off the subject all together. Small ask, I do wish they had a more up to date website. It isn't well done and feels at least a decade old. From the looks of their back office they're still updating from paper files to electronic too. But not a complaint, I've never had any kind of issues with them and billing/Tricare! Though their invoice system does take quite a while to give me a detailed invoice (weeks??) which is tough for my FSA. So overall, a good clinic with good doctors/surgeons! Kind of rough everywhere else though.
