Mitcham Junction is a pretty good interchange between rail and tram services. Within walking distances you can also get onto the London bus network and off a National Express coach if you are coming in from Brighton into the big smoke.
Comprismising of a 2 platform station with an overhead bridge, Southern railway provide services to Sutton and Epsom in the south and Balham, clapham Junction and London Victoria to the north. These are quite frequent, I think it is around four each hour.
First Capitial Connect (Thameslink) also serves the station as part of the Streatham-Sutton-Wimbledon loop. These trains go north to Blackfriars, Elephant and Castle and City Thameslink but do not run in the morning rush hour.
Next to the station on one side is a builders yard and a golf club, you really are in the Common land here. This is NOT a town centre station, but the tramstop on the other side can connect you with Wimbledon, Croydon and the rest of Mitcham. the tram service is very realiable but you cannot buy Oyster Pay as you go from the ticket machines here. read more
