Want to try a New York, keep moving along! Niagara Falls is a feast for the senses of winds, mists, and amazing sights. After taking in the majestic falls, I was ready to treat myself to a classic New York hot dog for the first time coming from California. Misty Grill Hotdogs seemed like a convenient spot, and I was excited to finally try this iconic street food staple. I ordered a classic New York dog, anticipating an epic hot dog. Unfortunately, my first experience with this legendary dog fell a little flat. It's pricey and doesn't taste anything special. It's also very small. Sadly a Costco hotdog would've tasted better. The toppings were equally underwhelming. The mustard was standard yellow, nothing special, and the bun, while soft, didn't quite live up to the hype. Sauerkraut was bland. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I know with Niagara Falls the life of the party is on the Canadian side. On the US side there's not much food options right outside the state park. For some reason I ended up in Niagara Falls with my girlfriend Saturday night and thanks to a lack of parking and some hunger, we ended up pulling into the Misty Dog Grill for a quick bite. This place is most certainly outdated and didn't actually have the veggie dog or French fries that we ordered (basically nothing my girlfriend ordered) so we both settled on getting a footlong hot dog and some curly fries on the side. The wait wasn't too long and before you know it we were enjoying some real American food (I don't mean this in a sarcastic way at all). The hotdog was honestly better then I expected. It was a little crunchy and so was the roll and that is just the way I like my hotdogs. The curly fries were pretty standard and left me with no complaints. Overall, this is a real "it is what it is" type place. I didn't leave here full, and I have no real complaints about the experience minus the whole "we don't have half of that order". They will sell you a 12 ounce cup of indian tea for $3.99 and fill it half and put a lid on it so you will not see it half filled. He sold me 2 half cups like this. Once I found out what he did, I drove back and told him and he said thats what they do and was not willing to remedy it. He warmed up a frozen malaysian paratha worth 40 cents and sold it for 4 dollars. He forgot to provide the forks for the noodles and did not pack the one fried egg for which he charged 5 dollars. The business owner was called by the truck employee but was not willing to talk about this. I told the truck employee, I will dispute the charge on credit card for the tea portion and he called me a bad name. This was a nice surprise for lunch. The prices are reasonable compared to several other places down there. It's an old school drive up type place with a really big menu. They give good friendly service. They corrected an order for us without issues. They serve good sized boats of sweet potato fries with honey butter sauce for dipping. Let me preface this by saying that I have had many wonderful meals at Misty Dog over the years; they are a must-experience each summer in Niagara Falls. I probably should have skipped that experience today. Perhaps it was because it's the end of the season, or the end of a long and likely slow business day filled with rain, but the food was close to inedible. The Coney Island dog's chili sauce wasn't a meat sauce but a thin bean-based sauce. The dog had been boiled in water, but that process must have been before the lunchtime rush, as there was no taste left in it, and while it was a pale pink on the inside, the outside (which should have been pink) was bleached white. The pizza logs were overdone, yet cool, as if this was the second time being cooked, and the marinara sauce for dipping was something thin and red, but not tasting like marinara. We ended up tossing the last of our meal, as it just wasn't worth it. I'm going to give them a try again...some day...but I hope that this was just an off day. The service is wonderful, great staff and friendly. I just wish that the food lived up to this location's past standards. read more

Stay far away!!! My husband and I went there and ordered two Chicago style hot dogs. Chicago dogs are those kind of hot dogs that are fat, juicy and snap. What we got were boiled and then fried. The burger & onion rings were good but the fries were over cooked and hard as a rock. The hot dog was good but on a stale bun. The tables were all dirty & there was trash lying around. Spent the weekend at The Falls, and this is THE BEST place to eat up there!!! The food was really good, the service superb, and a wonderful atmosphere. Did I mention the prices? SO reasonable.
