George is an angel! He meticulously and conscientiously restored my leather bag to the elegant and…read moredignified look that it had when it was new! The bag had well over a decade of use, as well as nostalgic memories too. I had an accident a few months ago when an unexpected gale force wind threw me 15 feet from the sidewalk into the street and into the path of oncoming rush-hour traffic. I was clutching my bag at the time but it was ripped away by the strong wind and suffered damage. I survived but needed an emergency hip replacement --and the bag survived too thanks to George who repaired the holes and restored the leather to such beauty! What a gift to have a craftsman with such integrity!! Bless you, George, for your exquisite work!!! Amy Neustein, Ph.D. Fort Lee, NJ

My wife found Mr. Maksoud's. At first I was a bit hesitant, but gave it a shot. The place is exactly what I like. Small, the smell of leather and shoe polish that greets you upon entering. Shoes and handbags strewed about. And in the middle of it all is George. Positive, quick with witty retorts, and busy working. He put new heels on a pair of old Cole Haan boots, that I wasn't ready to let go of. George even said they are nice and worth keeping. After about 9 days, I returned to pick them up. The work was great and the price was excellent. 40 dollars. Other places in the area would have charged double. I'm so glad my wife found this place. George also makes keys.

If i could give -5 stars i would...Do not trust this establishment... They may do good work however…read morethey price couch. I bought my shoes in the gentleman that does the repair work quoted me $40. He gave me the owners phone number and said she might give me a better price... So of course I called her. She tax on an additional $20 quoting me $60 for the job... I refuse to pay that because the shoes were not that expensive and I've had work like this done before for much less generally anywhere from $35-$45.is what I would expect to pay. Anyway, when I went to pick up my shoes look at the way she handed them to me. That was the sole on one shoe was coming off a bit, the other was coming off only at the very end of the hill... I know you probably have to open it up more, but look what she did she totally destroyed. It pull the hair off of one of them and that was the one that wasn't even coming off what did you support your additional $20 price tag to me this is price gouging and a rip off and you destroyed my shoes totally. The way I brought them to you I could've glued them myself and gotten may be another season out of it. I've done it before. Not only your rip off, but you destroyed my shoes. Now if I go to who are usually go to, it's gonna cost me even more than they would've charged me because I've had this work done before the only reason I came back to you because you're in my town. I'm totally satisfied with the Rutherford shoe repair store but it's another town. This is more convenient so I thought I'd try it never ever again... Run from this place don't walk they are not only a rip off but not honest and will resort to damaging your shoes just to prove their point on pricing. If I could give - 5 stars i would. I went to Harry the original owner for years... His workmanship was excellent but more importantly, he was extremely honest businessman. It's a shame what you've done with his business.
