A girl can't live without her black pumps. Ive had these shoes since college and literally wore them out. They have been through many milestones with me. But there comes a time when one has to part with the past....or so I thought. My sister gave me a suggestion to try to get them repaired at Frank's. Wow this guy is a magician! It took him a few days more than he expected (tells you how much damage was done) but when I returned a week later they looked good as new. And he only charged me $7. My son purchased a pair of used Air Jordan 5 sneakers at Sneakercon (Which is some crazed convention where people buy/trade/sell high end sneakers). These particular sneakers he acquired sell for $600 new----I believe he paid $130 for them used. The sneakers were in fair-good condition. Unfortunately, they were suede---in my experience one of the most difficult surfaces to clean. So we brought his red suede sneakers-----that had several scuffs and dirty areas---- to Frank's shoe repair. Two days later we swing by to pick up the kicks. My son is beaming because these sneakers look amazing!! Seriously, this guy is a shoe cobbler genius. I have no idea how he transformed these sneakers for only $20. My teen is ecstatic. I would not hesitate to bring ANY of my shoes (which I can assure you retail for a lot less than $600) to Frank's for repair. Finally, as my son and I were leaving Frank's, he turns to me a says, "Make sure you leave a good Yelp review for this business, because that is how I found them, through Yelp." Small shoe repair shop run by Frank. It's a very small store, you might miss it if you are not paying attention trying to get there. I went to him several times to fix my shoes. Seems like owner Frank is the only one working there. I dropped my shoes for sole replacement, paint removal etc. He always did a great job with reasonable prices. It's hard to find parking around but I don't mind going through that trouble. His work is well worth for the trouble. I was told that an old pair of shoes wasn't garbage until you found a good cobbler to bring them to. After going to two places in the area that decided its smart to close at 4pm on a Saturday, I stumbled upon this place. This isn't a place I would normally go to because it really didn't look that great and the inside was a mess. An older asian man was there and ready to help me so I gave him my shoes and he impressed me with his expertise. A week later I picked them up and they were almost as good as new. I think it was a bit pricey but then again, I really don't know how much it is supposed to cost. All in all, I would bring my shoes there again and I'm sure I'd be happy with the service. I've worked in the Hackensack vicinity off-and-on since the early-90s and am pretty sure that's how long I've come here. I wear my heels out quickly and repairs are typically $20ish, though he recently replaced the entire sole for $40. His work is excellent, IMNSHO, and the shoes will be nicely polished when you get them back. I can't speak to turnaround time as I don't need things quickly. Bring cash. I went to this place because all the reviews raved about it. I needed a new shoe cleaner because my previous one ruined my shoes. The reviews made this place seem worth the trip. HE RUINED MY SHOES. At first they looked really clean, once I picked them up, I realized he literally stripped the material off the shoes. They are not even the same anymore. They had a few black strike marks on them, and I just wanted them gone. If I knew he was going to STRIP the material off my $100 shoes, I would never ever have brought them. I'm so devastated because they were my favorite shoes. I wore them almost every time I went out. I even tried to order a new pair that's how horrible he ruined them. I have been to Frank's Shoe Repair twice and had an excellent experience both times. The first time I had him repair a pair of black heels that were severely worn down. They were an expensive pair of shoes and I didn't want to have to replace them. For $27, Frank made them look like new. It's incredible. He built up the sole, replaced the tips and polished them up. They're as good as new. After he did such a good job with the first pair, I brought a second pair of black pumps to him that I thought were headed for the garbage. So glad I gave them to him, instead. For another $27, I have a brand new pair of shoes. He again built up the soles, replaced the tips, and made the shoe look brand new. I usually get my shoes done in NYC, but I really wanted to bring my business local. I read the Yelp reviews and decided to try Frank - and with my favorite shoes. I got half soles, heels, and had him stitch a layer of fabric inside the back of the shoes where I wore them out with my heel walking many NYC miles for work. I could not be happier with the work. First rate. And at $60, it was half what I would have paid in the city. The only reason it wasn't a five star rating was because I had to wait a week to get the shoes back. But in fairness, I guess you can't have it both ways, and I wouldn't trade great work at a great price for a quicker turnaround. read more
